Help needed to Change Color of Word Art

I have always just used the black Word Art as is. Is it possible to change the black to another color? :-? Have a last minute Christmas Gift project and the black blends in with my background too much. Thank you

in Photoshop you can clip a paper to the wordart layer, or a colour (bucket fill )layer.

You can also lock the transparency of the layer (click on the little gray/white checker square) and then color it with brushes!!

Probably too late for your gift, but for future reference, you can also do a color overlay via layer styles

Put the color you want as the foreground color. CTRL click the layer the word art is in, in the layer panel (to get marching ants). Click ALT + SHIFT + BACKSPACE.

I usually use the Color Overlay or Clip a paper to to it, but I am going to have to try the other tips as well. I don't think I have ever locked transparency on a layer before-- sounds like it has a lot of possibilities
