hey hey ladies!
New week here- I guess I am so used to life kind of starting on Monday and ending on Sunday that I figured Flylady was the same. So technically, her week started yesterday.

Should we start our new threads on Sunday or Monday or do you not care one way or the other?

Here are Monday's Email Reminders

Here is Sneak Peek for the Week

Our Zone is the Kitchen (*groans...but in a good way LOL)

Our Mission for Monday is to look up/get cobwebs/dust off the celeing
http://flylady.net/pages/FlightPlan_Missions.asp

Go have fun!

Kitchen not a bad area for me...as I spend a lot of time cleaning in there...I am a bit OCD about my kitchen...although...I must admit...all that cleaning the fridge, the stove and cabinets, I do forget about the ceiling!! I will do that for sure today!!! I know my ceiling fan in there could use a cleaining!!

Oh no...Sunday can't be a fly day!!! I usually lay around and watch movies and such on Sundays!!! I usually do NO cleaning on Sundays!! Pay for it on Monday though!!

i am gonna do it this week i TELL YA. So have any of you done the 30 days baby steps. i am thinking of ignoring the missions and just doing the 30 days. i have been a flybaby for about 3 years now.

Okay, I dropped the ball last week, but I'm right here for the kitchen. I'm about to go in there right now and check it out.

OK, the kitchen I can manage. This week should be relatively straight forward for me. We only moved back in a year ago after massive renovations, so nothing has had time to get cobwebs (I checked the whole house last week - only found one tiny one), and the kitchen units are brand new, so I'm still in the "wipe down regularly/take your filthy hands off my cabinets" mode. Mind you, the top of my fridge is pretty yucky I'm sure and I just know there's dirt on top of the stereo speakers. Monday, however, has been and almost gone, so I will have to start tomorrow instead.

I notice she completely fails to mention the cooker - usually an area that is so hideous to clean that most of us avoid at all costs - hence I spent extra money buying a self cleaning oven last year, and OMG was it worth it! Turn it on, pay for 2 hrs electricity, and hey presto - I get a pristine oven.

Okay, kitchen it is this week!
I like starting on mondays!

I did bad last week, but a new week, a fresh start or at least a fresh finish I hope!

Good morning!
Oh it is sooo nice to have everything tidied before I head off to bed. It really makes such a great difference in the mornings for me.
I have also been noticing that my kids are making more of an effort to put the dishes in the dishwasher instead of leaving them all over the house. yay!!

I see that everyone would rather start the week on Monday- sounds good to me!
And same rule as Daily ooo's -- anyone can start the thread. I have been doing since I am online early. So if you get here on Monday and a thread hasn't been started, go ahead and open one up:)

What is it about the cobwebs this time of year? I had some many of them and I know I go through the house once a week with my lambswool duster (got it at IKEA for like $4 many years ago- love that thing) I even climbed onto my counters and got the ones behind the clock, behind the soffits. And then I saw the top of the ceiling fan blades- yuck! Got them dusted too.

Then I *finally* took out the Shark streamer I have and steamed the floors. Its a little hand help one I got years ago, but it really lifts up lots of dirt that the mop doesn't get. My linoleum is old, very old and pitted so the dirt just settles in.
I won't say my floor is sparkling but is waaaay lay dinge than before

Today- Tuesday's Email Reminders

Great Mission--Wipe down all of your cabinets! The ones under my sink always are the grimiest b/c the garbage and recycling are underneath. I'll start with them and work around.

You are all rOcking!!!

You Rock Chris!! I so didn't do anything yesterday!!!! This would be why I have done so many of the challenges...hehehehehe!!! BUT.......today is another story...I will get my cobwebs and ceiling fan...because I wipe down my cabinets once a week anyway....just a habit I got into when we remodeled the kitchen 4 years ago!!! When you have to give your right arm and leg for this...you tend to take care of it!!!!

My other little things are done...bed made...swished and swiped the bathroom!! YAY!!

I sure jumped off this bus last week. Hope to hop back on this week.

I really need to get in my kitchen. My cupboards aren't bad but it doesn't take long to get that way. I forget about them since they aren't a horizontal surface. My fan is also an eyesore I will be sure and do it.

well i decided to focus on the baby steps only. I am gonna get this done. I got the sink soaking right now.

I am so not FLYing this morning. I'll hopefully be all caught up from our trip by tonight. Lots of laundry catch-up...a dh who isn't being so d...and a dishwasher that isn't rinsing completely. Tonight should have everything together. I'm not far off, just enough to make me a little crazy. I need to be on track by the time i go to bed tonight though otherwise I'll fall completely off the bandwagon into house CHAOS forever!!! That just can't happen or my head will start spinning like Linda Blair.

hey hey hey! Hos y'all doing? Baby stepping?Hope so!

Last night while I was on the phone w/ mu mom, I took the time to wipe down all of my cabinets. Multi-tasking sometimes works great!

I just finished today's mission (clean out fridge). I found some salad dressing that expired in 2007!!!
What did you find that was oldest/ickiest?

Today is clean out your frig day? So perfect. Is there a clean out your freezer day?? I need that too. Maybe I'll do both.

Brrr, I hate cleaning out my freezer- but go for it!

I worked my butt off yesterday- I had to stem clean the carpets downstairs. Why is it that no matter how much you scrub, old dog pee stains keep coming back?
Caitlyn's b-day is next week and I am not going to have a lot of time to to a "full" house clean, so I am trying to do one or two extra things a day.

I have noticed that I am not reading the emails and I am slipping a bit, but I know I can get back on track soon. The worst of it is the whole "whats for dinner" I do sooo much better when I know at least the day before of what I am going to make, but I am having that "cooking block" again.

Here are Thursday's Email Reminders

Uh oh... today's mission is one I dread- cleaning the counter tops. As in under all of the appliances. My kitchen is "off balance" (like everything else in the house, human, animal, floors LOL) so when things spill, it all rolls under the microwave. Ick.

I didn't really "clean" my frig or freezer but I did go through them and pull out everything that was bad and did some reorganizing so that I could see what food I actually have. I have lots. Yay!!

So, I mentioned in the Dailys that I was in a bad mood and this is actually why. i have been busting my butt trying to get the house together by changing my habits and coming up with some new routines so that I don't get overloaded by the daily stuff and can work to take care of the not so daily stuff. DH totally agreed but after this weekend camping things got off track.

DH unloaded the camper and got everything out while I stayed in the house unpacking, sorting and cleaning. When I thought he was done with unloading he sat on the couch while i continued what I was doing. Lots of laundry, dishes, etc. The next morning I came downstairs and the house was trashed. He hadn't finished with the unloading and the rest of the camper seemed to vomit into my house. So, more work for me while dh went off fishing. Laundry catch up sucks. Then yesterday dh left for a 3 day fishing trip and was in ahurry and again left me with a trashed house because he was in a hurry. So, not only am I trying to take care of the kids on my own for 3 days I also have to try and stay on track and get back ahead of the game. Grrrrr!!! His answer is "Oh, sorry." Like that helps.

So, if anybody has some suggestions on how to keep my head from spinning while I keep up my end of our agreement and get us caught back up on my own feel free to send some ideas or encouragement my way. I'd appreciate it.

I know your situation is different than mine but dh and I have decided that we need to get our carpets professionally cleaned. Since it isn't cheap we have started putting money aside each payday to get that done when we have enough. Maybe that is something you can think about having done WHEN Gary's disability comes through. Then even though it is annoying now you would know that there will be an end to it. Just a thought for you.

Oh I wish I could have that done. We had pro's come in when the kids were babies (6 cats, a dog and 2 kids!) and it was so nice to not have to deal with it all.

I ams till here, fluttering a bit more than flying. The sad/hard thing with cleaning for other people is I am too pooped out some days to take care of my own LOL

I didn't get to clean my counters yesterday, but I am going to at least do under my microwave today. I promise you all that. Hold me to it!

Friday's Email Reminders

Kitchen Floors are todays mission- whew, I did a super job on monday so today I am going to a quick one.

http://flylady.net/pages/FlightPlan_Missions.asp

Remember House work done incorrectly still blesses your family!

Oh...sorry I haven't checked in here in few days....I am a slacker!!! Actually not about the cleaning though...especially with this weeks missions...this was an EASY EASY week for me....I clean my fridge every week, at least every other week, and am OCD about the kitchen anyway...the worst was the ceiling...and fan...got those cleaned up this week...and I mopped floors yesterday...I do that every Fri/Sat...anyway...little ones running around here all the time leaves LOTS of sticky!!! I stay barefoot in the house, so mopping the kitchen is sort of like eating for me....a necessity!! LOL!!! I think you ladies are doing a fabulous job "flying"!!!!! Keep this up!! WE WILL BE THE "CLEANEST" FORUM IN DIGI-LAND!!!!!:p:p:p

I have been stalking these threads for a little while- can I join in? I could use a little motivation! This week (almost finished, I know!) I worked on the kitchen, without even knowing that it was this week's zone- weird! I've cleaned out the fridge, the microwave, and tried hard to get into a habit of dishes before bed. It's going OK, but I'm not going to be too hard on myself! I figure any improvement is good, right?:p

I agree Sarah. I don't follow every week like I am supposed to. My biggest thing is breaking old hapits and recreating new, like a load of laundry a day, dishes in the dishwasher in the morning, stack and wash at night before bed, go to bed early (this is a hard one for me), putting things away instead of just setting them down. It is soooo hard but one step at a time. I have been focusing on habits for now. I'll get to all the missions eventually but for now the daily habits are key. It is kind alike dieting, everyone has to do what works for them. So, join away and let us know how you are doing.

Hi Sarah! Welcome to the O-Flyers!!!!! Glad you are going to join us!

Clara you are doing great! I am focusing ont he Missions mostly, since I kind of have some/most of the habits down. But the beauty of her system is that you can focus where you need it most. She kind of points me in the direction and then I go do what I gotta do :)

Here are Sunday's Email Reminders

We'll start the new week and Zone tomorrow!

Have a great day!

i slacked a bit with my baby steps. :p
can i ask a question.
u know how the flylady says shine ur sink by soaking it in bleach for an hour then scrubbing with ajax.
well i do that to my sink and tubs weekly.
mister potts thinks it is dumb to soak in bleach first.
he thinks i should scrub it then soak it.
i told him the bleach first starts killing germs and loosening grime but he does not agree and its annoying me.
any opinions on this matter?

Is he going to clean the sink? If not tell him that you'll do it the way you want. Bleach does both of the things you said and will make scrubbing easier. If doing the bleach thing works then why fix something that isn't broken. If he sometimes cleans the sink let him do it the way he thinks it should be done.Oh, I also think scrubbing then soaking could be dangerous because it is more likely to mix chemicals and make you sick.

thats what I think Clara. Thanks for pointing out the mixing chemicals part. I will mention that. The problem can be that he helps alot around here. We are almost 50/50 with house and childcare. Sometimes he more than me depending on our school schedules. But I am open minded he can clean how he would like. He does not like soaking at all and prefers to spend like 30 minutes scrubbing the tub. I am not to into that KWIM?:) I do however find it annoying when he tells me I am not doing something right.

Lori...it''s great that he helps out so much....and I would let him do it his way if he's okay with it!!

My tip for the day....rather than soaking in bleach....take an old spray bottle mix half water, half bleach....every couple of days, spray the sink with this mixture...your sink will look good all the time...and NEVER have to scrub it!!! That's what I do...the smaller amount of bleach at a time isn't as bad to breathe, plus it keeps germs down more, and since the bleach is on there so often, it keeps the dirt loosened all the time!! I have done this for years.

thanks for the welcome girlies, and Clara I'm glad to hear that someone else is like me! looking forward to this week's zone- now I'm off to do today's laundry. Might try to work on factoring in daily excercise too...oooh, I've said it, now I have to do it!
