Oscraps

Question time.....do your friends understand your scrapbooking?

I was sitting here today thinking about how few "real" friends (aka the ones outside of my online life) that understand me and my scrapbooking and actually know what it is. I have one cousin who scrapbooks regularly and a couple others that know what it's about. Outside of them, there are very few people who "get it" and know what it's about! At least in my life that is. So do you have people that understand it in your life? Do you ever get together and do crafty stuff with anyone?

nope.....no one in "real life" understands my scrapping. Although DH does look forward to his calendars every year ;>)

After so many years of doing this for a living, the majority of my close, long time friends get it but most strangers just say, "oh, Ok, yeah."

lol they usually try to rack their brains until they come up with someone who may or may not have done some form of something with photos/photo albums lol

We made a huge album for my grandmother and grandfather on their 70th Wedding anniversary, sadly my grandfather never got to see it because he died a few days after and was in the hospital when she got it from us. Each child/grandchild/great-grandchild has a page in it where we share about our family and included memories from our times at their house growing up. My grandmother just absolutely loves it and shows it off to anyone new that comes to the house. It's helped explain a few things about scrapbooking to people and they all love looking through it and reading our memoirs.

Andrea, love the idea of a wedding anniversary album! A wonderful gift for your grandmother. My mother has an old friend and her family did the same thing but not as an anniversary gift. She pulled it out to show us when we visited once.

My sister is the only one of my family who understands what I'm up to because she's always made scrapbooks of her travels. Also made scrapbooks for her children when they left school. She put all the photos of their school years together. She also did another one for each of them when they turned 21. She doesn't scrapbook digitally though.

I have a friend who doesn't scrapbook either but she does send away to get albums printed in book form and she was the one who encouraged me to learn photoshop so I could rescue my old photos. I jumped into the scrapbooking pool from there.

The grandkids love it when I do a page that's about them or something they're interested in and that's it far as anyone else showing an interest. If it wasn't for the feedback here I might have given it away so can't tell you how much I appreciate this site.

Take a bow, Vicki!

Mine somewhat understand LOL! A cousin in law uses My Memories to digiscrap, so she kind of gets it. Other friends supply me with photos, since I don't have any kids and get tired scrapping my dogs haha.

My parents, my sister and my brother understand perfectly my scrapbooking, and they(re providing me with some of their pictures.
My mom is always eager to see my pages, specially the ones where I have some journaling. She has worked on our family genealogy and has gathered some odd facts about our ancestors. So when I am scrapping vintage photos I often use them for my journaling.

Most of my friends don't really understand what it is all about, but when they see my travel albums, they get it! And eventually ask me for some help with their own albums...

I think my fam and friends get it now that I have been doing it for so may years. Also, it's been my "staple" for gift giving and card making so almost everyone around me has been a recipient!

That album was huge, LOL, it's like 4 or 5 inches thick! She has seven kids, twenty plus grandkids and several great grandkids and they all have a page, hehe!

Well I am not quite sure :)
DH does get it and the kids (mum and in laws) get what is digiscrap, as we get a album every year.
the friends... think that I am loosing my time... lol
Designing is an other thing...
how to explain that I make "fake" flower, fake paint or what ever ...
LOL

my working computer (digiwise) is MY computer, and doesn't have ANYTHING beside CS and a few software designs related. and that sound pretty weird to most of teh person I know (DH included) since no one can use it... even Word/excel are ban :)
Oh and how to explain people that , no, you can not meet up for a coffee, because you have a chat planned about digiscrap... or a challenge to prepare or... what ever in this field LOL
I don't speak about scrap anymore IRL, except with "Photoshop" friends (aka advert-designers) and some artist ...

Some of my friends get it, but others can't wrap their heads around why I would waste my time creating things for other people that I don't know LOL!! I tell them that my digi friends are the BEST and lucky me I get to use beautiful products from friends from all over the world, what's not to like about that??? But like Andrea, I think that they all walk away from me and go :loco: My close family understand and so do all of you, so that's all that matters!!
