A new jumping spider :heartpumplove: I have named him "Buddy"...he is so tiny and adorable! He is hanging out above my stove and has just sat there watching me while I was making dinner. I decided to see if he would like some water and put a drop on my index finger and put it right below him and he actually put his two little front legs onto my finger and drank some!!! :cloud9: I have never had a jumping spider do that before...it was so precious! We have placed droplets of water in front of them when they are on a flat surface before and they have enjoyed it, but having him/her actually partially go onto my finger was just the cutest :beatingheart:

I know some of you might think I am crazy and y'all are scared of spiders like I used to be. I used to be TERRIFIED of them, but in this big old house we have had quite a few helpful ones over the last 5 years and I have gotten used to them. The jumping spiders are my favorite, of course...they are smart and CUTE! :heartpumplove:

Here's my "Buddy"...I hope he will stick around for a while... :heartpumpred: Not the greatest photo....I have my contacts in and my vision up close isn't the greatest, especially with my contacts in, and it was difficult to see what kind of pic I was actually getting :wardrobehide: :rotfl:

*Edited to add that I usually name spiders more interesting names like Alfred, Frankfurt, Felix, Bertha...lol This little guy is smaller than the two other jumping spiders that we discovered in the kitchen yesterday, so I gave him more of a baby name...heehee!

Edited again because just now after posting this I went to see if Buddy would drink more water and he did, then I got even more on my finger and he actually hung out on my finger licking it up for about 2 minutes before climbing back onto the cabinet  This is the first time that I have ever willingly had a spider on me :floorlaugh: I called my daughters to come take a pic for me...they love jumping spiders, too :)

Our piano player at church is terrified of spiders! Buddy is a cutie but I don't think I want one on me! I'll leave that pleasure to you! ;)
I used to be terrified...I think after seeing how NONE of them have ever actually tried to get on me to hurt me and their wonderful webs that capture a lot of other things that get into this house that we don't want here, it really woke me up and made me realize that they ARE helpful :beatingheart: Buddy IS cute, but we have had even cuter ones in here...jumping spiders are such curious and friendly little creatures :lovey3:

Oh and roaches still DO terrify me...I can handle the Madagascar hissing cockroaches just fine since we have a colony of them, but the regular roaches of ANY kind, especially ones with wings...NOPE!!!! When I lived in Longview, Texas for 5 years we had them the flying ones there, HUGE guys...so disgusting, and I had a few tramatic experiences. I FREEZE when I see a roach and ask Alexa to call my family in the house to come and help me...:bawling::voodoodoll::voodoodoll::voodoodoll:

:exitroom::exitroom:You are a better woman than I am, but if they are your housemates, I guess it's better to co-exist peacefully than running around shrieking all day, won't get any designing done that way.

Girrrrlllllsss....I know how you feel, but let me assure you that adorable jumping spiders are NOT the spiders biting you or to be afraid of :lovey3: But YES, I totally know where you are on the fear meter...I didn't know what to expect when Buddy actually crawled onto my finger...I was a little nervous, but I have also watched a lot of jumping spider videos on YouTube and I am thinking about purchasing an adorable large jumping spider that is super "furry/fuzzy" and cute!! :giggle4::heartpumplove:

I was sad to not see Buddy this morning, but he he did end up crawling out of hiding from the super tall cabinets above the stove this afternoon...he didn't come down to see me...I was actually sad.. :sad2: I talked to him, wiggled my finger...he never came down to me. It's okay...he is just living his life....but it would be SO cool if I could get him to drink water from my finger again...that seriously was a "WOW" moment for me :heartpumplove::dancingbfly:

For Buddy~~~~>:blowkiss:

My big issue is/was worms. Never liked it when they went wiggling around me in the garden. However, I am teaching a lesson at the ecology center about composting and worms' role in decomposing. I even plan on making a wormery with the kids. Talk about forcing myself to face my fears! LOL!

Awww, we deal with a lot of worms around here...the girls are constantly looking for them to feed to their toads :giggle4: Good luck with your worm project...I hope you end up getting used to them and it goes smoothly :heartpumplove:

Thanks! I have gotten a lot better and also swore to myself that I would hold one of the large millipedes we find under the dead logs. I have touched them but not had one in my hand.

I was listening to this podcast last night and I thought of you:
Spider Sense Part 1: Unraveling the Secrets of Arachnids
