I suppose I am the last person, on earth, to discover library audiobooks when traveling. haha I had some suspense novels on my driving trip to Florida and back. Wow, did fly by. I'm glad I had cruise control on when the extremely suspenseful parts happened. :)

Do you like audiobooks?
 
Oh my gosh, I love audiobooks! At my previous job I had a 25-40 minute commute depending on traffic, so I listened to a lot of books while I drove. I didn't even mind when traffic was stop-and-go, because I was focused on the story instead of being frustrated about the traffic. I often would listen to books while I was outdoors weeding my garden or doing some other such mindless chore. Now that I live a mile from my work and live in an apartment, I don't listen to books anymore, but would use them for a road trip in a heartbeat!
 
I need to stop and analyze what I'm read, to found hints, symbolic, or parallels with other stories or my life. I found it difficult to stop a audiobook on a right moment, and many confuses with turn back to the right place. I remember we had lot of fun in my childhood with radio theater, so I expected this to be similar. But I'm afraid my mind is too overwhelmed in present days.
 
I love audiobooks. I will borrow CDs from the library and sync them with my iPod. Or I will borrow them from the library itself. And I use Hoopla.com.
Even better, they are all free!
 
I've always used Overdrive and had the free ebooks, using my library, but it never dawned on me to use the audiobooks, when driving. I like that when I turn the car off (or hit stop when using at home) it automatically stops and then restarts in same place when I resume. It's like going to library day, when in school, and having the librarian read to me. haha Some of us (uhhh ME) are just slow learners. :)

AZK, yes, I love using it when I'm working in the yard now, also. I weeded my whole 8x8 garden, Friday, and it went by so fast. I'm not sure what my one extremely "nosey nellie" neighbor thought when I'd be smiling, commenting or snarling (depending on what section of book I was in). I love keeping her guessing anyways. Kind of my revenge for her being such a grouch. haha
 
I listen to my kindle on text to speech. I'm so used to the computer voice that anytime I get an actual audio book it's too much for me. It's all emotion and different voices - it freaks me out a bit when a woman tries to do a male voice. It kind of takes me out of the moment.


I love to listen to my books while I do chores like laundry or dishes!


I do check out library books on my kindle also :)
 
I listened to most of the Outlander series on Audiobooks and loved them! It was great to hear the Scottish Accents and have the Gaelic pronounced properly.

Davina Porter is the *best* narrator. The Best. She has ruined audiobooks for me by other narrators. I still listen to them but you can always tell that they are "doing voices/accents" whereas she becomes the character and the sheer range of voices and accents are incredible.
