Have you seen Instagram's new policy?

There's no place like hOme!
So has everyone seen Instagram's new intellectual property policy?

http://news.cnet.com/8301-13578_3-5...ays-it-now-has-the-right-to-sell-your-photos/

I haven't started an account thus far, but will those of you who use it be deleting your accounts? Apparently you need to delete your account by January in order to opt out, so I hope everyone who wishes to do that is aware of this. What are everyone's thoughts on this?

I was going to make sure this was posted here after my husband told me about it this morning.

You would think that companies would learn. People want to own their own content!!

Well I believe people expect a lot from a FREE app, also there is no real privacy on the Internet !
You can use Instagram and save to camera roll and not upload anything :)

My 1st reaction was "what the heck?!?!?!, surely they can't do that, can they???" ... but the more I've thought about it, the more I've decided I'm not going to be deleting my account (yet!). I've always been mindful of what I upload anyway. I wouldn't upload ANYTHING to ANY site on the internet if I wasn't comfortable with people seeing it.

I understand people's concerns though, especially where children are involved.

It's not as much about people seeing it. It's the company selling your photos to whoever they want and you get neither notification nor compensation for it.

That's not right.

I don't think it's about privacy for a lot of people. You're right both of you that you can't expect privacy if you're uploading things to the internet...especially for free. But come on...to make money of of someone and not compensate them isn't right.

Don't get me wrong, I understand completely that people are getting upset at the thought of BIG a corporate company making money out of it's users and not reimbursing or even notifying them ... but at the same time, I'm guessing the quality of most Instagram images probably renders them unusable.

I truly do understand peoples concerns / frustrations, but I for one will continue to use the app / site (for the time being, anyway).

I won't be deleting my account...I enjoy using it, and am really not concerned about someone using pics of my roses or breakfast ;-)

I have not checked but as of last night it seemed Instagram was reconsidering.

There is another app I like called Vintique, and Via Me, which I believe is not threatening to sell images.

lol Eva!

And, I just use it to add some fun to my random photos - there's no way anyone would want to use them for anything lol If i was one of those who do the incredible instagram masterpieces, I'd probably be upset.

Pretty much Vicki! Who'd want my shots?

Still keeping my account.
