Yoga anyone?

I am seriously thinking of starting to do yoga. I need a beginning video. I used to be a dancer and a gymnast, but I haven't been in that form for a long time. LOL I love dancing work outs too. I have Dancing with the Stars and Paula Abdul (old but fun).

Anyone have a favorite to recommend? There are so many out there, I don't know where to start.

depends on what your goal with yoga is, as there are many types are you looking for strength, relaxation - any classes near you that you can try out? Our local college offered classes to the public. Rodney Yee is a very good yogi, but even after taking yoga classes his video was too difficult for me.

Ummm...all of the above are my goals.

I don't know that I'm ready to dive into an actual class. I thought I'd try it at home over the summer and see how it goes.

I was overwhelmed when I started looking for videos! How do I know what is going to be a good beginning? Other than Amazon reviews...

Do you have any yoga shows on your tv that you can dvr? BTW my class was smaller than 20 people, and only the instructor was fit- and she was older than me. Look for one where the instructor can modify based on your needs (ie prior or current injuries) yoga is not supposed to hurt.

Huh. Who'dve thunk. MTV yoga! LOL. Laurie, maybe I will search TiVo for upcoming yoga or look on demand. I think I looked on Netflix, but I will have to look again.

i used to do yoga, one thing I loved about it is that is it easily modifiable, like Laurie. said. I always did it at home, video/DVD (Rodney Yee's AM/PM Yoga) the ones On Demand and through wii fit. I also have a few books, one that I liked since it had good pictures is Om Yoga by Cyndi Lee.

I keep thinking that I should start it up again but I am never alone in the house to have quiet "mental" time and while I totally adore Gary, he doesn't get the idea of "I need 30 minutes of peace and quiet."

Silly girl....of course I checked the library! LOL They had several videos. I just don't know which ones are good. They only three "beginner" ones. Two mentioned styles of Yoga that I don't know what they are and one was Jane Fonda...which wasn't really appealing to me. Ha ha!

They didn't have the MTV one...which is a bummer since I know for sure you liked that one. There are just soooo many to choose from and I'm sure some of them are cruddy and some of them are just hard for beginners. So I was hoping people had specific ones that they liked that I could look for. Like the MTV one and the stuff that Sandrine gave me. Hopefully, I can get one of those to work.
