So I read what the Flylady said about pillows - just 15 mins on low heat right? How many did you do at once, Chris? Two?

I've had a great day getting so many small jobs done on my list, including weird stuff like polishing the kids school shoes and packing their sports bags in preparation for the new school year starting next week (thank goodness! LOL). And OMG, I've sorted, washed, dried and put away 3 monster loads of washing from our holiday. Haven't shined my sink yet, but my beds look good enough to sleep on!~

Now, off to cook supper and wash kids disgustingly dirty hair.

Okay, dishes done, sink is shiny, dog is walked. Pillows were fluffed. I ended up doing one at a time. I've never done my pillows before. It made my pillows bigger for sure. lol

One load of laundry is left and then that's done.

On the shoe thing, I find for me, if I don't have my laced up shoes, I slip my shoes off and get into slouch mode. I am much more likely to do things if I have my tennies on. For me house slippers are just too comfy and don't put me in a working mindset. I think it's a personal choice on this one.

Kids hair was unbelievable - bath was grey afterwards! (Maybe I should do a LO about it using Sue's latest 52 Weeks.) Do you think I get any Flylady credits for facing up to this HUGE baby step?! hehehe

I'd give ya FLY credits Selena :)

Good job everyone!
My pillows are fluffed up too. Decided not to do the kids. They can do their own doggone pillows ;)

I have a large capacity dryer, so I can do 2-3 pillows at a time, but I would put them in so that they aren't squished. I also don't like the scent on dryer sheets so i leave that part out too.
But if I thought about it, I could have put a drop of lavender essential oil on a clean dishcloth and thrown that in there too- that would have smelled yummy and relaxing!

Flying along here...I fluffed my pillows...although I have those heavy memory foam pillows...so they didn't fluff too much...and I don't like dryer sheets either Chris...so I spritzed mine with the night time B&BW lavender spray that they make for spraying your pillow before you go to bed....using it on them and then putting them in the dryer....oooooo...they smell so good!!! I made my bed...a little late in the day...but it's made...cleaned the bathroom...folded some clothes and put them away and made a cake...YUMMY!!

OMGosh...I love the idea of drying your pillows with Lavender-oiled washcloths!! hmmmmm...may have to do that!! :)

Keep it going, girlies!! you guys are soooo my heroes!! :)

Well, I haven't been flying too well here. More like limping along! It's been a busy week what with Atha and I both starting school. We'll find our rhythm in time. HOWEVER, I will say that I have been keeping on top of making beds, keeping the laundry moving along, poop-scooping the litter box 2x a day, swish and swiping the bathrooms every night, and keeping that sink CLEAN every night! We may have some toy and paper clutter, but that's about it.
RE: pillows. I buy them often. I know this might sound crazy, but since we can't afford really good pillows, I just buy like $8 pillows like 3x a year. That way they don't get nasty and flat. I wish I had a steam washer/dryer and good pillows. Someday, someday!

Well...I have been cleaning. =) I did quite a bit Wednesday night. But I've made it a goal to do something every night...even if it was just the 15 min. Folding laundry, taking out the trash, dumping food out of the fridge...that kind of thing. Tonight though...I might just veg out. =)

My bedroom is almost done, cleaned out everything from under my bed! Now I have three boxes of garbage! and 2 bags of old clothes, that's more garbage!

I have seen such a huge difference in my bedroom this week- In some ways it was an easy one- since it not as cluttered as say, my kitchen is. But it really makes a difference to be able to walk in there and see my bed made.

Diane, that is awesome!!!!!!!
In fact, you just inspired me- I am going to spend 15 minutes today cleaning out my closet! I'll post back when I am done.

Quick ? for you all.......

How do you deal w/ your family members who don't "follow along?"
I keep asking mine to please put dishes inthe dishwasher, not the sink. Is it still too early for them to get it?

Chris...when my girls still lived at home...and they would NOT pick up their dishes or put them in the dishwasher....I finally just didn't wash any for a few days...yeah it's gross....BUT....when they started complaining...I said to them "they are right where you left them and if you think it is my DUTY to do them, you are MISTAKEN...so from now on, if you want clean dishes, you will pick them up and put them in the dishwasher or you can eat off of dirty ones." I was given this advice back then...it works for a while...they always seem to revert back...but it is effective!! It's all in weather you can stand it for a few days....I tell ya...I actually took and hid a lot of the dishes in my bedroom so it wouldn't take so long...LOL!! a couple of days. The alternative method would be to have ONE plater per person, One glass, One set of silverware....so the very next meal...when they are still dirty.....they might just get the message when they actually have to wash them to eat with them!!

i have been so in need of a flylady support group I have been a fly baby for years. I would love to actually do the 30 days in a row. count me in next week. anyone else need a flybaby steps partner?

I've just returned from staying with my sister for a few days (who has an unbelievably disgusting house, but that's not the point of my story), and I was gobsmacked to see her 3 oldest pick up the plates and load the dishwasher after every meal, and they are only 12, 10 & 7 yrs old. Of course, they don't make their beds, pick up their clothes or flush the loo, but I suppose everyone's got to start somewhere. My kids are younger and at the moment I wouldn't trust them not to drop & break the plates, but I sure hope I can instill this system myself when the time comes.

LindaW- OMG-- I did that with their clothes- all three of my kids including the 40 yo one LOLOL You know what happened? I ended up having to do about a gazillion loads of laundry just to catch up. Love the idea of hiding dishes!

But.... good news!
Someone ran the dishwasher last night, and -- 2 days in a row I woke up to a clean sink!

I can't find the link to sign up- it was free- but here is the website. http://flylady.net/pages/jonathan.asp If I find the link, I'll post it.

Sooooo, how do all of you feel???? We did a full week!! Yayyyyyy!!!

Well..now Chris...by age 13...I had my kids doing their own clothes....if they ran out...it was their own fault!! But sounds like the dishwashing FAERY showed up at your house...YAY!!

I feel good about this past week...especially since DH was home all week...I am not getting the emails...just looking at your links...

So, this morning my poor husband had the misfortune of being the subject of a mini-meltdown. It was not pretty but so incredibly helpful in the long run. We both have such hhorrible habits but I think we are both on the same page. He had already looked through the FLYlady stuff and really likes what it is all about. So, I think since we are going to be working together on it, instead of it being just me we are going to come up with our duties and get into the swing of things, although I will be following along with the 31 day program somewhat. Iam really excited that we are doing this together. We always try and tackle the entire house at one time and it hasn't worked for us. So, we have a plan and I am excited about it. tonight before I go to bed I want to have our daily lists. We will each have a hot spot. His is the front door area and mine is the desk. The desk is a long term project but 2-3 minutes a day will make me clean it differently than sitting down and cleaning for an hour or two. I think it will force me to throw more away. I ended up cleaning my room today. It looks amazing and I feel so relaxed as I walk into it. I love it. So, I'd better head off and get our lists together. Whoohoo!!

Linda W- yeah I wish I could have them take that over. But we broke our septic with all of our abx, and I have to be so careful when and how I run the laundry. To top it off, they are supposed to be in charge of putting away their clothes. (I fold while watching tv) and Cait's version of that is to leave them on the floor. Then when she cleans her room, she puts them all back in the hamper!! Argh!!!
If you have any advice on how to deal with that- man, I'll up for trying anything!

Oh, BTW- if she does put her clean clothes in the hamper and they aren't buried in there, I make her take them out and wear them that way. You'd think that would be a lesson.... but no....

Clara!!!!!!! Sa-weeeeeeet!!!!!!!!!!! Good for you and YMG!!!!!!!!!!! Send some of that my way!!!!!

Oh...Chris...I had one that did that too with her clothes...all over the place and then clean into the hamper...that's when the "you are washing your own clothes" began...but that's not an option for you.. Hmmmmm...might have to think a bit on this one. Need something creative!!
