Hi everyone just an update on how I am feeling which is fed up at the moment the meds the hospital gave me have dreadful side effects they are very strong Antibiotics one is CO-TRIMOXAZOLE 960mg twice a day and METRONIDAZOLE 400mg three times a day I have to take them for 10 days I have struggled with going to the loo every 10 to 15 min my downstairs burns like mad I feel sick have tummy ache and my asthma has flared up and I have swollen feet like elephants …..anyway last night was the worst I stayed up all night in the recliner as I was going to the loo every 10 min then it went to 20 min then 30 min it slowed a bit by 5 am ...I phoned the doctors and was lucky enough to get in this morning with my own doctor who said I had to persevere with the tablets as they prevent me from getting sepsis he also said the burning was thrush from the antibiotics as they are so strong now I have more meds … FLUCONAZOLE one tablet which hopefully will get rid of the thrush PREDNISOLONE for a week to help with the asthma and METOCLOPRAMIDE one three times a day for feeling sick and tummy ache I finish the antibiotics on Monday and hope and pray I can get through them without any more discomfort I am so down and tearful which is not me this Gall Bladder infection has taken it's toll and still no letter for an MRI scan yet.Thank you for listening I needed to get this off my chest.​

Yikes!! Mary!! Poor you!! I sure hope this does not last much longer, how terrible to be feeling so poorly!! :hug:

Oh no Mary, so sorry to hear this! and yes, come here to have a vent, we are here to listen and support you sweets! Nothing worse than having these horrible side effect from medication that is 'supposed' to be helping us!!! PLEASE get onto a course of probiotics NOW to start healing your gut and to undo the damage the antibiotics have done. Sending big hugs dear lady and lots of positive healing thoughts that you are back to your normal happy self really soon!! xxxx

As someone who has Chronic/Late Stage Lyme (currently in REMISSION!!!:whoo: ) and has been on different combinations of abx for years and years and years, I feel every bit of frustration and pain.

I am going to second what Ona said about getting probiotics-- and get a good brand from the health food store, not the supermarket, it really does make a difference.
Diflucan is a godsend, but let your Dr know if the one tablet isn't enough. Sometimes you need follow-up doses since you are on high doses of some strong abx and steroids.

Additionally, drink lots and lots of fluids and see if Milk Thistle would be helpful. The abx can stress liver function and milk thistle is good for liver support.
