I had my check last month, I hate it but never miss an appointment!
Here in the Netherlands they check the ages 50 - 75! Also every other year.
And it is also free.
Good for you!! Not a pleasant thing to do, but necessary.
It's weird considering the US isn't known for its phenomenal healthcare-- We are recommended to go every year, and it is free as long as you have insurance. I credit the passage of the ACA for helping me get diagnosed early. I had been putting my mammo off because I couldn't afford it. As soon as the ACA passed and they were covered as preventative care, I scheduled my appt and got the great (not really great) news that I had cancer. But it was small and easily treated so that part was great
I get them yearly as my mother had breast cancer she was cancer free to 10 years but then it came back other places. Ugh. Hard to say goodbye. My daughter gets them too.
Yes, mammograms are sooooo important! I found out I had triple negative breast cancer thanks to my mammogram in 2023. The biopsy confirmed it. It was the size of a number two pencil eraser so it was very small. The type I had is typically aggressive and spreads quickly. I thank the Lord I went for my mammogram. It can be easy to forget to schedule them.
I started getting them at 40 and when I went in for my yearly in 2016, the facility had just gotten a new 3d mammogram machine. I could opt to do that if I wanted to pay for it. Otherwise, my insurance would pay for the regular. I decided to do it for $99 and it found my cancer. So, I suppose that was a $100 well spent...
