like a freaking WAR ZONE??? I swear people found a way to buy professional fireworks. I didn't need to go to the strip - we had our own firework's display in the field across from us, and our next door neighbor shot them of IN FRONT OF OUR DRIVEWAY!!!!!!
I am normally loving fireworks and I love celebrating Independence day with the flags and all the red, white, and blue, apple pie, etc... but last night was beyond the pale. We have dogs and Gizmo was literally shaking in the corner with his tail down and ears down crying. He couldn't be consoled even in our laps! He just kept pacing, jumping, and then hiding at every boom.
It didn't stop until 2 am.
I am so tired, and we are meeting our daughter's boyfriend's mom today for the first time. This is very serious and most likely we will be family. They're already talking as if that's a foregone conclusion.
I gotta go figure out a way to cover up these dark circles and bags under my eyes!!

.) Anyway-- the Hispanics I've lived with have quite a tradition regarding fireworks. They make them out of gunpowder and newspaper. They sound like bombs and go on for 6-8 hours EVERY holiday!!! Starting at midnight on Christmas Eve. It seems that has translated to similar here, LOL. I still would rather the fireworks continue to be, versus them disappearing. I saw so very few flags flying for the 4th this year here. In Ohio they were everywhere- even lining the streets!!
