Eclipse Advisory

I am very concerned that all my Oscrap Friends will still have full vision with which to create your beautiful digital artwork after today. So as the wife of a retired optometrist, I feel compelled to mention that

RETINAL DAMAGE INCURRED FROM LOOKING AT THE SUN/ECLIPSE IS
PERMANENT!
IT WILL NOT HEAL.
IT CANNOT BE TREATED.
IT IS NOT WORTH IT!

Yes, and if you bought glasses/viewers, double-check them to make sure that they aren't counterfeit. I saw that Amazon has recalled a bunch.
Be safe!

Yeah I hear on the TV that you will have eclipse, sounds very intriguing,
but I'm a little bit confusing is it safe for the pets which will been outside at that time? I guess they have some instinct to protect himself, but it wasn't clear explained. And I don't mean looking at sun, of course, but been stressed or disoriented, because of the unusual lower light.

There have been warnings to keep pets inside, but I don't think they really ever look up at the sun, so don't think it will be a problem. The birds seemed a little confused when the eclipse started, but in the Seattle area there was very little change. Much ado a bout very little around here. It was nice to have clear skies, though, so we could actually SEE some change in the level of light. Usually we have cloudy skies during eclipses.

It was incredibly bright with blue skies here in Oklahoma today, then it got kind of shadowy - which was super cool - and then it went back to bright. I made all the different kinds of viewing boxes and then saw it through some "real" glasses. It was a very good time all around!

We only had about 70% eclipse so the light got "weird" but not where you would have said that we were in darkness.
My next door neighbors made pin hole viewers out of cups. Gary had this old film projector box that he had picked up at a thrift store and saved cuz it was cool. He modified that into a viewer and then made a second one out of a tube and a box. We met at my other neighbor's house and watched it all together.

We had heard the same, felis, about not letting animals outside but then realized that most animals wouldn't be dumb enough to look at the sun directly. Only humans would do that

In this show they were comment something about not letting animals outside because dogs start running around or very nervous cats can to hide somewhere, but I check one serious vet site and there have a video of cat which is sleep during all eclipse time. Probably only people give importance of this phenomenon.

We didn't see any animals during the (partial here) eclipse, so don't know what they did, but this human was very excited to watch the eclipse in leafy shadows. Here are some of my photos:

All of our pets acted no differently than they do on any other days. Big, lazy blobs of mush and love :) Except for the snakes. They don't feel love but they *are* lazy stringy, blobs. ha!!!

Jean- I will have to scrap a few of the photos that I took of the shadows too- thanks for the tip!
