How is everyone doing???

This week is an important one for me to get the house cleaned and kept clean. Caitlyn's birthday parties are this weekend. She is having friends over on Sat, and family on Sunday. Between work and a couple of dr's appts I am going to need this schedule/To-do lists and I have to stick to it. :)

The Current FLY Zone: is Bathroom and one other room, so that is perfect for me!

Here is Kelly's Sneak Peek for the Week!

Today's missions- two quick ones:

Here's to a great week of FLYing!

Ok...so I read this weeks preview.....and I have to say....Fly Lady must be related to my Mom!!! so many of the things are exactly what my Mom taught me to do!! I clean my trashcan just like that....I do it about once every three months...YUCKY!! but I do put walmart bags inside my trashcan...so they don't get so dirty so quickly....

I am so off the play...due my MAJOR decluttering play of my own.....but as soon as I get this finished.....I am going with the play listed out....I have been trying to do a few of the things listed each week....and it has helped keep things a little cleaner!!!....

WOOT!! Chris....you are such a FLYER!!! working around the appts and kids!!! YAY!!!

Well, I didn't do too good last week but I didn't do too bad. I did get my cupboards and appliances wiped down and shiny. I also decluttered my counters and cleaned them. I also kept my sink clean. I got my floors swept but not mopped. Mopping is really hard on my back. I need to remember to ask hubby to do that. He will, but I have to ask or he doesn't see it needs it.

My bathroom isn't too bad, but it will be if I don't keep up on it. So this is a good week for me. I tend to wait until it's bad and then it's 3 times the work.

I've been keeping the toilet and the surrounding area pretty clean and wiping fairly regularly. Ginger likes to sleep behind the toilet since it's cool there and I don't like to think of her as icky, ya know?

Laundry is going.

We started a weekly family house blessing yesterday and it was wonderful. I typed up a list of all that I wanted done and everyone pitched in. It was really great when we were done and really didn't take long with 4 people doing it. We will definitely do it again next weekend.

Okay, I think I am going to start adding in the missions. I have been having a heck of a time catching up after our trip last weekend. The laundry has not yet gotten caught up but it is getting closer. the biggest thing is that I am folding and putting away as we go istead of all at once like I usually do. I have a half hour between when I take Ethan to the bus stop and when I have to leave for work so I try and do a lot then. The missions will be good for me. I am ready!! Go Clara go!!

Oooh I think I'm definitely going to be doing this. Our place is still such a mess after the renovations, but I really don't want to let it get away on me.

Spent all day yesterday clearing out the shed, throwing away stuff you just keep in case you might need it some day! Well yesterday was some day, I needed it to fill my garbage bags!
We now have room to store our bicycles in the shed, where they belong!

So the rest of the week is for the bathroom!

You have me sooooo inspired!!!

Clara- If you are going to add int he Missions, that is awesome, but don't feel like a failure if you don't get it done. 15 minutes!!

Merkee- cute re: Ginger.
B/c Gary throws up so much, I always have the whole toilet cleaned for him every day. Now if only I could say that my kids bathroom looks as good...;)

Diane!!!! That attitude ROCKS!!!!!!! Today is Garbage day here, and I am going to make a quick sweep of our "Art Closet (more about that in a few) and get rid of the crap in there- for those just in case times LOL!

Welcome Kathryn!!

Linda W- your mom must be as awesome as you! Can she adopt me? I'd make a good great grandkid

yesterday's Missions went well. Like I said inthe other post, my main bathroom/toilet has to be kept clean. The thing I did in my bathroom was to climb up on the counters and really dust the light fixture and the top of the medicine cabinet. I could describe how thick the dust was caked on, but...ick! The lights looked so much brighter this morning.

My "other room" I worked in was out Art Closet. We have a really nice sized closet upstairs that has bookshelves for all of the art supplies, board games and Cait's sewing stuff. Cait has pretty much trashed it. She gets overwhelmed when I tell her she needs to clean it, so I went in there for 10 minutes and just gathered up all of the garbage/fabric scraps. Now there is a small area to walk into so she can get her sewing machine table set up again.

Now for a rambling of mine- I think one of the things I like best about doing FLYlady is her idea of not procrastinating. I find that when I work in FLY Mode, I will clean up something immediately rather than wait til later. And my the time "later" comes. its 10 times worse.
It is so much easier to keep the "fires" under control.

What do you think?

AWE...Chris...and you know what....my MOM would so adopt you too!!! She is the best MOM EVER!! I should be a better daughter...but she never complains...she knows I am so wrapped up in my kids and grandkids...THANKS!!! I take this as the HIGHEST form of compliment!!;)

LOL!!!! I am in the same mode Diane...I NEED to throw the junk away!! WOOT!!!!!!!! Glad to see I have some company in my mission!!

Hi Kathryn....glad you are going to "FLY" with us!!

Merkee...I love your weekend blessing!!!! I always tried to tell my kids, if we all do some stuff, it will get done faster.......they didn't listen to well!! LOL!! but it's just me and DH now...so It's ALL ME!!! since I am at home, he doesn't do anything in the house anymore....which is okay with me...but I don't do anything outside...that's all him!!

Clara...wow!! you are really doing great with this program...and adding missions!! WOOT!!! when I come out West to see you, you will have the most organized and cleanest house...I really do want to come out there one day!!!

Chris...you are so right about not procrastinating and the job not being as bad!! I learned that the HARD way years ago!!! YAY!! for FLY MODE!!!!!

Okay...my garbage can is soaking...and I am off for some more decluttering!!!

Okay...so I forgot about my soaking trashcan.....DH found it in the shower this moring...LOL!!!!!!!!!

Oh...man...I am really bad about today's mission!!! I go years without cleaning out that medicince cabinet!!! When I finally do...I find stuff 4 and 5 years old!!!! I may skip this mission since I am still downstairs....I may have to do this the next time we are in this zone!! Good luck everyone!!!

Linda! I have done that before and Gary looks at me like I have 2 heads.

I didn't have to to the medicine cabinets- I had done that last week. I swore I had another bottle of one of the kids herbs... and I tore apart the cabinets looking for it. I didn't find it, but I threw out a bunch of other stuff.

Thursday's Email Reminders

Okay, I am almost caught back up. When I got back from the camping trip I decided to get stuff done but not stress myself out. So, I have just been moving consistantly. A load or two of laundry a day, dishes every day, etc. It has worked awesome and so much better than when I try and do everything all at one. Right now the hard thing is derek's fishing. there is so much fish and extra dishes and stuff. DH isn't making too much of a mess just not keeping my sink clean. But he's not trashing the place either, so I'll take it. He's done a little bit of stacking but has put his clothes away whenever they are on the bed and has helped me when I have asked him. It is going well and we are working together. Granted it is my project so I'm doing most of the work, but like I just said, it is my project and my anxiety so I can deal. So, all in all it is going great. I'm not doing well with the missions but if I can keep the daily stuff together I am okay with that. One of these days I do have to start tackling my desk. That is a major thing to do. One day at a time though. I think being cluttered and messy is almost like an addiction in the fact that it becomes such a habit that it is hard to make the necessary changes. But I'm doing pretty good. Yay!!

No stress Clara!! That is the whole key- once you start doing the little things as you see them (like with Merkee's Walk Arounds) you seem to get into the routine.

Last night, after dinner I was going to get a head start on some of the light cleaning and tidying that I have planned for today. I could tell that I was FLYing b/c there was almost nothing downstairs that needed to get put away! It was such a nice feeling that everything was pretty much done. Today I have to do the "heavy duty" stuff - mopping, vacuuming, scrub the tubs- but 95% of the clutter is out of here~

It uis hard when the other people in your house seem to be working against you, and it stresses me out too. Then I have to wrestle with "Do I just clean it up for them or do I let it sit and make them do it?" That is so stressful for me LOL

I've just read through this week's reminders and realised I won't fly this week- my gorgeous Nanna passed away on Wednesday, so we haven't been at home much- only to make mess it seems!! And baby Owen has been held for three days straight so I have been trying to get him back into the routine of sleeping in bed again. Oh well, some weeks are crap! I will get back into the routines though, and the ones that I had worked on were really helpful over the days of chaos. I even managed to cook dinner, so that's something!

Totally agree about this

and with two boys I'm determined not to raise useless, messy blokes. But I think it's a losing battle!!
