after seeing all those beautiful finished 365 books online in several places I thought I wanted to do this too .
So I plucked up the courage , bought special templates and off I went.
With a sprint... but then I missed a week and another one and.. yes you guess it.. I failed miserably getting stuck somewhere in April.
How did you get on?? are you still on track ? how do you do it?

perhaps mine will become one made in 2 years instead.

Oh boy I LOVE to talk about 365/366 :)

I AM on track, but I am somewhat obsessively compulsively organized about my P365.

I have a camera device with me at all times. Most of my daily photos get taken with my iPhone, but if I am going anywhere special, I take my point and shoot. And for really special, the DSLR comes along.

With pictures potentially on 3 different devices, sometimes I can get confused as to what the pic of the day is/was, since I don't offload everything every day.

So I keep a list in my notebook, jotting down what the pic was. If it is getting near bed time and I have not taken a pic, I go outside and take one :)

I also enlist my family in the effort. I ask my daughter and my SIL to send pics, and if my husband is away, I ask him to take pics and send them to me...my life is as much about them as me, so I think this is a good way to supplement my own photos.

Online, I keep a P365 folder on my desktop, with subfolders for each month. As I am reviewing pics from my phone and memory cards, I copy the chosen ones into the monthly subfolder and rename to eg Aug 13 Roses.

I do my weekly layouts within a couple of days to a week, eg I finished my week 32 layout this morning.

I use a 'standard' template, having chosen Anna Aspnes FotoInspired Layouts...I've seen others use very simple layouts and I think that helps a lot, but I like these more complex layouts :)

Oh and I subscribe to Katrina Kennedy's Capture Your 365...you can have monthly lists and daily prompts sent to help remind you.

This all may sound like a lot of effort, but the rewards are tremendous! This is my 2nd year. My P365 book from last year is a visual treasure, a diary, and artwork all wrapped into one!

I'm on track this year. If I do nothing else I get my FotoInspired Layout done for the week and switching up a basic design has helped keep it interesting.

I have tried so many times to do this and always end up missing a day and then I feel like I've blown it so then I just give up. I've found I'm better with making sure I get a photo a week. Maybe one of these days I'll actually scrap those pictures :)

I'm not doing Project 365 / 366 / Life (or whatever other names it goes by) ... BUT ... I do try to take an Instagram photo a day using a prompt (@fatmumslim is who I use, she creates a monthly list on her blog) ... even if I miss a day (or two), I don't worry, I either just catch up & upload more than 1 photo or I just skip a day ... no biggie & no beating myself up over it either!

you're so well organised Diane. And what a beautiful book , so big too 74 pages .
There are many times that I wish I had a camera with me to capture special moments .
I don't have a modern mobile with camera as we live out in the sticks and often have no reception( even if i had one I'd forget to bring it)
good idea to ask the family to send pictures too.
And prompts are great too, simple things you'd never think of photographing
I still have plenty of photos of everyday life ,I think my main problem is getting back into a routine so it becomes a habit again. But at the same time I don't want to be stressing to catch up.

I continue to want to do this...LOL! I never get more than a few days...and then something happens...and then my perfectionistic tendencies come out and I stop... Having said that, what could be more perfect than beginning this on August 14 of 2012. Diane has the most beautiful layouts for her book that I have ever seen. What memories!

I'm starting today! Thanks for the inspiration Ellen.

ooh I like the Instagram a day idea! I do a lot of Instagramming as well, and sometimes these end up as my POTD (Photo of the Day).

I didn't mention, cause you will now start to think I am over the top, I also print the photos themselves outside the layouts. I am constantly getting offers for free prints, just pay for shipping, or penny prints, and take advantage of them. I place these, along with printed 12x12 layouts, in a 12x12 binder with photo sleeves.
But Instagrams don't print well because of their square aspect ratio.

Anyway, thank you for your kind comments on my book! I love looking at my book, and showing it to people. Those who don't photograph much or who don't scrap are blown away by this book, whereas for me, it's like, of course this is what I do!

Ellen I get nervous when I am out of mobile range, not sure I could handle that...ha ha!

I do 365, too, and I wouldn't consider myself on track. I tried it a few years ago and didn't get the pages scrapped. I got the photos taken and blogged about them but I never got them scrapped. However, all the info is there so I can go back a scrap them.

This year, I started off fantastically, but I have petered out. I still take a photo a day and I have all of January and part of February scrapped but then I got distracted or something. I'm trying to put them all on my blog so I can just go back and scrap from that but I think I still have to put May on there. I have found that minimal photo editing helps keep me on track as it takes less time. Also, this year, I decided to use Maya de Groot's P365+1 templates to keep the book uniform. I'm scrapping each month with a single kit, too. I figure that will keep the month looking uniform and I don't have to decide what kit to use every time I sit down to scrap so it will take me less time.

As far as missing a photo here and there...I don't sweat it. I also sometimes have two photos of the day if there have been a couple of exciting events in my life... I figure...my project, my prerogative. I have even thrown in some extra inserts...like doing a day in the life in February and giving it 3 or 4 pages. Or doing a double page spread of a special event, like our anniversary...stuff like that. I just modify it so I can remember our life best.

I think that's the best way Sandra fill it in the way you want to , when there is something special i just did a whole single photo page to go on the other side.
And yes, I did use one template for the whole book , may be I'll need to switch to just one kit to make it easier. I was combining papers that went well together.
Just talking about it makes me want to start on it again
What I hate most of the whole proces is the journaling. Next time if I ever do one again I'll go for a one liner template

I always admire the ones who really can do this!
I tried in 2008 but so many things happened (my husband had a motorbike accident and ended up in the hospital with major nerve damage and lots of other things), so I had other things on my mind than taking a photo a day and scrap once a week.
Then I tried a month page, but then when it was March I realised I didn't take one single photo in February because of the bad weather and our normal daily life wasn't interesting enough to take photos about.
So I don't do it anymore! LOL!

oh Irene I thought they had to be special photos too and us living in teh sticks wasn't very exciting
but am now happy with just piccies of ordinary life , even if it's a pair of muddy boots. Look at the weekly page Vivre makes, they are so appealing

Hi Ellen, my best advice concerning the 365-project is: allow yourself to cheat!! And the second 'rule': choose a moment in the week (to me: sunday afternoon/evening) to put your layout together and stick to it (and enjoy!)!

I don't believe my pictures are that extra-ordinary, but i take time to arrange them carefully. I use the most 'simply' template that you can imagine, but putting the layout together costs me 2 or 3 hours! Every time i start the actually srap-proces i'm convinced that i'll fail that week - and every time i'm surprised of the outcome myself!

And i ♥ Katrina Kennedy for her daily inspiration: http://captureyour365.us2.list-manage.com/subscribe?u=7b03e681148c15234dcfdf10a&id=3aac0729e8

after all this I felt motivated enough to start again and am now slowly catching up whilst doing the current week too.
Thanks for all the encouragement
