...a scrapbook blog? We are planning some changes on ours and I'd like some feedback from all of you!

What would make you stop and read a post on a digiscrapbooking blog? What content would make you go, "OOO...AAA...Neat!" Do you want to read about new products, techniques, challenges? Tell us your ideas....if you were in charge of the Oscraps blog, what would you like to see on it?

I don't know how people have time to read blogs (& totally understand why no one reads mine!!!). It is all I can do to keep up with the 2 or 3 forums that interest me (this being a top priority). But if the blog were offering techniques, and there was an email to remind me to visit it, I probably would.

I like to read funny blogs with a hint of sarcasm here and there but I dont think thats the answer you are looking for.

I'd love to see some gift ideas for the holidays - you know like homemade gifts. I've got a girlfriend who makes these nut jars and puts cute sticker tags on top and gives them away at the holidays.

it might be nice to post the challenges there, too. i also like the techniques idea.

Ditto!

I think that the Haps and the personal designer news letters cover the "whats new and on sale" pretty well. But I love the idea of tutorials and techniques, so I can keep working on learning new stuff.

I spent last evening surfing other stores blogs -
not very exciting and I won't go back. Mostly pages of products and interviews (well I don't knock interviews but if I want to know a designer I will visit their blog)

First you have to decide the main purpost of the blog - to display products, advertise or get customeers into
the store?

My ideal blog would have projects, tutorials, challenges and the chance to win!

Everyone agrees tutorials are important - what about youtube videos (would Anna be agreeable to sharing hers?) Anyone else good at videos?

Small hybrid projects. cards, mini albums

Promote our challenges: Do you want to learn a new technique AND win a prize - participate in our monthly Photography and Techinques challenges etc.

What can you do with these 4 products - most scrappers like a challenge to create esp. if they win something.

Quick Photoshop Elements Tips: To quickly change the view of your page to Fit the Screen double-click on the Hand Tool in the toolbox. To change to 100% double click on the Zoom Tool.

This type of thing.

Quote of the week/month

Flickr and Twitter Feeds

Blinkies available (store and designers)

and the usual sign up for our newsletter - etc etc.

Just a few ideas that came to me -

hope this helps.

I have to laugh at us...you'd think we didn't know squat. But it's so much fun to keep learning how to do something that caught your eye. Sooo much easier than trying to reinvent the wheel! I love it when someone can share 1 step that might have taken me 4 or 5.

always chatty at the O!!
I think once in awhile throwing in a NSBR item just for fun is kinda cool. Not as the norm...but a fun cookie recipe before CHristmas. Or a fun Halloween decoration. Just to change things up once in awhile. But I think having links to new items, freebies (people are always looking for freebies - that's how I got reeled in here was with some freebies), and fun information is always awesome. I know I go to Amanda's blog all the time to grab tutorials...because I know they are there and easy to find. I'm sure there are a ton of other great tutorials that could be just as good or just as easy to do...but hers are easy to find and locate. So, I guess I'm trying to say that ease is key. I know there's this other site that has amazing information and I love the information I can find there but it is so hard for me to find I never go there. My two cents...plus a little.

You know...for the longest time I didn't know how to mask things and so I would use templates as basically a sketch and delete layers as I went. One day I saw something about using the mask tool on the layers palette using the alt-key and my whole life changed. LOL!!

You guys are so awesome! Tutorials and techniques are the #1 priority for us, I will tell you that. We have to try and balance designers (and others) wanting to drive traffic to their blogs and also protecting any terms of use for anything. I don't know if we can email a reminder, but I am looking into getting ours RSS-able.

Jacqueline - Excellent list of ideas! I can't wait to dig into them deeper!!

Thanks ladies!
