Word of the Year

I am late to this thread...but I have been reading through and I really like the idea of the WORD of the year....but I also read Peppermint's blog post and I think the NEW 52 fits me much better.....I really want to put my head into that concept!!! I am such an old fashioned "comfortable in my shoes" kind of person....but I feel like my life is in a rut sometimes, and when things happen that cause change, I am not always liking it too much. I can remember so well, that I used to not be like this at all!!! So I am going to do my best to try something new every week!!! Who knows where it might land me by the end of the year!!

Helen.....when I hear "go with the flow" I think WORKABLE....like anything that pops up, you can make it work!!

Thanks for this thread...it really was what I needed tonight!!!

I too am a little slow but have had my word simmering for awhile and may be a little odd. Mine is BE.

I need to just let some things just BE. I need to just BE Me and I need focus on BEing there and really enjoying the moment instead of crossing things off my list and focusing on what's next. So let it BE a great 2011.

Love all the discussion in the thread! Great work ladies:)

You know Tessie when I lived in Africa they used to tell me to stop! Time to work on yourself - a human 'being' not a human 'doing' all the time!

tessie- that is like a mantra- every time you get "doing" all you'll have to do it breathe and think "be"
Awesome!!!

How about this girls? I think I have it .. thanks to Nini's WA (just released) and another fab freebie!

Love your word, Tessie! It was one I considered too. And Helen and Laurie, gorgeous lo's.

My word is nurture. With the new baby on the way, my focus is turning to home and my family, whether it be to take care of the new baby girl or to make my little boy know how special he still is.

loving these- today I discovered the beauty of a sunset and the power journaling has, especially during stressful times!

Tessie - What a great word choice! I really like that! And Helen...release is perfect!!! I love the layout.

And ME...did I know you were pregnant? I think I did, but I'm starting to lose track a bit! LOL. Nuture is a wonderful word!!

Laurie - Glad you found something powerful today. :-)

ME-that is a perfect word for you! Are you finding out what you are having? For some reason, i thought you were having a girl. It could just be that I know a bunch of people who just found out they were having girls and I am throwing you into the mix LOL

ETA- Sara- GMTA hahahahah! Its like everyone I know is pg. Keep that water away from me;)

This "Joy!" is harder than it looks! I guess I have to remember that joy is not eternal happiness, but those moments you create/experience.

Yesterday was a cruddy day and I had a tough time, getting out of it. Today is not off to a good start, but I am going to keep telling myself- its the little things, the little moments to focus on.

Laurie- so proud of you!

Okay, I changed my word a little. I was using the word adapt but changed it to overcome...I decided that adapt was too passive for me and that OVERCOME was better. I need to OVERCOME all the obstacles in my life. I seem to have a lot going on and I need to get through and adapt and change and OVERCOME them to learn and grow. So that is my word this year.

yes!! Clara- that is so awesome!!! That is one of the reasons I didn't choose Peace as much as I would have loved that. I wanted something to go "out" to expand... *flings arms outward*
gah! Italian! Can't not talk with my hands when words don't work!

Anyway, YKWIM! Good for you!

Oh my word ... Chris you and I HAVE to meet in real life ... I'm EXACTLY the same! I'm always gesturing & waving my hands / arms around ... I'm sure it must be quite comical to watch!!!

BTW ladies ... I'm seriously in AWE of every single one of you! You've all given this so much thought and I'm so proud that you've each found your word (or in some cases, your words have found you!). So inspirational. mwah! love you all!

Ohhh guys...I just have to share this with you...

http://www.tipjunkie.com/giveaway-word-of-the-year/

(and here's the origin of the actual giveaway necklace!!)
http://www.lisaleonardonline.com/word-of-the-year-necklace-P213.aspx

I have to say, I adore Lisa Leonard jewelry...Mr Gorgeous gave me a set from her for Christmas...*sigh* it is a necklace with a heart with angel wings on it and the words on the back say "my heart is full". and it comes with a strand of pearls and earrings.

Anyway, thought I'd share that with y'all, since it'd be awesome to wear our words on our necks to remind us!! (i hope one of us wins...just sayin')...

Yes, we are having a girl! The reference to boy was to Christian!!

And let me add that I am finding all of your words and reasons for choosing them simply inspiring! You are all so fabulous and such a great group of support.

Sally - thanks for the link- I left a comment. Today I am discovering how much patience I do or don't have- haven't heard from mr gorgeous since yesterday morning when he left for the week. I'm pretty sure I will hear tonight.

let it go,
let it roll right off your shoulder
don't you know
the hardest part is over
let it in,
let your clarity define you
in the end
we will only just remember how it feels

our lives are made
in these small hours
these little wonders,
these twists & turns of fate
time falls away,
but these small hours,
these small hours still remain

I would have sworn that I put my word in here...but it doesn't look like I did. My word is "Hope" and my theme is "Live in the moment". So far, I'm seeing a difference in my approach to things. I've got a long way to go with this however.

Where I'm having a much more difficult time is coming up with an idea for something new this week. Seriously...it's the first week and I can't think of anything.

Help me out here ladies!

Linda - How about a new recipe? Or a new place for coffee or lunch or dinner? Or getting new shoes? (Ooooh. Shopping...I could get into this one new thing a week idea! LOL)

How about a new place to visit? like TEXAS...like SALLY!!!!

ohhhhh I love you girlies!! this thread is soooo fun to read!!! :)
I've blogged some new stuff I've done this week...and I'm soooooo THANKFUL for everyone and everything that allows me to do it!! :)

I'm continuing to embrace my word discover- however it has been applied in my life in ways I was not expecting- it is truly going to be a journey

I just found this thread, thanks to Sally....because I'm joining the New52 challenge.

I've picked a word (actually two) each year, since 2007.

I wrote a column, that actually ended up running in our local paper (it was a slow news week..lol) last week, before the start of the New Year,

http://kaytebug2002.blogspot.com/2010/12/one-word.html

It talks about finding my word, and what I hope to do with my word - New -

Anyway, just wanted to share...

Check my blog out too. I posted a thread in there with some thoughts for new stuff. But I haven't done anything yet either. This is hard!

OMG!!! Awesome post K!!
And stop putting yourself down- you are an amazing writer. So please, from a mom's POV, don't sell yourself short. I have seen you do that in other threads and it breaks my heart.
*mom-lecture over*

Thank u chris. And I am listening. This week I've learned to say thank u for praise. Lol.

Example. Kaylea the article was so inspirational it made me pick a word of my own for this year .... Focus. (an 80plus retired amazing woman in my church).
...
I say things subconscously that I'm having to stop and think of the right response.

So feel free to yell. It's part of the word New - just didn't make it so public.

So thank u. Writing this bared my soul a bit.
But I've always said I want to live a transparent life.
