Lockdown

We, in the Netherlands, are in total lockdown again. Only the necessary stores remain open, but school, day care, public places and so on will all be closed until January 19.
A hard way to end this year and to begin the next year for a lot of people.
For me life goes on, I can deal with it, but I'm so sorry for all the lonely people, the young people who miss out, and most of all for all those people with businesses that will get into trouble.
Covid causes a lot of suffering for many people.

How are you all dealing with this awful situation? I hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

COVID finally hit close to home. My daughter began symptoms last weekend and it was confirmed a week ago today. She is an aid for a Kindergarten teacher who had it. We have decided not to have our Christmas gathering this year which is the saddest part of this whole mess! My kids live in 4 different states so our gatherings are precious and few! It is what it is! We are going to try to gather in January.

We already had a lockdown at the beginning of this year, and have been living in semi lockdown in Belgium for a while.
Yesterday we learned that my father-in-law has tested positive in the retirement home. He is demented, only 6 weeks ago that his wife passed away and no one is allowed to visit him now. Very sad, as Jeanette says, so many elderly people who now feel lonely in their home, or retirement home where visits have decreased. Your mind says it has to be for the sake of safety, but intuitively this is so difficult!

I think it will be the hardest holiday in our live, big hugs and hopefully she doesn't get too sick your daughter

I don't know why people are so fake positive for the next year?! It's pretty clear that it will be horrible. My country is in partial lockdown. Schools are virtual, daycare, restaurants, all stores who aren't for food are closed or online. People savings are melted, crime go high, many robberies, new case of kill every week.
Almost every day some restaurant is caught with illegal party, and at the same time people don't visit their extended families to "not put them in risk", many people are left lonely.
The Morning TV shows repeats the hygiene norms, but people continued to not put their mask on the nose, only mouth covered. Used same mask more than 5 hours, and even more than once without laundry. Put mask in their pockets where they keep also coins. Don't sanitize their cell phone when use it outside. And ect. I can't count all now, but they was made list from 10 hygiene mistakes that many people are doing before to get sick.

Social distancing of course is very important. But I'm so piss off from people that visit grocery stores every day, but can't go and visit their grandma!!! There are 10 days left until Christmas, 10 days!, make one big shopping, stay isolated and go to see your family for Christmas!!!
Believe or not you can survive without shopping! But in this situation you never know for which member of your family this could be the last Christmas. It's ridiculous to postpone our lives and skipping the important moments for such a stupid reason, as the excuse: "I couldn't stay isolated"! :tsk:

Best wishes for here, I hope to be one of these that goes lightly true this! It's happened to many people and now their giving blood plasma to helps others.

Veer, so sorry to hear this, it must be very difficult for your family! At least at the retirement home have nurses and people to keep eye on him, he's not completely alone.

I am sending good thoughts to all of you. Everyone has such tough stories to share. :(

My state (New Jersey) never fully came out of lockdown and has been pulling back some restrictions like fewer people allowed into stores at a time.
The holidays will be difficult and my family is trying to come up with some alternative plans for what we normally do to celebrate.

Stay safe. We are confined to household only, no visiting indoor or outdoor but can go to retail or businesses with a mask with limited occupancy. This might change again in the next few wks as the numbers are still rising here.

Stay safe and healthy.

It's an awful thing all around the world. So many are affected one way or the other. I can only hope that next year will be better. Not the first few months, I think, but later on I hope lives will get back to normal. I'm looking forward to Spring!

In France, we came out of our second lockdown today.
And from this evening a curfew is in place from 8pm to 6am.
And for me, I am working from home, and it will be so at least until January 8.
But I'm afraid of the 3rd wave after the holidays and therefore probably a 3rd lockdown.

Take care, stay safe

I am pretty locked down here. Having just come out of 10 days of hospitalization, again, I worry about having been exposed to things I know not of. KWIM? Yikes. :) I am staying as positive as I can be. My 93 year old dad, begs me, every day, to come see him. (He lives almost 5 hrs away) I cannot, because of my immune system and because I don't know what I've been exposed to and don't want to infect him also, in case of the unknown. It's hard on everyone. I especially feel for our seniors, for sure. I agree, it makes me furious, when I see someone without mask on or not on properly. Like I read this week, I've sanitized my hands so much, my notes, I wrote on my inside palms, from 8th grade, are coming through my skin. hahaha I have to try to find things to laugh about to keep my sanity. Best wishes to all of you, ladies, as we get through this season. Hugs.
