Networked Hard Drive

always chatty at the O!!
I have a question for you guys. I am currently having some EHD issues and I thought of a solution...but I'd like some feedback from anyone else.

I have a PC laptop and a desktop Mac...I hate having to move my EHD back and forth so I was looking for a networked EHD and found something but I'm wondering if any of you have had this concern and what your answer to that was.

Here is a product I found: http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/products/network_storage/home-network-storage/

Thoughts??

Wow, that looks cool Clara! I'll be interested to hear opinions on this too :pop2:

We use a networked drive...not exactly either one of these products, but seems similar to the 2nd.

We use it wirelessly, and it can be slow, especially for accessing tons of photos :)

One of the problems we have not been able to solve, but it is hopefully product specific...there is sometimes trouble rendering thumbnails, which is a pain when you are trying to select photos!

But it does beat moving an EHD around.

This sounds like a fabulous solution Clara!! I have a Seagate EHD and I absolutely love it, never had an ounce of trouble with it.

I'm headed to BB to get their take on these products.

Diane - I had a feeling it would be slower...I think I am okay with that. :) Sure beats moving the EHD around or losing the info altogether.

We have a home network set up but don't have any additional equipment. It was just set up through Windows 7 - home group and network. I didn't set it up myself but its great to transfer files back and forth between our two desktops, laptop and netbook.

So...I got a 2T Seagate Go Flex. It was fairly easy to set up...easier on the PC than the Mac. It seems pretty fast so far. I haven't tried to use anything yet so we'll see how it goes when I do.

Awesome Clara! All of our computers and printers are network, but aside from calling my adorable IT Guy (honeyyyyyyy, help!!!) I know nothing about it.

Good luck!

mine is seagate as well ... but it's not wireless and so far I have no problem with it ... but since I'm not using Mac, I don't know if there's any issue about it.
But when I bought it ... a friend told me that the setting is different and once it's on Mac if you want to move that to PC - you need to re-format it
But again ... I am not an IT savvy LOL ...

Charlize...if you format the EHD on your PC to exFAT it is readable on both platforms. That's what I was doing before I started having issues with the drive itself. I was always switching back and forth between computers.

Linda - this EHD only cost $159 and it was really easy.

The crazy thing Clara is that I "grew up" through the IT world. Still am there...except now as a leader. Maybe that's why I hate messing with this stuff! I may need to take a look at "really easy" though!
