Layout Deconstructed
Hi ladies, Flor here. I was asked how I made the page below:
I loved the photo of my daughter reading a book. However, the photo didn’t have the correct light and the colors that she was wearing would not match anything. Sketches/drawings are the best way to hide photo problems and they are a lot of fun.
I wanted a background with drawings and brush work. That way my photo would flow in the same pattern.
I also added a stamped library (blending multiply – 70%). I love the hall way, it reminded me of the library that I went to when I was growing up. At the same time it gives depth.
After, I turn my photo into a drawing/sketch, I use the quick brush around it (I wanted to make it as if somebody draw it). I deleted all the white and just keep the black of the sketch. I wanted to keep the background colors intact.
After that I wanted an artsy frame for my photo, so I clipped the mask into the photo. The blending mode was normal but only at 68% opacity.
Now onto the paper:
Now, the finishing touches: wordart (normal mode, full opacity)
A couple of borders and elements. For post processing, I usually flatten my page and play with the brightness, contrasts, levels.
I used Artplay Palette Ex Libris and ModGrunge FotoBlendz No4 by Anna Aspnes
I hope you were inspired by this tutorial! I’d love to see your layouts with it so link me up in the comments!
