:hurt:

Rita is my son's Chilean rose tarantula. She is cool, very mellow, and nice to admire from the outside of her tank. Somehow, she escaped from the tank today and is lost in my son's room. I am pretty cool with the pets that we have, snakes, spiders, a whip scorpion, all have been fine. BUT, however cool she may look, Rita is a little bit too much for me to want to handle. And I sure as heck don't want her roaming freely in my house!

Which Saint do you pray to for finding lost objects, St. Anthony? Whomever I need to pray to, I will.

OMG!! I would be freaking out!!! I am not a big fan of spiders, but a tarantula would push me over the edge!!! Hope that you can locate her and have someone else put her back where she belongs! :fear: :spider:

OOOOOOOOh my god, I'm frightened of spiders, so a tarantula would never come into my house. Have you found them yet? my god my hair comes straight up just thinking about it

Had to google this tarantula and she must look lovely but even I wouldn't want her on the loose in my house.
Good luck getting her back home!!!!

Feeling Owsome at the O!

I would be afraid to hurt her so I hope that she's found. I did have a spider friend until my nosy neighbor decided (without my consent) that my roses and tre 9where the spider lived) had to prune.
Nopt the right season and also not a pro

Whew!!! She was found tucked under the heating vent. This species of tarantula is very docile but will get skittish if it feels threatened. Scott had barricaded the area surrounding her and coaxed her out of the vent using a pencil. He was lying on the floor facing her when she charged at his face. He said that logically he should have just let her get close enough and then scoop her up and put in her the tank. Instinctively, he did what most of us would have done- yelped and jumped back :fear:

She actually *is* very pretty in a tarantula sense LOL
Right after she molts, her hair is very bright and shiny and the contrast with the colors is very sharp.
Don't worry. I won't share pics!

Glad you were able to find Rita!! :) A lot of ours down here are venomous so I am not all that keen on spiders! lol!

At the old place we used to have a small tree snake (very harmless) that used to live outside, but on occasion would pop into the house and curl up on a seat in the sun! Don't have a pic of him/her doing that but here he/she is
out in the front bottle brush tree where he/she used to 'hand out' in! lol! :)

He/she was so very pretty, with beautiful colourings.

He/she was intent on getting one of the little lizards that used to scurry around on the deck but he missed out on this one. :) lol!

Ona, the snake is very cute! I bet it would startle me though if I went to sit down and he was in my seat. :)
I wouldn't be too keen on spiders if they were mostly venomous here. Wehave brown recluse and black widows in NJ but I haven't seen any myself. But Australia, you are a place unto your own.

That spider freaks me out. But I love the picture of that little snake. That doesn't freak me out at all. Whatever that says about me.
