How to survive a trip to IKEA

Okay Eva, now you have to learn us to curse in Swedish for our next visit!!
so fun!

That Dombås name was confusing me, cuz even if the names sounds weird for non-Swedish peeps, it makes sense in Sweden. Often it's name of towns or people or something. But I had no idea what Dombås was ... but I googled it ... it's a town in Norway :)

And Fartfull, that is mentioned in the article, means something that is full of speed - like a child playing - full of life ... something like that.

Eva, I think the Dombås will make more since to why we think it's a funny name if you realize we are seeing it like klantarsle (which if the article you link is to be believed means something similar to dumb arse)

Wow Vicki - you're a fast learner! You've just learned your first Swedish word. And what a word to start with LOL

IKEA is fantastic. I loooove it. When we moved here, one of the things I miss most about not living in Uppsala anymore, is that I just can't jump on the bus and get to IKEA. Now the closest IKEA is 2½ hr drive away. But they are building a new IKEA closer, and in a year or so, I will have an IKEA only 1 hr drive from here.

Right now I want to go to IKEA and get us 3 POÄNG chairs, and get rid of our ugly wornout sofa!

Isn't it fantastic?

CRAVING!

fun story and soo true, I managed to drag oh to one once as we had lots of spare time before going to the airport and we were looking for a sofa.
Finding one we liked the first thing he did was look at how it was put together , what sort of wood and that was it .. condemned.
I think they've got great stuff for beginners and their bedding is nice and pure cotton . our nearest is 3 1/2 hours away :ohwell:

I just went to Ikea last week with my bestie- not on a weekend thank you- she says weekends are like a swedish walmart! I preplanned and purchased dressers for my bedroom- even made sure the boxes would fit in my car and put them together by myself without cursing!

yes I bought the vase and flowers too!

we have an IKEA in my hometown!! i have no idea WHY they picked Pittsburgh, but i'm glad they did!!

Actually, I think all the talk about how hard it is to assemble the stuff is exaggerated. If you follow the instruction, it's usually easy. I think men don't read the instructions, and then blame IKEA for it ;)

I would agree- I was the only one home, it said you needed two people, and I did it all by myself- yes I am proud and I feel a layout coming on!

CRAVING!

that chair is way awesome!

And, I didn't actually learn the word lol. I just read the article and chose the word from there that seemed the closest based on the translation it gave - I sure hope it's the right word and not something really, really, REALLY rude lol

It's about the same ... "klant" is someone who is clumpsy rather than stupid - but it's basically the same word.

omg!! Hysterical!
I just happened to see this on my other Swedish friend's FB page and I immediately thought of you.
