I challenge YOU

How far have you evolved in your scrapping?

Do you ever go back to the first page you scrapped and think, oh my what was I thinking! I know I have, in fact just today I went back to the first pages I posted here at O’scrap and thought WOW I’ve come a long way. My scrapping has changed a lot, I see improvement in design, use of color and even my style of scrapping has changed.

The change and growth have occurred due to several factors:
1. Trends through the years effect what you scrap and how.
2. Always looking for new ways to document what I want to convey.
3. Tutorials
4. Challenges
5. New products

So I ask you, has your style changed or are you in a scrapping rot? I challenge you to try a new tutorial, take a class, use some different products. Anna Aspnes team is always challenging you to try something different, each layout posted in the gallery has processing notes to help you visualize how a certain look was achieved. Anna also provides classes to learn the basics or if you want to go further, she has classes available to expand your creativity. New Classes coming soon!

Just for fun share your first layout in the gallery and your most recent on this thread.

Here is mine:

great to look at old pictures again

and a recent one:

these days I hardly scrap pictures,
but I still enjoy playing with kits, photoshop etc.

This one isn’t the worst layouts of the early days but I sure would have changed a few things. I like the way I framed the face while keeping the photo large

This kit from Vicki Stegall was perfect for me to scrap a concert pic I took

Big picture no blending, what a change in style to your current layout, which has lots of blending and sketchy elements.

What a fun thread! My style has changed a lot over the last 8 years. When I started out I didn't know how to cluster, use brushes, overlays and blend modes which are now my fave things to apply to a page. Here's my first followed by my most recent.

My very first page that I posted here at Oscraps way back in 2008. I think that I had earlier ones but perhaps at a different site?? :noidea:

I am back with my page but I had to have a giggle as I looked at my layouts that I posted here in 2009! :) It doesn't look like I have changed by style much at all! LOL! Blending is what drew me to digi scrapping in the first place and after 10 years it is still something I love to do! I do love doing other styles but I always come back to blending, along with masking and brushwork. :)

Out of the first 9 layouts I uploaded here, 7 utilised a lot of blending! :) LOL! I can remember seeing a picture of a layout in a scrapbooking magazine that had a "digital corner" where people sent in pictures of their layouts. Well I took one look and was hooked! I saw one particular layout that I really loved and researched digital scrapbooking, found tutorials and spent hours practicing!

This is one of the first layouts I did using the blending technique and let me tell ya' it took me dayyyyyyyyys to complete it! LOL!! Back in those days I didn't know about masking so I used to use the deleting tool!!!!! that is why it took me so long as I had to keep starting over if I deleted too much!!! bwhahhaaaa!!

And here is one of my latest ones, which also features blending, but it certainly didn't take me days to do it! And yes, I did learn about masking and absolutely still love blending things together!! :)

It is crazy (in a good/fascinating way) how some of us have done a 180 in our styles, whole others started out with a similar style but just learned lots of new techniques over the years. I know that I was trying to copy paper-scrapping when I first started in 2005-6. It took me a while to get more creative with things Icoudld do digitally.

Haha this was a fun exercise in humility. :)
I found my first one from 2012. I think I'm glad I didn't find the ones, from the early 2005 years on this site. haha

I see quite a change in your scrapping, you have learned to blend, mask and use shadows softly instead of boldly around the edges.

Same with me, wanted to stay with the traditional type of scrapping, then I mastered extraction and went with the fantasy themes, next was blending and artsy and fell in love with that style. Lately I've wanted to explore the clean minimalist type of style, but I suck at it. I keep wanting to add more and more stuff to my layout because it never feels complete.

LOL I know what you mean, some of my layouts I just cringe, still do on more recent ones. Love your evolution, I see a lot of learning different techniques and a change of style.

LOL - I know what you mean, masking has changed everything for me, use it in every layout I do. I love your stuff, and you have mastered the art of masking.

Oh my, not only have you evolved in your scrapping, but look at the change of that young man of yours.

I believe that through the years not only have we grown but designers of the kits we use have as well. I look through these examples and see designers have created more realistic elements for us to use. without them we wouldn't have excelled and grown the way we have. They have taken our imagination and run with it, creating all the goodies we use to create memories, art and magic.

I have been digi-scrapping for over 15 years now. I didn't start posting here at OScraps until 2015 so I had learned a lot before then. This is my first page I posted here

This is a page from this month - Jan 2019. It is in a similar style with layered papers, photo... but I now do more with blending, paper borders and graffiti/overlays.

Love your pages, I had been scrapping for a couple of years before posting here. So my early early pages are not on here.

Me too- I participated in the Scrapaneers challenge last year and I think that was one of the hardest styles for me to do. I *need* to add paint and stuff to my pages. It is an obsession:pound:

Edit: Never mind, I found it using search engine!
