Snakes!

Are you afraid of snakes, whether they are poisonous or not? I am terrified of ANY snake. I came home, from a doctor's appointment (where my blood pressure was extremely high) and I was getting something out of my little Mini Cooper back and I looked down and there was a "wiggle" out of the corner of my eye. I almost had a heart attack! I tried to calm myself (and b/p) but it was useless. It took me 10 minutes to find the varmint and get it out of my garage. If I hadn't found it I'm sure I'd be parking my car outside now! :) You can be guaranteed I will be looking in front of my garage before I click my door opener from now on. I'm cringe just typing this. :)

Are any of you as ridiculous, as I am, about snakes?

Oh no, I don't like them either. I grew up in Florida, and we often found them inside our house. In all the years I've lived in NC, I've only seen a few. Hope you don't have any more, Danesa.

Snakes don't bother me---my oldest daughter had a pet snake many years ago (his name was Slinky), and I have worked with them in the past. I'm not familiar with the different types you can find outdoors, so I tend to keep my distance.

Okay - when we decided to move to Oklahoma - I joined a "Snakes Of Oklahome Group" and decided that I was going to get over my fear of snakes. It really helped and the people who run those groups (on FB) really, not only, de-sensitize your fear of them, but point out why they're important to the environment. I haven't seen a live snake since moving here, but we found a snake skin in the well house. I would have totally FREAKED OUT in the past, but I actually picked it up (without oven mitts) and my dh took pictures of it. I'm still on the lookout, but I think I realize their "place" in the ecosphere.

Thank goodness, I don't! Gary had a pet snake when I first met him. He was gorgeous, a Burmese Python but he sold him when he got to about 5'. I would hold him when he was smaller but once they are as long as you are tall-- not a chance! My son also has a pet snake. He had 2 but one died from a metabolic disorder two years ago. They were/are albino garter snakes and are small and have cute little smiles. The one left is named Patches because he lost an eye before Scott got him. His good eye grew enormous to compensate for the other. "Patches" is an homage to pirates. :D

I don't mind the snakes we see outside, we have rat snakes and garters often in the yard. We do have rattlesnakes and copperheads in the area but I haven't seen one nor would I want to.

Snakes do not bother me. We had a corn snake come in our house once. Luckily I was able to keep the dogs away and David took it outside. I I know there are poisonous snakes in Florida but I haven't seen one. I am fine with that.

I can tell there are a lot more brave people than me, here! :) Kudos to those of you who don't jump out of your skin when you see a snake, like me. Since my last post, on this, I've had people tell me they had a snake come into their house and the only way they can figure is through the drains in their tubs? What??? Well, believe me, my tub drains have the stoppers down on them now. Why do people have to make me paranoid? hahaha
