Need a good Photo Scanner

clarabear

always chatty at the O!!
So, i need some advice on a good photo scanner. Something that also doesn't leave the white around the page. Any suggestions? A feeder would also be nice but not sure if that is possible.

Well, I got a photo printer and scanner last summer. It's a Canon Pixma Pro MP 790? I can't remember the numbers for sure. And I really like it. But it was an investment and it does more than scan, so I'm not really sure if that's what you want. :-)

we have a Canon, Canoscan 4400F. Peter uses it all the time and loves it. he scans all his old pictures.

We also have a all in one printer scanner, but do not really know the quality of that, I only use it to make a copy or a quick scan (don't want to set up the scanner when it is resting in it's box)

Mine is "old" in relative terms, Epson Perfection 3170. My FIL got it for me a few years ago, so it was probably close to top of the line back then. I love it. It scans photos and negatives. Its software is easy to work with- has auto, home and "professional" modes depending on how much control you want over it.

I scan with that and print with an HP photosmart printer and that combo is very good for me.

Gary has a cheaper all-in-one printer and scanner- which is great for the quick stuff like Diane said.

Mine is an HP....it does a good job, but it's not the BEST that you can get...BUT...I bought it because you can scan negatives and 35mm slides with it.

I will ask my Son IL...he knows quite a bit about these things (he used to work with his Dad and they sold them)

I've always used Epson - scanners & printers and never been disappointed.
My scanner Epson Perfection 1480? is 4 years old and I'd love a new one but can't really justify it as the old one works fine - it does negs and slides too.

The printer Epson R380 does a super job - I compared one of my 8x8 prints to same Persnickety print - ok, I didn't use their super paper and PP contrast & depth of colour was slightly better but for quick gifts I don't hesitate to use my printer - only problem is price of ink!! around $90+ for 6 inks
OK I'll shut-up now :)
