Internet speed / download time

Yesterday I had troubles with my internet connection. I was downloading from the store, 3 parts of about 50 mb each and it took forever!
I saw the remaining download time changing from 30 minutes to 6 hours to 40 minutes etc. I decided to restart the downloads but they still took forever! finally after 35 minutes the first download was finished. So i waited for the next download and it stopped at 90%, after again a half hour!

So time for drastic measures, i unplugged my router and restarted it,
Started my downloads again, and they finished in under two minutes, as usual!:bliss:

So how is the internet in your part of the world,
How long does it take to download a kit?
 
I have to admit that my downloads are pretty fast but every once in a while things go wonky and I have to wait a while and try again.
 
This WAS always a great problem for me ....
it tooks always hours to have a kit, and as you say, sometimes they broke at 90 % ....

But this was before !
Since a few week they have installed the "optical fiber" and this change the life ! Things who needed hours, are now downloaded in a few seconds ! :bliss: :bliss:

The cheapest cable connection from my provider(ziggo) is still very fast
 
We have ziggo too, and it is more than fast enough for us.

I just had a moment, feeling i went back in time when this was normal!
Internet has changed so much over the years!
 
who remembers that god-awful sound of your dial-up internet connecting? You could start a download, make a cup of coffee, drink it, make a second cup, start a load of laundry, fold that load of laundry -- and it would *still* be downloading :pound:
 
I have optic fiber from the cable company... it just keeps getting faster! Love it. Had dial up before and it took forever to download a kit.
 
We also have fibre optic here and love, love how fast our internet speed is. We could have even faster if we wanted to pay extra, but don't really need it.
 
We have very fast internet here too. Sometimes things slow down and we have to reboot the router as well.


This particular episode may or may not have been because we are upgrading the server (adding more storage) behind the scenes. I think it's not suppose to be noticeable to anyone but perhaps you caught it just at the right time? I'm not 100% sure when that is happening or if it's already happened, so may not have had anything to do with it at all lol
 
Usually the download is fast. But there are times when the download stops and I need many hours to finish.
 
Mine is fast. Haha, Chris, I DO remember the dial-up days. I'm thinking I actually got my whole house cleaned waiting for the connection to happen. :) We've come a long way baby!
 
Same thing here

We have optic fiber, but sometimes it's slow down and need to reboot.. or wait for the day after.
