I was at the Sugarland Concert when the rigging fell- I am okay, but it was quite scary. Sitting at the hotel, listening to the news- they did not tell us to leave before it fell over. You can read about it here
 
that must have been so scary Laurie, I'm glad you're o.k. . my thoughts go to the victims and their families
 
Oh Laurie, I saw that on the evening news tonight and was horrified!!! what a terrible thing to have happened!! so glad to hear that you are okay!!! the wind looked terrible as well!!! was that what caused the stage to go down like it did? how very sad for the families involved, my thoughts are with them!
 
Yikes! I am so relieved that you are ok. How sad and scary.
Have you stopped shaking yet? I don't think I would have. :(
 
It is still so surreal in my mind- kind of like after a miscarriage ( have had one) where you wonder if it all really happened. I took photos while they were changing the set before the storm and have some of one of the people up in the staging area (there is actually a car seat type chair up there for him to sit during the performance)- but I am not sure if it is the person who died. I don't want to post them but would like to find out if this is the one who died, if the family would like these shots of their loved one- how would you go about this?
 
Oh, I'm so glad you are ok. Saw it on the news - it was on the news here in Sweden as well. Terrible thing!
 
Laurie - Maybe you could contact the Sugarland official site or something? Or the Illinois State Fair staff?
 
Oh my goodness. We were talking about that today. I had no idea you were there. I understand that feeling of disbelief. It makes everything surreal.

That is very thoughtful about those photos. I'm sure you'll be able to find out who was killed soon enough. It will be in the news I'm sure and you could try contacting the family through the news if it is relevant. Or you could send the photos to the venue management.

Laurie....I am so glad you were not hurt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we saw this on the news!!!! It's horrible!!!!! What a freak thing, that wind!!!!! SO SAD for those who died, just trying to have a good time that night!!!!!
