Is it only me or is it slow getting on the site or anywhere else here? I don't have a problem with any other site online but this one lately. ??

It's always really slow for me when I try to go to the store and the forum as well but today when I try to go on the Gallery it will not load for me at all..

having a hard time with the gallery - so slow, often wont even load
I couldn't open the gallery yesterday directly at all. A couple of times it appeared to open, but just showed a blank page. So, I tried opening the forum first, then went to the gallery, and that worked. I keep a link on my desktop to the gallery, forum, and store. Today the gallery is opening fine for me.

It is strange that it is so slow for everyone at different times. My internet here, down in Tassie is slowish most of the time so it appears 'normal' for me here as well as other places. lol! :)

When I went in yesterday evening to comment on the layouts that Vicki S had chosen for Monday's newsletter because I had an eye issue, I ran into some weird gallery delays, but it was only on the first few, then everything was fine. Yeah, you never know when weird slow stuff is going to happen, I guess.

I have to say, our guidelines state that it is supposed to be 600x600, but TONS of people do 800x800...I could totally see that affecting the gallery, which the gallery is usually where I have the most issues :(

Edited to add that I KNOW this, because I am doing the layouts for the newsletter. Anyone reading this, PLEASE do 600x600, you will help the server, and you also help ME because I don't have to resize your layout on the newsletter side :heartpumpred: A few less steps for me, but BETTER for Oscraps' space :heartpumplove:

800x800 is in the gallery guidelines here... I guess this is because most designers want 800x800...
Yeah, I was just texting with Vicki and she told me she had upgraded it to that...but on the main gallery it still says 600x600, and that is all that I have seen since I have been working on the layouts for the newsletter...sorry...LOL It DOES help the server if y'all can do smaller...just sayin' :beatingheart: If certain designers want larger, maybe email them?

And for me, 600x600 is all I need when doing my own ads or newsletter...I don't know what the other designers are using the larger layouts for...maybe they do larger than 600x600 in their newsletters...not sure :)

The size difference (600x600 or 800x800) really makes a difference to me as my (small) monitor does NOT show the whole image of the larger size. I really wish it weren't what people use. But whatever is needed I guess.

It depends on what the designer wants to use the layout for, if they are using it for things like videos etc sometimes the size required can be 1500x1500.

In the gallery people have the choice of posting 600x600 or 800x800 (but those need to be kept to under 200kb) as per the guidelines. There is a reference to 1000x1000 on the screen when uploading a layout but that can't be changed by us so it's a customisation which would cost money to do so. All of that is addressed in the Guidelines which everyone should be reading before posting, the link to the guidelines is on the main Gallery screen. :) IMHO I think the intermittent slowness is not so much connected to the size of the layout but more so to the current conflicts happening in the world which in turn would certainly would be impacting numerous internet providers worldwide as well.
