How do you feel about artificial plants?

I personally love them. Well, not all of them, only those that are realistically looking. And only those that make sense, not a bunch of tulips in November or liliacs for Christmas. To illustrate, here's a photo of plants in my bathroom. Some are real, some are not.

Do you have plants in your house? Do you have artificial plants in your house? Why/why not?

We have plants in out house, but not too much. We have a big garden, so there are a lot of plants :).
And we don't like to have artificial plants in our house.

I like that you have the artificial ones mixed in with the real ones Olga, your bathroom looks fantastic. I don't have any artificial ones at the moment, but like you, I want them to look a bit realistic.......... there are some that are just so fake and horrible looking! lol!!! :)

As I have a cat, is the question about plants in rooms very simple. No. I don't like artificial plants, because most of them don't look like real and depending on the material, they have a very special smell too. But we have a balcony - or feel-good oases - and there are our plants.

I personally don't have any artificial plants, but my DD has a couple of small fake succulents in her room. They are cute, and decorative because they are in adorable little pots.

I have a funny fake plants story, however. Years (and years!) ago, when I was just engaged to my DH, my future ILs went on a cruise. I was staying at their house with Gary and they asked if I would take care of the plants while I was there. I would go around watering everything on whatever schedule they had written down. They come home and a few days later, I am over for dinner. They thanked me for taking good care of the plants, especially the ficus tree, OK, hmmm-- What did I do special for the ficus?

Well, considering that the ficus was fake, I did a bang-up job of watering it and not letting it "die" Bwuahahahah!!

I've had real and fake plants mixed together but stopped having any at all many years ago. I had cats and dogs that would not leave them alone so learned to not have any.

Many many years ago my BFF sold fake plants via home shows. They were good quality and I had quite a few of them. Over the years they disappeared for one reason or another and now the only one I have is on top of the cabinets in my kitchen, which has no windows. When my kids were younger and I had cats that would chew on live plants, they were definitely useful.

I was just thinking about this yesterday! I love having plants around (even though my track record of keeping them alive is not great!) and have thought about mixing some big artificial ones amongst the real ones even though it feels like 'cheating' ;-). Then I realised that if I manage to get back to working on the road again and DD has left home, there'll be no-one to look after the real ones so maybe I'll just go for all fake. But it still feels ... weird.

I have my ferns hanging on my front porch - I love ferns but they're messy to bring indoors. At one time, I had over 40 real plants inside, but now I can grow them outside - finally. I have an artificial decorative planter that's filled with succulents and you cannot tell that it's not real. I have an artificial white orchid that looks very real, too. I just put together a glass vase filled with dried grasses of several varieties - I put it in the middle of the kitchen table. I really like dried flowers, if they don't shed. I bought some on Amazon and when I got them, every time I touched them, stuff fell off. I sent them right back.

I LOVE artificial plants. I have them all over the house and during the lockdown I did an online flower arranging class, so now I have beautiful arrangements all over too.
Fun story, the latest artificial plant was a faux grass.. I had to relocate it as Clint Catwood thought it was real...

You should give it a try - start small with succulents and see how you feel. Hubby told me NOPE to faux plants and now as I am slowly introducing them, he keeps expressing surprise at how realistic they are x
