Idol Fans??

always chatty at the O!!
With the Euro Vision chatter I thought I would throw in some Idol chat. We don't have cable and so haven't been able to watch most of the season but I was very excited that when we are able to watch it...it is the finale week. Yay!!

So, who loves Jessica and who loves Phillip?

I personally love Phillip. He is very Dave Matthews-esque and it was very apparent but now he is starting to show more of himself. My sister was telling me yesterday that she thinks he's a giant snob because he doesn't participate in any of the Idol promo stuff. Then I found out he has some sick little kidneys and needs a surgery that has a 6 week recovery time so he's been holding it together until the end so Idol pulled him from the promo stuff so that he doesn't get overworked. Poor kid. But even before that I loved him anyway. Jessica has an amazing voice but I think she's a little boring.

What do you guys think??

Was anyone else surprised to see guest artist on night 1 this week? Very odd.

I love Philip too! I'm watching from the UK so not sure I'm in sync with everyone else, I'll have to be careful not to see the result if it's revealed on this thread before we get to see it on Friday!

I also liked Elise, her growl was fabulous. They've all been really good this year.

big Phillip fan here too :)

not going to spoil it for Karen. my hubby stupidly checked his facebook notification on his phone while we were watching it dvr'd (we always wait atleast 30 min so we can skip commercials lol) so he was quite annoyed with the instant spoiler lol

i liked Elise too

Exciting finish - but I won't spoil it for Karen - they put on a Fantastic Show!!

Philip is my favourite - I fell in love with his personality, his honesty and the all-American boyness of him. His singing just grabbed my heart - and his eyes - beautiful.

Jessica - I appreciate her voice but her singing didn't "do" anything for me - perhaps she's too young. She didn't seem to be able to bring life to her performances. I agree Clara, boring

Ooh, I know the outcome now! I wonder if anyone is still trying to avoid spoilers or if we can talk about it! Thanks everyone for avoiding spoilers for me.

Well my favourite won!! WTG Philip.

He was so sweet, overcome with tears and going to his family.

I do hope his health is ok? Does anyone know if he's having surgery?

Philip, to me represents the all-american boy - a perfect idol with talent !

I loved Phillip for all those same reasons, J. From what I read he should be having surgery soon. I sure hope so...kidney stuff is no joke. I could see in the finale he was having a hard time, not participating in many songs, sitting during the last duet and I saw him brace himself when everyone ran to him at the end. Poor guy. But I don't feel too sorry for him...HE WON!! lol!!

I agree, the end was so sweet! I'd been rooting for him all the way through, he's got such a distinctive voice and puts his own spin on everything. I loved how he retained his own look throughout the show, he clearly knows what image he wants to have.

So, i was thinking about how I agreed with pretty much everything in this thread about Jessica being talented but 'meh'. I think the age limit is way too low on this show. I mean, it's really cool to see a 16 year old with an amazing voice, but they just don't have the life experience to be able to really draw me in. I appreciate their voice but I "feel" nothing when they sing.

what do y'all think? is the age limit too low?

I agree and don't agree Vicki. I mean Scotty had age in his voice even though he was only 12. Maybe it's the country music thing. Last year Lauren had something too...but some of these girls (it seems to be mostly girls) have these amazing voices but nothing to sing about and they get so wrapped up in the fact that they can sing so beautifully they overlook the fact that they have nothing to sing about. But some of them do seem to have something to sing about. I think it depends how much they can pull from the teen angst stuff.

Dumpty - you crack me up girl!!
