Oh Font Doctors...

always chatty at the O!!
So, I got a new computer and am getting new fonts. I could just go thru all of my old fonts but I'd rather just find out from you guys where the good fonts are at. I know I can find a million fonts with sites like Dafont when I need them but I'd like to know where you find your fun super secret ones. I have Amanda's fonts and Miss Tiina but where else. I know there's some good ones. I'm trying to be pickier about what I load into my computer because I had so many that I just would never use.

Also...what are your favorite go to fonts for titles and journaling??

It is amazing!! It obviously only previews installed fonts, and most of mine are uninstalled and I just load ones when I am scrapping. I should really do a clean up of my font and uninstall the ones I don't typically use and install better ones.

This is a related subject. Maybe you all know about this but I didn't. I would hear about people HAVING fonts available, but not installing them. I never knew how that was possible. Well, Hello Google! I found this little youtube lesson on how to install fonts in Windows 8 (which I just moved to). I wondered if you had to go to the control panel any time you wanted to install a font. You DON'T! Now I will just store fonts I like in a separate file, right click on one that I'd like to install, and not have to go to the control panel again. Oh that sounds cool!

Here is my tip. I have most of my fonts uninstalled in folders with my scrap supplies. I use ACDsee ao I select the fonts I want to use (With Photoshop closed), Click on Rebuild Thumbnails, Open PS and viola! There they are!

There might be a better/easier way to do this, since this is that way I have been doing it for years. If anyone has a good way to do it, I'd love to know :)

Isn't it nice to be able to see how a sentence actually looks, rather than just Brown Fox or whatever your computer is set ps as a preview?

I was good-- I grabbed a bunch of Sara's fonts but I did uninstall some Creaking Keepsakes fonts. I kept them in my folders, cuz hey, you never know when you need a font that has little bows on the letters :rofl:

Oh! This is a dangerous, dangerous thread! Hi, my name is Johanna, and I am a font addict. I had to skip to the end without reading it so I don't get lost in fontland for hours and hours...I've been known to do that. But I will definitely read it when I have time to fall down the font rabbit hole...
I just downloaded a bunch of awesome fonts the other day but I haven't installed them yet. I will let you know how they work. A lot of mine are from the usual places...but some aren't. I will have to get back to you.

hehe Sara! I have some LD fonts too, I used to get emails for free ones, and they were always so cool!
CK has Free Font Friday and I have picked a few of them up too.
