i got a question for those who dont use yoru own pictures....for layouts of course.....where do you find the pictures to use?

I borrow children from my friends and relatives- with their permission of course! You may want to check Dady's layouts- she frequently uses photos that are stock and credits them.

ahh yeah i was looking at stock photos to use but i wasn't s ure how to credit them without putting it on the LO i never thought to put it in the description DUH haha!!

One thing I want to point out is that if you're going to be doing LOs for a creative team, you have to hold the copyright to the photos... because the designer will be using your LOs to promote their work, and they'll get in trouble if it's discovered they don't have commercial rights to those photos.

Kristy - you may also use any picture not marked as private on photobucket because in their terms of use it says:

6.1 Photobucket does not claim any ownership rights in the text, files, images, photos, video, sounds, musical works, works of authorship, applications, or any other materials (collectively, "Content") that you post on or through the Photobucket Services. By displaying or publishing ("posting") any Content on or through the Photobucket Services, you hereby grant to Photobucket and other users a non-exclusive, fully paid and royalty-free, worldwide, limited license to use, modify, delete from, add to, publicly perform, publicly display, reproduce and translate such Content, including without limitation distributing part or all of the Site in any media formats through any media channels, except Content marked "private" will not be distributed outside the Photobucket Services. Photobucket and/or other Users may copy, print or display publicly available Content outside of the Photobucket Services, including without limitation, via the Site or third party websites or applications (for example, services allowing Users to order prints of Content or t-shirts and similar items containing Content). After you remove your Content from the Photobucket Website we will cease distribution as soon as practicable, and at such time when distribution ceases, the license to such Content will terminate. If after we have distributed your Content outside the Photobucket Website you change the Content’s privacy setting to "private," we will cease any further distribution of such "private" Content outside the Photobucket Website as soon as practicable. Some of the Photobucket Services are supported by advertising revenue and may display advertisements and promotions, and you hereby agree that Photobucket may place such advertising and promotions on the Photobucket Services or on, about, or in conjunction with your Content. The manner, mode and extent of such advertising and promotions are subject to change without specific notice to you.

So, the other side of this is that if you have pictures on photobucket and they aren't marked private any yahoo can use your pictures also. It's not a good place for personal photos.

ohh all my photobucket albums are private :) i never thought about using photobucket....yeah i am just trying to figure something out for CT LO's with some of the kits i dont have pics that go with them LOL i guess the same goes for Flickr??? hmmmmm

No, I think Flickr is different. I remember something on the digishow about moving things to Flickr FROM Photobucket bc of their TOU (Photobucket's TOU that is). So I think Flickr is OK to use.

Each photo on flickr has it's own creative commons licensing, when you create your settings you can give a default CC license. For my stuff on flickr, I wont let ANYONE use my photos because I've had tons of photos stolen and published without my permission. Then, you can set different licensing for each individual photo too.

More on CC licensing:
http://creativecommons.org/

Honestly, coming from a designer's standpoint, I would hate for my CTM's to use photos they don't have WRITTEN permission for - because there have been times where CTMs have used photos without permission, and it comes back on the designer because the photos were used to promote their designs. So, if you're going to pull photos from anything like flickr or photobucket, I'd get written permission from whoever uploaded them. Most people are naive and don't know about licensing when they upload to those types of sites, so not getting permission even if it appears A-OK could really open you up for problems if it's discovered.

Have you thought about posting on facebook and asking family and friends if you could have their photos to scrap? I'm sure if you ask the designers you're CTing for if you could do S4O to get more photos, they'll be fine with it.

Lastly, you might have some luck at:

Again, you need to check the license on each individual photo to see what you can and cannot use them for. The standard licensing does allow limited commercial use, so if they keep to the standard license for the site, then you'll be able to use the photos for CT LOs.

i just posted on facebook asking to use pictures :) i think that will be my best bet or i can go and dig up old baby photos of helena HAHA...not that i have many in sweet poses....man i wish i could have another baby HAHA!

:baby: Better you than me!!!!

FB was a good idea to ask!

It has been known to happen that people post in here asking for different pics too. Sometimes that can help.

Mine did too! What a great decision that was though. We're happy with the 3 boys - we've got enough going on between them all and DH's job so for us it was a good decision. Besides, who can afford $1400/month for childcare?? (and besides, I'll be 41 in May so don't want to be in a wheelchair at a college graduation!)

I meant to ask you (not sure if you mentioned this or not) but did you try google images?

yeah together me and hubs have 4 girls....so we have plenty...but then again im only 29.....and i see now all my friends from high school are just NOW having their babies....makes me go "sigh" lmao ohh well....and im a sahm so there is no childcare costs for us....but then again do i really want to do all the baby stuff all over again??? i finally have NO kids in diapers LOL its a nice feeling LOL

i've googled but i dunno what i could use or not from that? i'd have to go through and read TOU's and dang it im just lazy LOL
