Welcome to the fourth and final week of our July challenges. Our word prompt for July is COURAGE.

Since this is the final week, I thought we could do a more personal prompt to tie the threads of the previous weeks together. We have been thinking about "courage" and the different forms it can take: Moral, Emotional, Intellectual, and Physical as described to us by Sonja. We all are more courageous than we give ourselves credit for. That is a given. Maybe we haven't jumped out of a parachute or given a speech in front of thousands of people. But each and every day we use personal courage as we navigate through our daily lives. So, take a step back, think about your life, and take note of all of the acts of courage you make on a regular basis. Maybe your huge act of courage feels small or inconsequential. But some days, getting out of bed is courageous and you are a hero to those who need you. As you think of these acts, pick one and scrap about it. Maybe it is the act itself or how it makes you feel. You can add journaling if you wish but it is not required.
And remember- starting a personal LO is also an act of courage!

Journaling reads:
My page is a photo from 2014. I had recently finished radiation treatment for breast cancer and was struggling a little emotionally. The Oncology Dept had a Social Worker and one of the Radiation nurses suggested that I stop in to chat with her. The LSW suggested that I go to a local Relay For Life. I felt awkward, my cancer was not life-threatening, I didn't need chemo and I definitely didn't think I deserved any help or recognition. It took a little while to understand that every cancer patient needs the courage to face the diagnosis and the uncertainty of the future.

You can choose to do a single page each week or do a divided template - one part for each week. If you don't have the Divided Template and would like to have it, you can get it here at Dropbox. Thank you to Ona @wombat146 for providing the template choices for us! If you do the template, we would love it if you would post it incrementally. Post one done in the first week, post an image of the two together on the second, and three on the third, and then the finished page on the fourth week.

Again - the template is NEVER a requirement to use, just something fun and different if you want to use it.

Everyone who participates in any of this month's challenges will be entered into a drawing for a $5 gift certificate to Oscraps. You can receive up to four entries into this month's drawing.

I can't wait to see what you have to share about the prompt COURAGE.

Challenge Rules:

You have until 11:59 p.m. CST on JULY 31st to complete your pages for this challenge.

  1. To qualify for the drawing, you need to use 80% Oscraps products that are currently in the store (non-Oscraps products or retired O designer products can be used whether the designer is selling elsewhere or not).
  2. You need to credit all the products used on your page.
  3. You cannot use a page you create for this challenge for another Oscraps challenge.
  4. Upload your page to the Art Journal Gallery and then add your layout to the challenge thread. (Below you will find instructions on adding your page to this thread.)
Adding a linked layout from the Gallery to a thread:
Upload your layout to the gallery first. In your forum post click the Gallery Embed icon (little camera).
This will open your gallery, simply click on the layout you require, then scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click the Continue button.
Your linked layout is now in your post, the image will appear once you have clicked the Post Reply button.

I have waited a week for this post. I knew what I wanted the last courage page to be and so I finished this last week. I was just hoping and praying it would fit the feel of week 4. Chris thank you for the more personal take on courage. Altho all mine were very personal, this is my favorite. This is me.

Posting this is courage part 5. :heartpumppink: A little fear at being vulnerable, yet its the least vulnerable one of the set.

Tracy @AK_Tracy your page leaves me speechless. Also, can I give you a hug for what you said about
vulnerability and how it takes courage to put ourselves "out there". SO true, my friend and I'm so glad you're embracing these challenges. :hug1: :heartpumpred:

Thanks for the great challenge, Chris. I went with a more personal note for this week. This is about the challenges I face on a daily basis and they're getting easier, so I'm doing it! It definitely takes courage.

Really stepping out of my comfort zone posting this!
My journaling reads: "Even though I lead a photography group with over 200 members, I have always said that" I am not a photographer, I just take photos." Many of our members are professional photographers who have been published many times. Out of the blue, a member contacted me and asked for some photos from my area of Pa. And 2 of my photos ended up being published in the Pennsylvania Fish and Game Magazine! When she first contacted me, I almost refused the opportunity, thinking that my photos were not good enough. But I stepped out of my comfort zone and look what happened. Noe I feel more comfortable saying that I AM A PHOTOGRAHER."
