Oscraps

Weekend Ooo's January 1 & 2 2011

LaurieW

lOve the O!
Wow- new year new weekend- what do you have on tap? So far I must say things have totally not gone as I planned. Yesterday my Mr.Gorgeous went to work even though he was supposed to have the day off- it was needed and he did it- love this about him. He unfortunately did not get home until nearly the time we were supposed to be at the cocktail party before the wonderful evening out. The event was over an hour to away and he also has been battling a cough/cold- so yes we did not go out - we had pizza instead of a country club dinner. I scrapped some, did some gallery posting, worked on a layout for my one word. I decided that I would get up and have my first morning coffee in the hot tub- well it's raining. So I think i will spend the day in my craft room cleaning and organizing- that can't go wrong can it?

awww, Laurie- sorry that you didn't get to have that nice night out. But it sounded like YMG needed that time home. Sometimes pizza and snuggling on the sofa is even better than dinner and dancing.

My house is very quiet right now- just me and my pup are awake. Its her birthday too- 16 years old today! well, we picked today as her b-day since she was a stray and this date was close enough and easy enough to remember. She could be a bit older or younger... but this is works for her :D

I have to clean up a bit from last night, I want to finish taking down the ornaments- I thought I had all of the boxes down yesterday but I think I am missing one more. There is a Twilight Zone marathon on, so I know Gary and Scott will be watching that. i guess that means scrap time for me when I am done w/ my "chores."

Hope everyone had a happy and safe night and a wonderful new day and year!

Oh Laurie...thanks for opening up the thread this morning. A cup of coffee in the hot tub...we don't have rain and it sounds rather tempting. If I thought that I could get it done without one of the kids waking up, I would. Maybe, I'll wait until they wake up and let them watch some TV while I slip outside! :-) Can't wait to see that layout of your one word...I thought that I'd do the same today!

Good morning Chris! We need to get the tree down and out of here today! But I'm hoping for some scrapping time!

Have to wait on the layout- it's done- but it is for a CT so should be able to post it tomorrow- I'm quite pleased with it! I need to take down the rest of Christmas today, and not snuggle- I do not want what my mr. gorgeous has- but then again I would go to the dr and get meds for it! Men! Well- my tummy is rumbling so I guess I will eat first and walk during the parade today!

Linda- hope you get some hot tub time

Chris- happy bday to your pup and enjoy scrap time today

I am so happy to put December behind me!!! and I am looking forward to better health....but this month has gotten off to a crappy start!!! I will blame in on DEC 2010 since it started before Midnight!!! My Dad called last night around 11:30 to say the rescue squad was taking my Mom to the hospital. I couldn't go because I had a house full of kids, so I sat here on pins and needles waiting to hear anything!! She has low blood pressure as a normal, but it dropped dangerously low and she passed out!! I have distributed all the children back to their Mom's now, and I am waiting to hear from my Dad....they are running some tests...they have called in a heart specialist. I am hitting the shower and headed over there shortly....So I will ask for prayers and postive thoughts to start off this New Year!!

Thanks and much love to everyone!!

Nana Linda -- I'm praying!!! Keep us updated!!!!!

So I was working right up until midnight!!! Silly me didn't get my grand re-opening/new year's freebies done until the last minute. Earlier in the evening I was making cookies -- Russian Tea Cakes! Jeff loved my grandma's, so I made a double batch for him to either eat or share with his friend from work who's grandpa died Christmas day.
Last night was pretty awful for Jeff -- they had a tiered schedule, and he was the one who ended up getting screwed. Everyone else worked 7-8 hours, and he worked 12... no overtime or any compensation, because he's salaried. He already is required to work one hour every day unpaid (the director makes him come in half an hour early and go home half an hour late,) so I think this is the last straw, he's probably going to complain to HR.
Today I'm going to relax, I got two new embroidery books so I'm going to start a project to make cover my stand mixer. I'm really bummed because I went to get a keurig brewer yesterday, and everyone is out of them except for the "personal" one... which doesn't have a water reservoir and takes three times as long to brew. The manager at Bed Bath & Beyond said that they're actually waiting for keurig to make more -- they were the most popular Christmas gift. So, my 20% off coupon expires on the 10th, I'm going to keep checking in until they get one!!! We did get the variety pack of 60 k-cups, I'm going to order the thingy where we can use our own grounds so my in-laws can keep to their favorite coffee if they don't like any in the pack. Once I figure out what k-cups Jeff and I like, I'm just going to get them through amazon's grocery program, because they're already discounted & I get an additional 15% off their discounted price.
Ok, well I need to go calculate a winner to my commenting challenge & get started on my project!

Morning O friends... It is a cold and frosty day here, but the sun is shining and the snow on the mountains looks beautiful!! Did not do much for New Years Eve, just watched a movie and had a couple of rum with my Mr. Gorgeous. Then off to bed shortly after midnight. We wanted to be well rested for the arrivial of our grandkids today. Yea!!!!! So excited to see everyone again. They live to darn far away from us!! Then in another week we are off to Disneyworld to have fun at Mickey's house with all the kids and grandkids What fun!!!!

Laurie - I am sorry that you did not get your fancy night out with your hubby, but I guess he needs to get better right?? Coffee in the hot tub sounds devine, move over and make room for me would ya? LOL

Nana Linda - Ohhh sweetie, I am saying lots of prayers and sending lots of  your way for you , your family and especially your mother!! Keep us updated, this is no way to start off the New Year :nono:

Meg - Hope your coffee brewer comes in to the store very soon! My daughter has one and she loves it!

Chris - Enjoy your quiet time while the guys watch tv, can't wait to see what you scrap!!

Gotta go and get ready for the kids...can't wait, so excited!!! Have a great day everyone!

Hey ladies!! Happy New Year!! Linda - Lots of prayers for your mom. I'll keep throwing them out there anytime I think of it.

I haven't been online much so I have to look into this word thing. It looks like something I need to do for sure. Today I am trying to pack up so that we can leave tomorrow. I am not sure when we are leaving yet. Derek will not make a plan. We are headed over to Derek's cousin's house in a bit to celebrate some bdays and eat some food for New Years Day but the dryer is crapping out and the in-laws didn't take into account that I would want to do laundry today and the washer and dryer were full. I guess I really should have said something, but I didn't. I'm just frustrated and ready to go home. The trip was a little long. Our house is spotless and I'm excited about that though. We had a rental inspection and passed with flying colors. Yay!!

Well, I need to go check the laundry and am praying that it is dry. The heating element is going so it is taking nearly 2 hours to dry every load. Very annoying when I am trying to get crap done. Okay, I am off. Ciao.

So - mr gorgeous was stuck to the couch when he wasn't off helping the Amish neighbors. I spent most of the day in the basement- finally cleaning it up- I have just piled stuff (looks like a mini hoarders episode) for about a year. In my defense- no there really isn't a defense, I was redoing my scrap/craft room when mr. gorgeous got us involved in dance and that really messed with my time. So I have started to bring order back to it. Feels good. Has anyone heard of The Band Perry? They are playing at a local theatre next weekend. I asked mr.Gorgeous if he wanted to go- only $22 per ticket and since we didn't get to go out NYE I thought if would be fun to do. Him not so much- I'm sure it is him not feeling well, but I am thinking of going by myself.

Just got home from being with my Mom....no ideas at all of what is causing this...she is very sick and they are running lots of tests. That is about all we know right now!! Thanks so much ladies!! I truely appreciate you all so much!!!

Nana -- Thanks for the update, I'm still praying!!! Hopefully the doctors will have an answer soon so they'll be able to treat the problem and not just the symptoms!!!

Clara -- Hooray for passing the inspection!!!! I hope you get home safely, I miss our talks!

Laurie -- After you're done, want to clean up my place? haha, right now my embroidery stuff is EVERYWHERE. My wedding gifts are also still stacked in the guest room.

So I'm not doing the Word of the Year thing... because I'm doing NEW52, a thing that Peppermint and Christine (ListGirl) started. Basically, do something new each week!! Sue wrote up a great post & she links to the info on the project:
http://falstaff-folly.blogspot.com/2011/01/new-year-resolutions-arent-my-style.html
I also wrote about it on my blog & P365.

My best friend was just broken up with, so she's spent the last few hours over here. She's going away for a month at the end of this week, but this week she'll probably be crashing over here until she recovers. The break up was a relief, but break ups are never easy. She's probably going to start a tumblr and do NEW52 also, because she's finishing up her goal of 25 states before 25 years old this month, and needs a new project!

hello hellooooo!!!!!!!

Last day of vaca for us. It was a very quiet one, I guess that is good.....

Today i am going to work a bit around the house, then I want to scrap. I feel like I still haven't had that one day to just relax and scrap my heart out!

Any plans for you all?

Brian got the tree down yesterday afternoon while I watched "The Boy Who Cried Werewolf" with Sydney. What a guy! And my living room is back to normal...which is wonderful!

Linda, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. If there is anything I can do (besides pray which I'm already doing), please let me know.

Trudy, yay for having the grandkids around. And the trip to Orlando sounds splendid!

Meg, congrats on getting the shop open!

Laurie, I saw your word page...totally inspiring! And I'm so excited to hear about your year of discovery!

Plans for today...well we have no snow so although it's cold, I'm not complaining here! We have church in a bit, then Sydney has basketball practice, need to get everything ready for a week of school. And then, I guess we'll see. I should be writing performance reviews...but I'm thinking that I'm going to let that stress go until the week begins again!

well, we are driving...driving along. we are getting this drive down to closer to 9 hours, which is kinda cool. derek is a rock star driver. i am so ready to be home. i do love my in-laws but almost 2 weeks was a bit long. i haven't done any scrapping and really haven't even pulled out my laptop to do anything since we left. i really want to do a serious overhaul on my ehd and go through my pics and everything. we'll see what i actually do though.

so, i didn't see...was santa good to everyone? the only thing i asked for was PW cookbook. of course dh didn't think to look at walmart and went to 3 bookstores to spend twice as much on it. why can't they just know everything we know? i was talking to derek's cousin about how men survived before they had women in their lives to take care of things. do they just fall apart when we enter into their lives or what? because i know derek told me many times in those first few years i lived just fine without you. hmmmm...i just get so confused trying to wrap my brain around it.

well, addie is in the backseat yelling at ethan about every 15 minutes that he stinks. at one point she started freaking out and then yelled "ethan you're a stinky boy!" that was actually how all the stinky stuff started. she has been a little stink pot these last few days. just full of spit and vinegar. or something anyway. that's my girl though.

okay...i want to do some personals but i have to do them individually from my phone to not get too confused or lose my whole post. so i'm gonna posts and be right back.

Clara - when you get home and start working on your ehd, can you remind me to back up all my designs onto the ehd and burn CDs? I need to clear up hd space.

Today I'm thinking about resuming my search for a keurig brewer. Peppermint said to try kohls, buy online they just had the personal one... Which doesn't store water, an I'm lazy and need that. So I think I'll try in the store and swing by Costco, because Jamie of 3PP said she saw them there. This is turning into a desperate search. Now that I think about it, I should wait until Monday. Just incase a new shipment comes in.

well- I walked, churched, grocery shopped (and bought myself 3 new CD's to DISCOVER new artists) and now I am going to make a pot of chili because we went from 50 y'day to 25 today- brrrrrr

Hey girlies...

been lurking in here this weekend...finally have a moment to sit and take some time in here!!

I'm well fed with leftover homemade hamburgers from our family dinner on Friday, I'm sitting comfortably upstairs with football on, and I'm loving my laptop!! So yep, beyond blessed here!!!

NanaLinda, I'm sooo praying for your mom! Keep us posted, hun!!

Clara, I got a DroidX for Christmas so now I have a mobile hotspot for my iPad...I will always be able to be connected.

Here's what's really crazy...I can buy stuff from my iPad! not that i didn't think i could; it's just that I follow this Etsy fabric store, and she tweeted this awesome Valentine's type fabric, and with three touches on the screen, the whole batch of 9 half-yards are on their way to me!!! :) scary, scary!! I better fill my store with more fun stuff to pay for all of the purchasing power I have on the iPad!! yike!!!

Soooooooo, it's beautiful and a bit chilly here (I know it's really spring weather compared to you guys in the north!!), but we are loving it!

Ohhh and I did blog that I am doing the New52 thanks to Meg's link to Sue's blog! P365 scares me!!! But one new project a week has been my goal all along!! :) So I'm right in!!! yay!!!

okay, I'm off to do all of the scrapping challenges!! teeheeee!!! grab that scrapping time when you can!! :)

love you all!!!!

Hello. Looooong time. Sorry I haven't been on in forever. I hope everyone had wonderful holidays! We were so lucky to be able to go see family last minute. Everything just fell right into place for us too. We got a pet sitter for the cats, took the big dogs to a farm and took the little dogs with us. Yes, our house is pretty much a zoo. We stayed with Hubby's grandmother over the weekend. We brought our Christmas with us. Christmas morning the kids woke up to find that Santa had come all the way down to grandma's house! Then It snowed on Christmas in Charlotte!!! 5 inches by the next afternoon. It was great. We drove up to visit one of his aunts in Pinehurst Sunday, and the had lunch with her sister (his other aunt) Monday. I was so bummed that Clara was in Ohio or I would have driven down to see her too. I have a cousin of mine who moved to NC this past fall, but she was up in Wisconsin for the holiday. I found out her town is literally on the way to Charlotte. Right off the freeway. So I definitely will be visiting them the next time we go down.

Santa was very good to us this year. It was a bit more than I had planned on! But everyone was so happy and had such a wonderful time. I personally got everything I asked for. Which I was pretty mad about. I gave suggestions expecting 1 maybe 2 things, but not all of them. I got a brand new Nokia D3000!!! I absolutely LOVE it. The pictures it takes are just amazing. I haven't read the book or watched the dvd yet. I just opened it and started snapping away. I would love to be a photographer. It would be my dream job (besides running my own horse stables of course). But there are so many out there, that I am content just taking my own photos. So what else did the bad hubby get me? A bamboo! I tried using it to write here, but it kept putting in wrong words because I have such bad handwriting! I didn't even know it could do that. Haven't read the instructions on it either. I like to learn as I go. I hate reading instructions! I also got an external hard drive which will really help to speed up my computer once I dump all my photos and digi kits onto it! I also bought myself a brand new sewing machine with the Christmas money I got. So I am good for like 5 Christmases! I won't be asking for anything more for the next few years.

I will be so glad to get back to our normal routine tomorrow. It has been very nice to have the week off. We did prety much nothing but watch movies and play games. Oh and sleep in till 10 or later. My house is a mess! Tomorrow my goal is to try to find my dining room table! Maybe I'll get my sewing machine set up then and work on sewing all these cub scout patches. The oldest has had his red vest for 2 years and hasn't gotten to wear it. He crosses over in just over a month to boy scouts and will never wear the vest again. Man time just flies and you just can't find enough of it to do everything you want to do. Oh well. He doesn't seem to mind.

Ok I just realized I have written a book. I won't get to personals tonight. I have too many days to catch up on.

Off to go read and fall asleep early. I am planning on trying a bit of a new routine starting tomorrow. It's time I grow up and realize that you cannot lose weight by sitting on the computer all day!

I totally stink. I meant to do personals and then got distracted in the car. I lost cool points for sure.

Katrina - You were only 45-60 minutes away in Pinehurst. Crazy!! Too bad we were in Cleveland.
