So ... I started looking around for a tablet and I have no clue what to look for.
What's the difference between a fun tablet and a craft tablet or a Pen and Touch? What size is best for scrapping and designing?

Any idea where I can find one for a good prize?

I'd appreciate your input.

I have been a tablet user for.... geez- probably 3-4 years. I have a hard time scrapping with a mouse. I had a Wacom Graphire, but my MIL upgraded me for Christmas last year to a bamboo craft. I don't know what the difference is between the different Wacoms, but I would strongly suggest sticking with that brand. I have a tablet for my laptop made by Genius and compared to my Wacom, it isn't anywhere near as responsive to use.

The size I have is the smaller one. The active part of the tablet is 5x7 -give or take a bit. That size is great for scrapping, My MIL has an Intuous which is a larger tablet and I have a hard time using that compared to mine.

Have fun shopping!

I have the Bamboo Craft, the same size as Chris's and I LOVE IT! There is NO WAY I would ever ever go back to a mouse to scrap with!!! I love it for erasing, especially doing outline work! If anything my tablet is really too small now that I have a bigger 18" screen laptop, to move something across the screen I have to move my pen across to the end of the tablet, lift it and then move the pen to the side of the tablet again to drag the object the rest of the way. The size of the tablet should be in ratio to your screen. Having a bigger tablet with a smaller screen would create its own set of problems perhaps, as certain parts of the tablet would be callibrated to certain points on your screen I would think.

and Nadine I find all the different names annoying as well!!! Some of the new Innous tablets have the 'touch' function where you can use just your fingertips on the tablet to move stuff around............. I don't think I would use that facility as it would mean have to put down the pen?? but I haven't tried so don't know for sure. I am keeping my eye on ebay, and as soon as a larger tablet is available at a reasonable price I will be on it!!!

I have a wacom bamboo and I don't love it. I could never get used to it. I like the concept and all but it ended up just not being my thing. With my laptop, which I rarely use at a table, I find it awkward and odd to use. It doesn't do anything for me that I can't do with a mouse. I keep waiting for the ah-ha moment to come when I realize why I have to have it but a year has gone by and it hasn't happened yet. I think I am possibly going to be selling it but am not sure about pricing and stuff. Have to check into that.

Oh no, Clara, sorry that you never got used to it. I pretty much gave up on the "touch" part of it. I still find it much easier to use the pen than my fingers.
But I only use the mouse if I am reading articles only and I want to scroll.
I bet if you put it on ebay, you sell it quickly.

hehe!! I still have to decide if I want to sell it. I'll check out my PM a little later today.

Back with another question:
Right now, I can get the tablet for $110 at Amazon.
From your experience, will the prize rise or drop after Christmas?
