Journaling Cards??

clarabear

always chatty at the O!!
Hey ladies!!

So, I have seen here in the shop and around the digi community that these journaling cards are all the new rage. They are in kits, freebies and often sold on their own. I know a lot of people are using them for Project Life also.

So, here's the deal...I don't get them. I understand them for Project Life, but I don't do Project Life. So, I am wondering how you guys use them. I don't want to be left out of this new craze just because it isn't clicking in my head how all they can be used. So, if you use them hook me up with a LO. I want to see what they are all about.

I love journaling cards! Well for journaling and to clip photos to, to slip behind an embellishment, etc. Here is a great tutorial on how to use Anna Aspnes Artsy Kardz!
and here are a couple of my layouts using them

Clara.....I think some of us get stuck inside the box on some of this stuff....I really haven't jumped into this yet either...so this was a fabulous question!!

The pages and info already shown here just goes to show that digital scrapping is so about WHATEVER you want it be!!! "journaling" cards....here we are trying to figure out how to get these into our layouts and "journal" all over them...and LOOOOOOOK at the awesome uses these ladies have shown us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Slap a photo on top of one those artsy cards and you have a GORGEOUS photo that looks like you worked all day on it! (well I know it's just a tad bit more to it)

I used Artsy Kardz Sun Fun for my avatar. :)

I like to use the cards as layering elements, or for clipping pictures. Rarely for journaling though:

I used them here as patterned papers and blended and clipped papers to them:

As crazy-fancy frames for my photos:

For Photos again:

just had fun with them here:

tucked them in pockets:

Oh yeah!!!

Actually, I've been looking at them and wondering too - my biggest query being....they aren't BIG enough for me!! I always have too much to say :peace:

what about grouping a few together and journaling across all of them? That would look cool!

i HATE journaling, so i never thought I would ever use a 'journaling card'.
It's just a few weeks ago that i've discovered the FUN,
specially of the layered ones. They are just like tiny templates.

This was my first time using some:

In this layout i used one to mat the picture

And this one ....... speakes for itself!
I only added a frame! (And a photo ofcourse!)

This one is by Phylis .... she is to humble to post it herself :noidea:

All images are linked, so you can have the gallery size, if you need that.

So, it looks like Anna's cards are different than a lot of other people's cards...with the layers and stuff. What do you guys do with just the simple cards? Matting? Framing? Use as a tag? Journaling of course.

Clara, I use all journaling cards, anna's or other in the same ways, I blend photos to them, layer them under clusters, mat photos with them, sometimes journal on them, build layout foundations with them etc. I have a serious addiction to journaling cards. I buy them all the time. can't help myself.

this one actually uses three, they are tucked behind photos. You know how layered templates have spots for patterend papers and photos? you can totally take a slot that was meant for a paper and stick a card in there instead:

if you have too much journaling, spread it out, you don't have to keep it all in one place, or on one card:

Seriously, I guess my fave thing to do is put photos on them. ;)

so, NONE of those are with anna's. *gasp*

I think I should find some time to read the daily digi post!!

I used a card for the digidares.
And I wasn't paying attention, cause I took the flatten images.
When I noticed that I had the wrong ones, I checked the shop, and (obviously I read the description at the layered kardz) read the discription something like: layered AND flatten images in this zipfile.
So I thought there was something wrong, even send an email to Anna. And after 15minutes, I figured that it was ME reading and looking not in the right place

But I used the flatten image, and this is what I did...

another on using the cards-i just clipped the photo to the "paint" layer in the first two and to the background layer in the last one.

Heather...you are awesome!! Even though Anna's stuff is way out of my comfort zone you and Amber make it all look so easy and even give easy explanations and I have to say whenever I make an artsy page I do love it.
