Do you give up on a series or stick with it at all costs? :D

@Caro asked about Show Binge Watch and mentioned that she is on the last season of Scandal and is "feeling meh about finishing it." I think we have all been there. After a bunch of seasons or episodes, do I *really* want to keep going only because I watched [insert number] already? Or do I cut my losses because it's not worth wasting my time?

Typically, we keep watching. We are on the last season of Fear the Walking Dead and I am finding it silly and boring. But it's the last season and I have watched from the beginning... so we keep going on (and on...).

OTOH, we bailed on You towards the end of the third season. It was getting repetitive and I wasn't liking the characters anymore so we stopped. Them was another one we stopped watching after a particular episode (and if you know, you know). I wanted to watch it, thinking it was going to be more of a supernatural thriller, but That Episode was too real-life brutal and turned me off and turned my stomach :(

What do you do when you realize you aren't really enjoying a show? Which ones do you stick with and which ones have you given up on? Do you ever go back after a break and try again?

I watched all of YOU up until the latest season. Idk I guess I gave up on it lol I do give up on a lot of long lasting shows because they usually just end up getting boring.
Sidenote: It's crazy how long some series will last like Grey's Anatomy. I gave up on that one after the first two or three seasons.

Sometimes I stop because I've lost interest but we are still watching "The Blacklist" even though one of the main characters, Liz, left a long time ago and the show is not the same. Still, I would be sad if they cancelled it! :D

We have done some series binge watching. Sometimes its fun. Othertimes it does start to feel like a waste toward the end. We watched entire seasons of Fire Country, mainly because one of the actors was also on Seal Team. We are waiting for the next season!! Hoping a situation turns around quickly! lol. :bitingnails:
We watched all of Yellowstone, :whip3:and 1883 series. Hate the incessant F- bombs in Yellowstone though. Come on, writers, get a vocabulary! :please:
The latest of that "family"- 1923 we didn't like. We didn't finish it due to the last episode we viewed. It showed nudity, 3somes, M&M, and downright abuse of women. No thanks. Done! Frustrating because the series didn't need that junk. Coulda continued and developed without it just fine. Lazy writing, IMHO.
We watched every episode of In With The Old, Restoring Galveston ( she's so cute!), American Baking Competition, Diary of an Old Home, Barnwood Builders. Dan likes all movies based on Tom Clancy's books, so they are sort of a series, ha. There are more we have watched and continued to the end, unless we fell asleep or our convictions would be compromised.

most shows I don't intend to give up on, but just forget to watch. that can only mean I am not that interested any more.

I don't have things I don't like to see, but after 4 or more seasons of the same issues and things happening I get to the point that I don't believe it anymore? eg the blacklist, I don't mind that you are a master criminal but how many collegues/competitors can one have and betray. or grey's anatomy, how many accidents can one person have and still survive?

watching shows on tv once a week is easier to carry on watching than binging on netflix. it gives more time to forget what happened!

and a question: what does M&M stand for? the ones I know are delicious?

Add The Blacklist to my pile of "In Too Deep to Give Up Now." LOL

And man, I was so disappointed last night. We watched the latest episode of FTWD and I didn't realize it was the mid-*season* finale. It would have been fine if that wrapped it up then and there. oh well, I guess we still have another half-season to go.

For me that feeling of meh can come for two reasons - either I am not enjoying the show OR I actually like the show but am beginning to get a bit tired of their presence and need a break. And a short break is a great lithmus test to find out which one it is - if I am still feeling meh about going back to the show - I don't.

I remember I felt that way about Lucifer half way through Season 2 (the one with Charlotte) - but I liked the idea so I skipped all the way to season 3 (and loved it). I think I never fully watched season 2...

if it is the last season of a show that has been on for a few seasons i will stick to it but if a show goes down hill say after season 1, will give it up.

I solemnly swear I am up to no good!

We bail after giving it a good try. The last one we gave up on was "La Brea". THere are too many good shows to waste time on mediocre ones or ones we don't enjoy.

We gave up on that one too, think we made it through 2-4 episodes.
Looking back to when I first posted this, I think that we stick out most shows even if they are silly or annoying. I guess we are either lazy or feel like we have nothing better to watch LOL

I am with @Cherylndesigns if I don't like it, I stop watching it, time is very valuable to waste it, and the meaning to follow a tv show is have some fun, not to suffer.
Usually I watch movies, but I watched all the seasons of The Borgias (with Jeremy Irons, Francois Arnaud and Holliday Grainger), What we do in the shadows (tv series), the Great (hulu tv series), and for a while I watched Siren but I stopped on the second season because it turned to be so bored, tedious, violent and senseless.

I usuallly only watch miniseries because I do give up wachting. There are a few I did watch all the way. Game of thrones ( I was disappointed with the finaly), The handmaids tale, ( can't wait for the last season ) and Strangers Things, but did not like the last season so much.
I love the British detective shows, like Frost, but also like Hinterland, Wallander, Broadchurch, The Fall etc.
