Happy Friday - TGIF

clarabear

always chatty at the O!!
So, It is technically Friday in NC, even if not in Seattle so I thought I would go ahead and get the Friday thread started since I have been so bad about posting this week and have missed you all.

It has been a great week. I have gotten to spend lots and lots of time seeing my family and friends. Some regulars and some not. Last weekend we went to one of the largest Oktoberfest celebrations in the US. It is in this Bavarian town in the mountains here in Washington. It is amazingly gorgeous there. I was ridiculous and was commenting on all the gorgeousness and was pretty much to the point of saying how beautiful the trash was. Derek and I got to spend some time with my sister and my her boyfriend which was great because we got to know this guy she has been spending so much time with. He seems like a good guy. They have a lot to work out because they are from different cultures since he is from Peru and it is hard for him to tell what is cultural and what is just regular relationship stuff but they are trying to work through it and it will either work or it won't. We'll see how it goes. I think if they are willing to keep the fact that they love each other as the important thing and not let the silliness get in the way and work through things and communicate the best they can they can have a great relationship but we'll see what happens. I just want my sister to be happy. She's got to work on not being so bossy. It was great to see friends in Leavenworth also and drink way too much beer and wine. Before we left we took the kids down to my old neighbors house and then my aunt was going to pick them up just a bit later. Right as we were getting in the car to leave I saw that Addie was over by my house...the house we are renting. Apparently she had rang the doorbell, I am guessing because the door was locked. Then when Amanda, the renter, unlocked it Addie just walked right in as though she still lived there. So we had to have a little sit down about how we didn't actually live there anymore. It was pretty funny.

Since we've been back from Leavenworth we have had a good time visiting with friends and family although time has gone by way too fast. Derek left on Tuesday and has already gone back to work. Ethan has been doing school work while we have been here but we have still been doing other stuff. I heard that they have a Harry Potter exhibit at the Science Center here which could be a lot of fun. I'll need to check that out. Tonight we spent some time with a really old friend who I haven't seen in years. It was very unfortunate. We kinda lost him in a divorce. He basically walked away because it was the easiest way to go for him. But the wife went pretty crazy and he didn't realize how crazy she had gone on us. But it was very nice to see him and catch up. He is remarried now and sounds like he is really happy. I saw one of his sons the last time I was in Cleveland. We grew up together. It was actually really funny. A few years ago I took the kids back to see my in-laws and invited him over and they didn't know this guy but I've known him since he was 6. They were just sitting there like who is this guy you are inviting over and does Derek know this guy? But by the time he left they were telling him if her ever needed anything to just say the word. It was pretty funny.

Okay, well, there is a novel for you. Today I am hoping to go to the pumpkin patch but it will possibly rain. What?? Rain in Seattle? You've got to be kidding. LOL!! Okay I will chat later and will try and get some personals in later. Love you all.

Oh yeah baby! TGIF!!!!!!

Clara- I am so happy that you are having such a great time "back home." I can't imagine not living in NJ (well, some days I would love to leave!). when are you heading back to NC?
That is really funny about Addie and your house. She is such a cutie! I hope that the rain holds off until after the Pumpkin Patch. And if not, Pumpkin lattes sound like a good substitute.

As for me, I am beat. The drive down to the dr was ok- a little over 2 hours. But the way home.... ugh- almost 3! There were several accidents, traffic, a detour that took us a half hour to pretty much loop around to where we started....
But the good news is that the dr was really good. Very much in tune with Gary's issues of both diabetes and Lyme. He thinks that Gary will need surgery. he has a pinched ulnar nerve (elbow) and it is causing the muscles in his hand to atrophy. Not good for a guitar player. he isn't sure, but the constant nausea could be 1. Lyme. 2. The amount of meds he takes or 3. broken blood vessels in an area of his brain that might have caused brain damage. He has to go for a nerve test (back down in trenton) and an MRI (up here).
he also wants to put gary on IVIG, which would be in infusion of antibodies that help to regulate the immune system and has a great success rate for "stubborn" cases of Lyme. The good news is that it could really help Gary. The bad news is that it might not be covered by insurance to have a nurse come to the house. The other option would be to have to go "in hospital," which isn't much of an option due to the distance we would be. It would 2-5 days a week, for 6 months. So as you can imagine we are really hoping the Medicare can pull through. But we're not really all that optimistic....

Off to work at MIL's today. Looking forward to sleeping in abut tomorrow!

Laurie....Have a great day sweetie!!!

What is the moving thread? I keep seeing some of you talk about going to the main forum to chat the rest of the day. I can't seem to find it.

Clara, isn't Leavenworth in MO? I would love to go back to WA for a visit. It is by far my favorite state! Too bad my whole family can't just move up there! I'm guess you guys flew this time. What a drive that would be! Glad t hear you're having such a great time! We don't have good Octoberfests here. Gotta go west for those I guess.

I get to work on laundry today. I am going to sit here again for way too long and continue with my pages. I want to finish Aleyna's baby pictures. She's 9! I am waaaaaay behind!

Clara, my DH kept waking up last night thinking the rain was here, lol! We were sleeping with the sliding glass door cracked open so he could listen for it.

Today we're going to the shooting range, so he's paranoid about this huge storm coming in. He's been looking forward to going shooting ever since we began to THINK about coming up here. Hopefully my laundry will be done by the time we have to leave, because these pants I'm wearing now are a few pounds too tight... oppps.

I got plenty of sleep last night, apparently my cough was back too and that was keeping me up the other nights. But two cough drops did the trick & the fam didn't wake me up until around 7.

Chris -- I'm so glad things worked out with that Dr! I hope medicare or SOMETHING works out for you!
Laurie -- I hope you make it through the day!
Nana Linda -- GL w the SS office! I still haven't been able to change my name with them. That's the battle when I get home :( I feel your pain!
Katrina -- GL finishing up your pages! My problem has been not having enough to scrap, lol.

TGIF Ladies!!! Off to work for a few hours today then home to have supper with hubby and watch a movie tonight, I love Friday nights curled up on the couch and watching a good flick!! Hope to be back here later for personals, have a great day everyone

Hey girlies...just got done with a pedicure here at the house...yep, my pedicurist travels! yipeeee!! so now I'm off to sew some aprons. A couple of custom orders (yep, Clara...yours is in here, too!! LOL!!) And then a cool church service tonight. HOpe I get something accomplished today. I've been fighting major allergies...or a cold...or something. So that's why I've been a little quiet. I have been scrapping, though!! yipeee!!

Laurie, i just wanted to say that it warmed my heart that I got to clean with you yesterday!! teehee!!! It's super nice to know that I'm not the only one who adores those songs!!! :)

ohhh and Katrina, I think the girlies are all talking about the Posting Challenge thread...it gets a little wild in there!! LOL!!! https://ozone.oscraps.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18043

hugs, everyone!!! have a great weekend!! ♥

I hate winter. Cold means time to be poor and spend all your money on heating oil. Had I known how expensive this was I never would have bought this house. Boy do I miss electric heat! I didn't know about budgets till last year and now we find out they started the end of Spring so we are out of luck. This means someone is going to have to go get a job to afford the heating bills this year.Don't know how that will happen cause I applied everywhere when we first moved here. I have no experience. I have always been a stay at home mom. Even Target and Walmart wouldn't hire me back then. Grrrrrr

Hey ladies...So, I wanted to leave some personals before we head out to the pumpkin patch. I'm waiting for my brother. he's looking into buying a house right now. There is one down the street that just went into foreclosure. they could get a really good deal. Plus he's looking into taking the kids to a chaolate factory tomorrow. How fun is that?? Love it!!!

Anyway...

Chris I'll be praying that all that insurance stuff works out. I'm glad they have some good ideas for you and I hope everything comes together for you. gary definitely needs to be playing that guitar.

Laurie - I hope you get through the day. :)

Katrina - Yes leavenworth is in Missouri but it is also in WA. It is in between Steven's Pass and Wenatchee (where Lindsay Knight is from if you remeber her) and it is a little Bavarian town and all of the building are decorated with a Bavarian motif. It is really cool. Good luck with A's pics.

Meg - Have fun shooting today. I love going shooting. I hope it didn't rain. Open your window at night. that helps a lot, along wioth Robitussin. I hope you are enjoying your vacation.

Trudy - Sounds like a great Friday night to me. Can't beat movie night with your guy. Love it.

Katrina - now is the time to apply for some jobs during the holiday season. Everyone is hiring for seasonal help, experience or not. Try Kohl's.

Sally - Keep up the hard work. I can't wait to get my order. I need to set aside some money for my order. Whoohoo!! Yay!! I'm glad you are scrapping too. Loving your stuff!!

Okay, I think I got everyone. Hugs to everyone.

Ok work is done, waiting for hubby to come home and have supper. Weekend off and hoping to connect with SIL at MIL's on Sunday.

Clara - I love your novels!!! Sounds like your trip has been pretty great so far, hope you have a good time at the pumpkin patch!

Chris - Ugh all that travelling, it can really wear you out and if you have to keep doing it, then double ugh!!

Laurie  hope your day was great!

Nana Linda - hope all went well at the Social Security Office. I lost all my ID once and what a pain in the *$#* that was!! Cost me quite a bit too if I remember correctly.

Katrina - Ugh on the heating bills!! I can remember when electricity cost more than fuel (opps, showing my age!!)

Meg - now you be careful on that shooting range!! I hate guns, but my husband is RCMP and we have always had one around. Locked up of course, but always around. They give me the creeps.

Sally - you are always so busy girl!! Hope that you are not getting a cold, take care of yourself now!

Hope everyone has a great Friday night, I am going to try to get some more LO's done for my daughter this weekend. (if I don't get sidetracked again) LOL

(out of order, I have no idea where my mind is)

Trudy -- WE SAW OTTERS!!! I need to upload the video to youtube.

Katrina -- I totally feel your pain!! Have you thought about doing scrap for hire & advertising it to friends & fam on facebook? There's a lot of info over at DST. I've never done S4H, but if you're able to market yourself it can really pay off :)

Clara -- Can I come with you to the chocolate factory? lol! The DH keeps eating up all of my PMS supply.

Sally -- I hope you have a great evening at church!!! I can't wait to get my itunes account linked back up so I can enjoy your music :)

Trudy -- have fun at your concert!!!!

OK, so tonight we're going to the HS's football game...... grooooaannnnnnnn... I despise football, and I'm not at all used to this cold weather. So, I'm going to make myself lots of hot chocolate or tea. I guess we HAVE to go because they're #1 in the state, lol. Tomorrow is my sister's soccer and my bro's football, in the rain. I wish I had brought my snow jacket, for warmth and rain protection, instead of just my rain jacket and sweaters.

See you all in the weekend thread!!!!

Hi sweeties!

Rain in Seattle? Naaaah - seriously the last 3 times we were there this month it was gorgeous weather! Seriously! :)
I was there last week again, gorgeous sunny day, get into California and it's all thick fog and rain blegh!
Then in Arizona they had this huge thunder storm, I ran into hail so I slowed down before it got really bad, but a family in an SUV wasn't as smart. The dad (I assume) was going about 70 mp/h (I was doing about 50 mp/h at this point) and all of the sudden the hail was coming down in buckets leaving a 1 to 2 inch layer of ice on the road so he then thought of slowing down...well that's about the most stupid thing to do cause he slams on his brakes and of course his car begins to fish tail right next to me, he tries to correct it and then his car started spinning wildly around RIGHT NEXT TO MY SEMI
I couldn't brake as it would cause me to jack knife so I was sending prayers right up hoping he wouldn't slide under my tractor or trailer which luckily he didn't but he did end up against a tree. :icon_frown:
I was shaking so badly for 5 minutes just couldn't believe that had happened.

Same kinda thing almost happened again in New Mexico; same scenario. Then I parked the truck and told my husband it was his turn to drive, I took 2 Pamprins and went unconscious :eyebrows:

So that was my adventure for the week. Right now we're in DeSoto, TX (Dallas) for the weekend in a hotel to RELAX! Nobody mess with momma!! :lalala:

Meg: where is that dragon outside of Yreka? I never even saw it? I am known to miss stuff though haha!!

 Hi Katrina nice to meet you!!

Sally, I must have missed it, sorry, but how did your sales go last weekend?
Did it go as you expected?

Faerywings: I am glad they have options for your Gary indeed, now lets hope you can work something out with Medicare! I am keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Laurie: love the page you made with the wine t-shirts!

See yall this weekend!!
