... because I definitely don't. When I first started working and had to get up at 5:30, I used to put my old-fashioned alarm clock - the one with two bells and a thingy in between - on a baking tray in the kitchen, so that the noise was guaranteed to wake me up. As years went by, I - slowly but surely - got used to heeding the sound of my alarm clock.
Nowadays, approaching 50, I have realized that I now wake up 5-10 minutes before the alarms goes off... Somehow, I didn't notice when it started, but... oh, what a pleasure it is to NOT be jerked out of sleep by a sound - however soft and gentle it might be. This - waking up naturally - might be just a little thing, but it has had a tremendous effect on the quality of my mornings.
Anyone else can relate?
