always chatty at the O!!
So, It is technically Friday in NC, even if not in Seattle so I thought I would go ahead and get the Friday thread started since I have been so bad about posting this week and have missed you all.
It has been a great week. I have gotten to spend lots and lots of time seeing my family and friends. Some regulars and some not. Last weekend we went to one of the largest Oktoberfest celebrations in the US. It is in this Bavarian town in the mountains here in Washington. It is amazingly gorgeous there. I was ridiculous and was commenting on all the gorgeousness and was pretty much to the point of saying how beautiful the trash was. Derek and I got to spend some time with my sister and my her boyfriend which was great because we got to know this guy she has been spending so much time with. He seems like a good guy. They have a lot to work out because they are from different cultures since he is from Peru and it is hard for him to tell what is cultural and what is just regular relationship stuff but they are trying to work through it and it will either work or it won't. We'll see how it goes. I think if they are willing to keep the fact that they love each other as the important thing and not let the silliness get in the way and work through things and communicate the best they can they can have a great relationship but we'll see what happens. I just want my sister to be happy. She's got to work on not being so bossy. It was great to see friends in Leavenworth also and drink way too much beer and wine. Before we left we took the kids down to my old neighbors house and then my aunt was going to pick them up just a bit later. Right as we were getting in the car to leave I saw that Addie was over by my house...the house we are renting. Apparently she had rang the doorbell, I am guessing because the door was locked. Then when Amanda, the renter, unlocked it Addie just walked right in as though she still lived there. So we had to have a little sit down about how we didn't actually live there anymore. It was pretty funny.
Since we've been back from Leavenworth we have had a good time visiting with friends and family although time has gone by way too fast. Derek left on Tuesday and has already gone back to work. Ethan has been doing school work while we have been here but we have still been doing other stuff. I heard that they have a Harry Potter exhibit at the Science Center here which could be a lot of fun. I'll need to check that out. Tonight we spent some time with a really old friend who I haven't seen in years. It was very unfortunate. We kinda lost him in a divorce. He basically walked away because it was the easiest way to go for him. But the wife went pretty crazy and he didn't realize how crazy she had gone on us. But it was very nice to see him and catch up. He is remarried now and sounds like he is really happy. I saw one of his sons the last time I was in Cleveland. We grew up together. It was actually really funny. A few years ago I took the kids back to see my in-laws and invited him over and they didn't know this guy but I've known him since he was 6. They were just sitting there like who is this guy you are inviting over and does Derek know this guy? But by the time he left they were telling him if her ever needed anything to just say the word. It was pretty funny.
Okay, well, there is a novel for you. Today I am hoping to go to the pumpkin patch but it will possibly rain. What?? Rain in Seattle? You've got to be kidding. LOL!! Okay I will chat later and will try and get some personals in later. Love you all.
