I'm having surgery in a week - don't worry, I'm ok - but made me think ... how many surgeries have other people had?

No need to share details (unless you want to, just you don't have to!) - but my count is 5, going on 6. 2 c-sections, an ovary removal, gastric bypass, and MOHS (skin cancer surgery).

I had 4- tubal ligation in 2000, then a lumpectomy (2014), hysterectomy (2015), and ankle surgery (2019). It stinks getting old. LOL
But you haven't truly lived until you visit your elderly parents who both had surgeries within 3.5 weeks of each other and they have a "competition" o_O about whose BP/O2/pulse rate was worse. Good times! /s

For overnight surgeries I've had a tonsillectomy, two deliveries and a tubal ligation. For day surgery I've had a biopsy and D&C.

Good luck on your surgery! I've had 4 in one fun year back in 2018 lol..I had an ovary removed due to a big cyst, but that didn't fix my menstrual issues so I decided to just get the whole shebang removed with a hysterectomy, then I had a mass in my breast removed and to finish out the year I had oral surgery. Getting put to sleep is the weirdest thing. I used to be very scared about the idea but now it doesn't scare me as much.

I had my tonsils removed when I was a kid and a hysterectomy in the late 80's. I've had 3 broken bones, but thankfully, none of them required surgery.

I forgot the cyst that they removed from my breast in about 2003 and I guess the laser surgery on my eyes should count although they didn't put me to sleep...that was 1999.

good luck on your surgery

not counting having a bad tooth removed

3 (4)
appendix as a child
2 surgeries at one time for arthritis - wrist and tendon transfer on finger - same hand followed by months of rehab for the tendon transfer
wrist fusion ( same one as above) -rehab followed too but not as much , fusion means not being able to bend , its like wearing an invisible cast

tonsils out at age of 21, then 3 surgeries in 6 months - double mastectomy, implant swap and nipple reconstruction. That nipple reconstruction was a bad idea. One surgery too many for my poor body in a short amount of time and it was pretty much a fail and it prevents me from being able to go bra-less in every shirt lol

Good luck with your surgery!

Tonsils and appendectomy; 1 foot and 1 knee surgery; hysterectomy; 2 dental surgeries; rotator cuff repair; 2 cataracts; and then the big ones: 5 back surgeries (2 in one day when the screws & rods didn't line up correctly). The last back surgery was a success - 15 years ago. Total: 15

The Competition comment made me smile lol

Hyster-Sisters in 2015! LOL! Best surgery I ever had! :D
I want this (I have issues), but they won't let me - not enough issues apparently.

It's crazy how often the ovary surgery is, once I mention it everyone knows someone who only has one ovary.

Shoot, that puts me at 7 - Laser Eye surgery here too!
