Ok, so I haven't read these, but probably should. I think I'd probably like them. I have a question though. A friend wants me to go see the movie with her. Should I see the movie before I read the book? or visa versa?

I thought the movie was good having read the books but I think it is a bit corny if you haven't. But that's just me. YOu could like it just fine as long as you don't forget that it is a teen drama so it is going to be a bit cheesey in some parts.

well...i was going to say you might like it better not having read the books. I found myself thinking about how much was left out and being disappointed about that! *lol*

I haven't seen the movie yet but I tend to read the book first. I lose interest in the book if I already know the ending.

I read the books and then braved opening night of the movie. I was disappointed with it but being with all the other crazy ladies was fun. Later I went with my husband and he really liked it. So I think you would enjoy the movie more if you saw it first. But if you are going to pick one or the other get the books on CD and listen while you scrap.

Hmmmm.... I'm kind of torn now because, like Jessica, I will probably get bored if I already know the end too. But, like most of you said, it's kind of disappointing with how much gets left out (doesn't that always seem to be the case).

I think I'll just read the books - seems like that will be the better choice for me :)

I usually prefer seeing the movie first, cuz then im not going "what huh, where is this, wait that wasn't in the book!" then later i read the book and can just click in. but it is different for everyone.

I wanted to read the book first...because I didn't want to start a long book knowing what was basically going to happen. I think it helped when I watched the movie...cuz they leave out a lot of inner dialogue (like Bella thinking...which she does a lot).

Like the little wise one said (Cora)...everyone is different. :)

Thanks for sharing ladies!

I really would love to read book 5 if she completes it. I agree completely agree with everyone about book 2. At least I wasn't the only one who felt that way!

I have to say that book 4 was my favorite. I'm not saying why, I don't want to spoil anything...lol If you haven't read them you should!

I'm off to check out the site you gave. :)

Finished book 3 today! OMG! I can't wait to get into number four! Has anyone read Stephanie Meyers new book? I think it's called Host?

Everyone that I've spoken to says that four is really good too! Can't wait! But - I started Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman today so will burn through that first and then bite into Breaking Dawn.
Incidentally - The Twilight movie is on at our cheap theatre, $3 a ticket. I'm going!

I read the Host. I liked it. It is a science fiction book about these aliens that over take human bodies. but they believe they are doing good because they are peaceful creatures. then there is a love story, friendship and some other stuff that happens. I enjoyed it.

It's on my wishlist at swaptree. Have you guys heard of this site? It's awesome! I've had one successful trade...still waiting for another... If you have a lot of books and want to trade them for different ones, you should check it out!

I'm reading The Host right now. I think it came out in between books 3 & 4 of Twilight. It's pretty good! She sure has a way of describing things!

man, oh, man, oh, man!

I borrowed book 1 from a friend, loved it! She wasn't done reading book 2 yet, so I ran out and bought it. I figured I would finish it and borrow book 3 & 4 before she had even finished book 2. So, I didn't buy 3 & 4.

I stayed up most of the night reading it and next morning - ice storm. I'm stuck at home done with book 2, dying for book 3 and its now the 3rd day of not being able to get out. I am seriously annoyed that I just didn't go ahead and buy the whole series when I could.

gaaaaaaaaah! this bites! ;)

I am just starting the first book. My friend sent me all 4 of hers. :) I'm excited to find out if I will love it or hate it. My sister didn't fall in love with them, but most of my friends went nuts for them. So, we will see!

Vicki I hear you they are addicting aren't they? It still amazes me that they are actually written for teenage girls? Last night the library called and said book 4 was in! I ran out in the messy weather because I knew we were going to have an Ice Storm! I just had to find out what happens next :) Can't wait to snuggle in and read tonight!

I know! There are some parts that I am not sure I would want my teenage girls reading (thankfully I've got about 11 years to wait until they are teenagers :)), but I am pretty conservative. I loved them all and my hubby likes to tease me that I became a silly teenager when reading them.

I only bought the 4th book. I was able to borrow the others but the 4th hadn't come out yet. So when the 4th came out the person I had borrowed from was reading her own copy so I needed to get my own.

I think the book is fairly appropriate for teens. The sex scenes are kept very discreet and only happen after they are married. Plus there isn't much that is gruesome, so personally i am okay with my daughter reading them as a teenager. That's me though. Although they will no longer be the crazy then. So, what will the next craze be? I need something new.

Oh Vicki, I can totally relate. I finished book one and went straight to barnes and noble and bought the other three :)
