hOme Organizing Support: Oct 5-11

Chris, no guilt or sad faces allowed. You do what you can and don't worry about it. If you don't do anything, you keep trying. Now go shine your sink and do todays mission or put it on your todo list for today. I need to do mine and will post when I do. You do the same. It is cold this morning so I won't do my trashcan until this afternoon.

I wasn't that good last week either. My biggest issue is that I get sidetracked. There are always people here and I don't have the freedom to just focus on what I want to do.

I was happy just to keep the house decent and get the laundry done last week. So I am back in Flymode this week. Just blessed my house!! Woo-hoo!!
I am with ya Chris!

I am getting very frustrated personally. I have been trying hard and when I started this dh said he was on board adn was going to help and guess what...not so much. He is being a butt. But I am doing my part. I have not committed to the daily missions but I have gotten on board with daily loads of laundry and trying to shine my sink and it makes me feel good. So even though my husband continues to walk over clutter and still stacks crap all over the house I am doing what i can to do my part and I feel good about that, so although I have giant complaints about dh being a poop I have no complaints about doing this at all. I am very grateful for bring any part of this into my life no matter how big or small that part is.

Chris, you do what you do. If you have a good day, jump up and down and be quite proud of yourself, if you have a bad day or ten pick yourself up the next morning and try again until you get it. But if your goal this week is to stay on top of it I will be behind you on that 100% as long as you promise not to beat yourself up if you don't meet the standard you set.

clara i have been a flybaby drop out for like 3 years!! but i have incorporated many of the techniques in my life so even if u cant do the full program many of the tips are very helpful. i still want to be an official flylady though.:p
for the record my husband cant stand flylady and i am done trying to get him to do the stuff. he helps alot and has his own methods so it works. this morning he spent the whole blessing hour cleaning windows and organizing a bit of closet clutter.

Lori - If your husband helps who cares how he does it. I'm glad you get that. That is awesome that he helps. As long as it gets done you do it your way and he does it his, right? Help is help, right?? I don't think I have what it takes to be an official FLY lady. I have high hopes but realistically I am far too lazy to do any such thing. What I do get accomplished is huge for me. Isn't it crazy how different everyone is and what their level of commitment is. That is so awesome that you can be so dedicated and I envy your motivation. You rock girl!!

girls I have had a crappy couple of weeks, but have tried really hard to keep my basic routines (dishes and laundry daily) in check. Help from hubby is contentious here too. Why is it that as soon as I drop the ball and need someone to pick it up, that seems to be the signal for him to just lay back and do nothing? I had a bad couple of days when my nanna died, it was all I could do to feed and change the baby, and instead of cooking me dinner or something, it's like his brain goes "oh cool, lazy week" and does nothing. Oooooh that just turned into a rant. sorry.

anywhoooooooooo. I agree, we should be happy with what we can achieve, and not beat ourselves up when we don't meet our own high expectations. I liked that about reading the flylady website- how she talks about setting the timer for ten minutes to do small tasks. I'm finding that if I do that, I get big jobs finished by the end of the day, but doing ALL the housework from start to finish like I used to just doesn't 'fly' now I have the little ones.

So I'm gonna do my own version of flying-
1. stick to daily routines of laundry, dishes, swish & swipe the bathroom
2. check the weekly zone and do something in that zone every day. even something little will make a difference right?!

I think this will work for me. The tips are good and I can file them for when they will be needed, but I'm not gonna pressure myself.

So today, I've done the laundry. And done a good scrub of half of the kitchen doors, benches and tiles. So I'm happy!:p Hope everyone has a happy day:D:D:D

Oh...this is such a hard time of year....the stress levels rise...thinking of Christmas...mainly the money...but all the things we need to do, and those of you with school age kids...things are in full swing...cleaning and household routines can be hard....

I think the 15 minute timer is a really good idea...when I have a super busy day, and seem to have let things go...or just put things off for too long...I tend to go into overdrive when I give myself a time limit to get as much done as possible....

Like Merkee said...NO STRESSING OR SAD FACES allowed!!!!!

LEAN AWAY girls when you need some support....then add a C in front of that!!!!:p

I really really need to get some motivation too... My house is a MESS!!! It get's really bad when I'm designing and trying to meet a deadline so family comes first then designing and cleaning has been really far down on the list LOL! I love this Fly Lady and I would like to try to incorporate some of the tips in my life... need all the help I can get. I'm trying to focus on one room per day and that seems to help... Tomorrow is the Kitchen :) Good luck everyone!

really tired this morning.... I'll try to get the links up in a bit.
Yay for happy faces :)

I cleaned out my kitchen cabinet and threw out some old rice packages. From last year.

happy FLY-ing!

Chris, you get a break for a nap today girlie~

I did clean out my garbage can but that is all I did in my kitchen yesterday other than cook and basic dishes.

I hope to do todays missions. Be back later..

Yay Chris! I reckon I can totally beat your 1-year-old rice packet. I intend to clean out one shelf of the pantry today, motivated by the recent purchase of a bunch of containers to store food in. I'll be back to let you know the grossest thing I find!! ;)
