Good News Round up: May 2022

I am so happy, proud, and relieved at a few good things that happened in my life in the last 24 hours. One of which, I want to scream from the rooftops but I don't want the neighbors to call the cops on me. This seems like a much more appropriate place.

First thing up: My mom, after THREE years of dragging her feet- finally got a pacemaker. It was a little rocky, her health is not good, so it was s huge relief when I got the call that the surgery a. happened and b. that she is doing well and should be coming home today
Second: I got invited to be on Foxeysquirrels CT! *happy dancing*
Third/Last and by far the BEST: My DD, Caitlyn, is graduating with her Master's in Social Work on Thursday. And... she got straight As in all four semesters. And-- get this-- she got 100s in three out of her seven courses this semester. Perfect grades. Several of her professors are the "I don't give out As" and she got so many.

Thank you for letting me shout out my good news. Now it is your turn.

What good news do you want to yell from the rooftops? It doesn't have to be big, it could be as simple as finding a cute pair of shorts on sale or enjoying a really good dinner.
Let's all cheer each other on!

Wow! Those are all HUGE, Chris. I'd be shouting, neighbors or no neighbors, and I live in an apartment!! So happy to hear your Mom did well with her surgery and is coming home. I hope this makes a huge difference in her overall health. Congrats on the designer team. And big Congrats to Caitlyn for her incredible academic achievements!!

Great news Chris!

Right now I'm happy about having realized how effing WELL I'm feeling. There has been a couple of things (nothing big, but anyway annoying things) happening lately. Things that before would have sent me into a spin of anxiety & depression. But ... I just walked away from it. I'd say I'm finally really understand that I'm in control of my anxiety & depression. I am basically a HAPPY person.

It might sound weird to others, but I have been diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder & Recurrent Depressions, and been struggling with it all my life. I've been feeling fine ever since I had my Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in early 2019, but the things that happened lately would before have meant me isolating myself, and stop going out. Finally I understand - I'm fine!

Chris, I am so happy to hear the good news about your MOM finally having her surgery!!! And so happy and proud of Cait... bit achievement on her part! I would be shouting it from the rooftops, too!!!

I've got lots of frustrating things going on but also lots of gratitude and happiness for our new life here in Kamloops. Today I am happy that my new microwave is finally coming. Its been almost 7 wks without it. It will be a few days before the installer comes but at least it will be here.

It is good to hear positive news on all fronts.
My news is that hubby is in the process of building me a new wazoo, honkin big PC computer! All the parts have arrived so now it is time to spend the next hours backing up all my files etc so that they can be transferred. It will be next week at the earliest that I will be able to create anything. I also will be learning PSE22 as windows 11 supports it.

I was working today, and then my coworker said "The week is all messed up for me now" and I wondered what she meant. And she said we usually work together on Thursdays, and now we worked together on a Wednesday. She felt it should be Friday tomorrow, but now she had 2 more work days before the weekend. She wasn't happy about that confusion, but I am happy. I thought it was Thursday too, but for me it felt I was given an extra day this week, to just relax & scrap.

my big, happy news is we were finally able to get a new pool liner. We limped it through last year when supply chain issues prevented us from getting one but would have had to take it down this year if we couldn't get one. But we got it and I'm thrilled!

That IS good news! I worked for a pool company many years ago and I know what a big deal that is! We only sold liner-hung pools and that's awesome news!!

My good news is that I had a wonderful day visiting a local nursery, then to Lowe's Garden Center and I got most of the plants that I still needed for my front garden. I also found a Lavender Plant which I'd been needing for my herb garden.

@Cherylndesigns I am so jealous! I still haven't made it to the garden center and need to replace the lavender that didn't make it this winter. Did you find that baby herb stroller while you were out?

Every day ends on a good note now. We got the hot tub running so every night we can get in after dinner for a bit. I sit in the seat looking out at the trees in the yard so I can watch the birds flitting about. That makes every day a good one.

FYI...the microwave did come (a day late) and the installer came yesterday so we now have a new microwave above the stove. It looks pretty (much better than the empty hole we have been staring at for 6 wks lol).

I have another bit of good news to share- this is about my other incredibly smart and hard-working kid. (kid-- he turned 26 on Saturday but will always be my kid LOL!)
Anyway----- when he was in college, one of his big assignments was to create and implement a program for the eradication and remediation of invasive plants in the area. He then worked at a local ecology center to complete the assignment-- but that turned out to be just the beginning of the project. The ecology center loved what he did and over the last three years, has been collaborating with him to expand it. This past weekend he helped lead a group of volunteers in removing Japanese barberry from the forest. He said that it was one of the best ways he could imagine to celebrate his b-day.

My good news is that I was invited to join a day trip with work on Wednesday. Since I'm only a temp that's in no way guaranteed that you get to go on these team building stuff. So beside the fact that I will have a nice day, it feels more like I'm "one of the gang".

We're going to visit a farm, and then see some old farm houses & after that having afternoon tea at a hotel. Trying "proper" afternoon tea is on my bucket list. Just hoping it will be at last semi proper. Not sure how the afternoon tea culture is in Sweden.

Will bring my smaller Canon (it fits in the handbag & not so heavy). Not as good as my big camera, but it's good enough. My work mates will learn I'm a photographer now. 200 photos of cows, 250 photos of the farm cat, 850 photos of the tea pot.
