Good morning ladies. I thought I'd get us started with some pumpkin bread and pumpkin latte's. :p I wish they weren't virtual but I guess that's good for my fitness program.

Have a sick little girl. Been alternating Motrin and Tylenol all night trying to keep fever down. So I think it will be slow day here.

So here's my story from yesterday. I worked from home because Sydney was sick.

Last week Dr. S (the principal at the elementary school) called to tell me that Shaun and some kid were pushing each other in recess line but that she had talked with him and they wouldn't be putting the incident in his permanent file. As you might guess, I went into great detail with Shaun how I expected no more calls from principals.

He worked really hard on spelling words this week and I told him how proud I was of him before he left for school this morning. On my way to pick him up tonight, I got a call from Mr. M. (the other principal at school) He said that Shaun and another boy were shoving in line and they have lost one recess on Monday. Being the very supportive and engaged parent that I am, I thanked Mr. M for calling and said that I'd talk to Shaun.

So the Grand Inquisition began when Shaun climbed into the car. Shaun said that he had in fact been involved in a shoving match in the recess line because this other kid (that he doesn't know) pushed him down on the ground to get the spot in the line. I knew of course that I didn't understand correctly so I pursued it. Shaun explained that the kid had pushed him clear to his knees on the ground so Shaun got up and shoved back.

I called Mr. M back and asked if he knew this part of the story. He said, "Yes, that's what happened." So I asked what type of coaching he had provided my son about responding when people push him down on the ground...saying that I really wanted us to be able to provide a consistent message. (That was said with my very firm and no nonsense voice.) The principal responded that he told the kids that "two wrongs don't make a right" and that they should "use their words instead of fighting". So I asked if he also encouraged them to find a teacher to assist when someone was physically fighting with them. He said that the kids could do that. I ended the conversation by saying that I would encourage Shaun to seek a teacher because "I won't teach my child that they should be a victim and that, I'm sorry he was shoving in line but in this case I certainly do understand why he did it."

I don't think the teachers will be giving me any awards soon. And I think that I'll be getting to know the principals quite well this year.

Okay...not gone just yet!!

I need to vent for a sec...

Most of you have read my woes with my my S-DD (the oldest that lives in TN and seemed to take offense that I did not call her the day Savannah was born)...So since the mean emails...I have tried to call her three times..she won't answer (this has been two months now)...her birthday was yesterday...so as I always do, I got her a gift, made something personal for her, got a card....packaged it up and sent it to her...UPS of course...package was delivered on Thursday..checked online...Called her last night and left birthday wishes on the answering machine...sent her birthday wishes on facebook........NOT ONE WORD FROM HER!!! Besides really hurting my feelings when she sent me the mean emails...now I am really hurt that she won't acknowledge that we are reaching out to her. DH is a bit angry with her now. He says that he did not raise his children to be so selfish and "snotty" (LOL...his word). I know her biggest problem is we did not come to see the kids play football...but when it's a long drive, you have to plan...I asked her months in advance to get me their schedules as soon as possible..reminding her many many times....finally she sent it in one of those mean emails (after the season was half way over)....really too late for us to plan anything. We have always been the ones to put forth all the effort, and that is fine...when parents divorce, the father can have a lot of guilt feelings, and DH always did, but she is 29 yo now...I am thinking she needs to realize her father is getting older and things just don't come as easy to him as they used to. Traveling is very wearing on him...especially since he had the blood clots in his lungs (gotta stop every hour for him to walk).

Okay...I am done venting...my book has been written..LOL!!

REally have to go now!!

Linda - I know exactly the situation you are talking about. We are having the same kind of troubles with my stepdaughter. Only - we have NO idea what we did to upset her. Have not seen or heard a word from her since august 16th when we took her back to her mother's house. She didn't bother to call or text her dad for his birthday either.
Hope things improve for your family!

Linda P...glad to see you here. How are things going? School keeping you busy?

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh it's a forum full of my favorite LINDAS!!!!!!!! how fun is that?????

Wow!!! You guys need some Clara-squishy-eye-popping hugs, all three of ya!!! :)

LindaS, I totally love your confrontation with the principal. Shaun is going to grow up very well adjusted with his momma on his side!! There is nothing better than that!! :) And I'm really impressed with the accessibility with principals. I guess I always had this notion that you could never talk directly to a principal unless it got really bad...I don't know where I got that feeling, but I'm really glad to know that since I'm going to have to deal with the public junior high when Quentin plays football there next year. *sigh* hugs to you, darling!!

LindaW, ohhh girlie, you just vent away here!!! I'm sooo sorry that your SDD is sooo "snotty". I have seen such childish behavior lately from adults and I'm just thinking if we could all grow up and follow the golden rule, we'll be great!! LOL!!! You would have heard me in my house this week say a number of times, "is that how you want to be treated????" it's nuts, I know! You've put forth the effort...now sit back and enjoy those babies and your girlies!!!

LindaP, hope your birthday was fantastic this past week!! :) sooo glad to see you here!!! Hugs to you with your SDD issue!!!! crazy, crazy!!

sooooo today we have our first playoff game...I have to admit something outloud so that I can move on...I hope we lose!! Can you believe i said that??? If we win, we will be on the course to one of three bowl games. Two of those games are going to be played at the same time as the only performance of Cats that Cora is in. We've already spent $50 on tickets for that performance. We can't switch the tickets, which wouldn't work anyway, cause I have a rehearsal and a recital to play on the other two nights of performances!!! omgosh...this is what has been stressing me out so much lately...this Cats production!! It has been sooo mind-bogglingly crazy schedule-wise! I just don't even want to deal with the fact that I couldn't see one of my children perform...either in cats or in a football bowl game. So for me...i hope we lose!! LOL!!! you guys can make me feel better about this admission, i know it!! LOL!!!

Otherwise, we are just living it up!! I'm making a new mini-quilt today....it's gonna be sooo fun!! i am loving the idea of a mini quilt. It's darling and precious, and doesn't cost anything since I have enough of everything to make it!! yay!! LOL!!!

Okay...i'm off to play around before our big game today at 3ish....love you guys and I'll keep you posted on the playoff saga!! LOL!!!

love you all!! (ps...even though we don't celebrate halloween, have a wonderful time tonight eating TONS of your children's candy!! LOL!!!)

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh I come back to pumpkin bread and latte's...Yum!!! You shouldn't have ;) Thank you LindaS!!!

LindaS - ROCK ON MAMA!!!! You are perfectly right in what you said!!! That should be handled fast especially with the zero tolerance policies on bullying. You sooo will be getting an award this year - The greatest Mama award ;) That always trumps the school ones!

LindaW & LindaP- Wow (((hugs))) I am so sorry you are both going through this now. Stay strong.

Sally - Awww that is just such a hard spot to be in. I know I would not be able to chose between two of my children's events either (If I had another child per se). Fingers crossed it will work out. Let's do it this way....Let's hope "Q" has the game of his life however they lose so that there isn't a scheduling conflict, but "Q" still has one rocking game!!!! I think that sounds fair ;) Good Luck "Q"!!!!!! Nick had his last game today and our field was one big Mud Bowl! ** He was covered!! They won so they ended on a high note.

Well I am slowly crawling out of the terrible place I have been drowning in the last two months :) Hopefully it won't take to long for me to get back to normal :) Have a Happy Halloween Everyone!!!

hi!! Happy Halloween!! Happy Saturday!!!!

my kids are all getting ready to get out there- hopefully before it starts to rain.

This thread has me so happy! Linda P *and* Kat!!!! yay!! Sending huge hugs to you both! I have missed you ladies!!!

Linda S- hugs to you and Sydney. I remember one year Cait was too sick to T or T and it was so sad! Hope you all feel better.
Good for you Re: the principal. I am the same way. I'll be the first to admit my kids aren't always angels, but I am not going to let them just get beaten up either.

Linda W- that is so not right!!! Really rude. I am sorry for you :(

Linda P- good luck with your SDD too. Must be something in the air with scutchy kids.

Kat- hang in there babe!!!! We are here for ya!!

Sally Sally!! I hope thatQ has a personal best game, but the team overallloses. Does that work for you? And I get it- my friend's son was on his state All Star traveling baseball team the past 2 summers and she would say the same thing by mid-Aug. It just gets to be too crazy!

Love you all!

Thanks for the encouragement ladies about Shaun. After I told my mom, you were the next group that I wanted to tell. How lucky I am to have the O!!!

I'm wondering about Q as well. And believe me, I'm already worried about how I will juggle my two with them being that close in age. But before that, I need to juggle Sarah and Zeb who will both be playing HS basketball this year. The price of talented kids I guess.

okay...we are back home!!!

The packers lost 32-13...first the bad...the first quarter was a nasty nasty quarter...fumbles, interceptions, 4 touchdowns for the other team...then we scored a TD...then the second half came. It was great! Our boys never never gave up!! We played up until in the last 11 seconds, our QB threw a TD pass to one of the little boys who has never gotten a chance to even hold the ball all season, and HE CAUGHT IT!!!!! OMGOsh!! it was the best ending EVER!!!! AND my baby boy got to play a LOT on defense!!! I was totally thrilled!! :) and I got some really great shots...can't wait to D/L...

so Mr Gorgeous just announced that he was getting a little extra travel money so we are going out to Chili's for dinner! YUMMMMMMM!!! the first time in 6 weeks!! that is saying a lot for me! and it makes it that much more special! so anyway, I'm thrilled...gotta go...i'll be back this weekend - i promise!!!

Ugh, that's just plain rotten, Linda! I don't know what the school expects but of course Shaun needs to defend himself. The last thing kids need is the stress of other kids picking on them! big (((((hugs))))) to him and you

Well here I am two days in a row! Amazing I know.
Thanks for the birhtday wishes Sally - It was a great day, my leadership class planned a party with LOTS of food, especially chocolate and some really yummy pumpkin bars!
Here's what's had me so crazy busy - school! We have had a lot of changes this year and it's about killing me. We moved to block schedule so that has really taken a lot of extra planning and preparation time. We also got new computers - Macbooks. I've used a pc for the last twenty plus years and ALL of my stuff for teaching and FFA is on PC format programs. It's been a struggle to get the parrellels (which allows you to run windows on the mac) to work right. Lots of network and server issues. I also found a new Promethean board - like a smart board sort of - installed in my room. Way cool but one more piece of technology to learn! I also have new testing remotes to go with it so every test or quiz or any assessment for that matter has to be re typed into the new program. With six different classes and 147 students it's keeping me crazy busy.
We just returned from the national FFA Convention in Indianapolis. I had a team competitng in the communications event - so lots of practice and prep time with them since August.
All in all, we are good. Noelle the senior in college, helped to chaparone my 18 students at convention. She flew down with 13 of them the day after I left with the ag communicaitons team. So it was really fun to spend a week with her! Jenna the sophomore in college is back in California and back to rowing. She's having trouble with her knee again and they're sending her to physical therapy. She tore her acl her junior year in hs and it's never been quite the same. Ali is a junior in high school and just simply cracks me up most of the time. She went to the Halloween Dance Friday night and then out to watch scary movies with a bunch of her friends last night. She's finishing up Volleyball season and then basketball will start for her.
I'm still designing and trying to keep up there. I've got a new communications team so have been helping them with their graphics too. Our leadership contests - public speaking etc - start next week. So we've just finished the national round and now it starts all over again!
I'll try to pop in more often - I know I've been rather like my stepdaughter, I'll try to remedy that! Thanks for all the positive thoughts with regard to her.

Sounds like it worked out perfectly Sally! And the Chlli's supper was the perfect touch!

Good news---gave Syd Motrin at 7 pm and still she is feverless.

Bad news---I have Vicks on my chest and am coughing a lot! I also ache like crazy...but no fever. Hopefully, it's just a one day thing. I had pneumonia in November 2004 while we waited for Sydney. So I'm a little bit nervous about this.

But more good news!! It's FALL BACK day! Yahoo!!!

Wooot! Fall Back is great- but only for that extra hour of sleep. The rest of it -boo- I like my extra sunlight at the end of the day.

And here, I officially give to Clara the keys to the world. For the next 6 months (or whenever DST begins again) the world revolves around Clara and PST. :)

Hope all of you who were able to go trick or treating had fun/ We were out for about 2 1/2 in the rain. The girls had fun and what's a little water. Then we toasted pumpkin seeds and watch the Vampire Diaries. Even though I am the "mom" I had fun with Cait and her friend.
Of course, today I am so sore! And I don't get the healing benefits of candy! Wah! LOL

Going to be a quiet day here (hopefully) gotta catch up on life, get ready for the week. It is a short school week for us- NJ Teacher's Convention so the schools are closed Thurs and Fri. We are going to PA at some point too.

Hope evenyone has a wonderful, relaxing day!
