Good morning ladies! We made it to the weekend!!!

So much to do to get ready for Christmas. And then, a week from now, I'll cook a big dinner, we'll eat it, and everything will be finished! But for now, I must focus on getting started. LOL Actually, the tree is up and decorated so I think that we are well on our way! Oh, and Dad bought ham for the Christmas dinner. Now, to just sprinkle in a few details. LOL

Sydney and Shaun have basketball games this morning but I'll be back later. Been looking forward to some real "O" time all week long!

Hi Linda and laurie!

Linda- I swear, i would be so incredibly stressed. I am very impressed that you are not! What is your secret???

Laurie- Sounds like a very festive weekend! Have a great time.

I think I am getting Caitlyn's cold. I have been fighting it for a while, taking tons of garlic pills. but It seems to be holding on a bit stronger ATM. I am sure it has *nothing* to do with me running around like a crazy-lady as usual. *eye roll*
My plans for today are to make one more batch of cookies, clean the kitchen, run one load of laundry. if I can get all of that done, i think I am going to spend the rest of the day in bed- Maybe I'll watch Its a wonderful Life. I love that movie and no one else does. That and a nice cup of tea sounds like heaven, doesn't it?

Friday's personals-

ME- what a nice day. I really miss Christmas with little ones. There is just so more magic. I was cracking up at your description of the different reactions of the PreK kids- brings me back when I would do that - and you always heard me more than them (and I have a terrible singing voice!LOL)

Caitlyn plays clarinet. She is really good. She also is teaching herself keyboards. Gary is a phenomenal/self-taught musician. Scott is teaching himself guitar and bass and has accomplished so much in the last year. They def. get it from their dad!

Trudy- hey girl!!! don't forget to take some time for you!

Meg- hahahahah!! You know me too well- you knew I would cave, eh? LOL
Awesome that you finished your C-mas shopping! I am glad that Riley is better. Dogs will eat just about anything ick!!!
A few years ago, Harley had a virus. She threw up three days straight and of course if was over thanksgiving. Dogs are like kids. Theynever get sick on a Tuesday morning, it has to be middle of the night or a holiday weekend.... Anyway, I had no idea that dogs could get stomach bugs like that. I ended up having to take her in to the vets, she was dehydrated, so they had to give her IV fluids and anti-emetics. The other thing I wanted to tell you to in case she gets sick again- they prescribed her to eat canned kitten food. Only a tsp at a time to start out.Apparently, they are just like people too-- in that when you have a stomach bug, you should only eat tiny bits of bland food.
Hope Riley is good to go, but i thought I;d post that in case it helps at some other point.

Clara-- big hugs to you and Ethan ((((((hugs))))

To everyone-- ::grouphug

Hey girlies!!! I know I've not posted here in a few days...I'm filling my life with Christmas cheer!! If you are watching my blog, I'm trying to post something creative every day, which has been super fun! I love to look for new inspirational ideas each day, and that is helping me keep my focus on what's important!

Okay, so we started our Christmas shopping LAST NIGHT!! And we are not close to being done (although we have the kids' big presents bought...waiting on UPS!! LOL!!). I really really want to hand craft a bunch of things, but I just can't seem to get myself to do it right now!! what???? LOL!! Too busy making another paper Christmas tree or stocking or something...so we'll see what we come up with this week!

Yesterday, my baby boy (13) came down with a fever. We were supposed to go to the mall in the morning to get him some Vans (late birthday present), but he just didn't feel up to it. Then later, he had a fever...*sigh* We are doing some major praying that it was just him and just that one time. He woke up feeling better this morning, and fever free. But we are supposed to have Christmas dinner Sat afternoon with the babies, and if there is any hint of fever anywhere? no babies!! *sob* Please pray!!! :)

Lillian (8) has her Mini-Olympics today, so we are doing that, cleaning up the house, and I'm crafting all night. I may try to pick up a few things and possibly go to my mom's Messiah performance. I dunno though. I'm trying to keep ME low key, so I don't get sick. Hopefully, Mom will forgive me!!!!

Don't forget, "The best way to spread Christmas CHEER is to sing loud for all to hear!!!"

i LOVE you all!!!

Good morning ladies!!!! Yay its Saturday and I have three days off WOOOT!! Although one day will be spent at the specialist getting the splints for my jaw UGGGG!! I have finally sat down and did a layout of my beautiful little grandaughter Sadie and will post in the gallery as soon as I am done here.

Chris - baking again?? I would weigh 300 lbs if I baked as much as you do! That is if I could only chew with this jaw of mine LOL. I really hope you get to go back to bed and watch that wonderful classic movie...its one of my favorites also! scoootch over would ya, so I can crawl in beside you and watch it with you. :becky:

LindaS - Oh sooo much to do and sooo little time!! Don't worry girl you will get it done!

Meg - Hope you get lots of apps for your CT!! I would love to apply, but with work the way it is right now I just don't have the time, but keep me in mind if you are still looking ok?

Sally - You are extra busy also, sorry that your baby is sick! Take care of you I am sure your mother will understand if you do not attend her function, Mom's are really good like that! I'm with you...lets :sing: Christmas Carols loud and clear for everyone to hear!! Hope you get everything done and you do not get sick before Christmas, or after either!!

Laurie - have a wonderful time tonight!!

Clara - how are you girl?? I always seem to miss you here. Hope all is well and  to you and your son.

Just came back from the Vet, had to get my Mr. Abu (cat) checked out so we can leave him at the kennel while we are in Orlando in January. No shots for him anymore, the last ones made him very sick!!! So the Vet wrote a certificate stating that he was in good health and no more shots will be neccessary. Poor old guy he is 15yrs old, that is 76 in people years and I just don't want to put him through that again. Off to buy a few little things to put in a basket for a christmas gift, we are only buying this one gift each to give at hubby's parents place on Christmas Day. No other gifts to each other and just his parents and two sisters and there spouses for Christmas Dinner. It will be quiet, but nice, no chaos, no over gifting, no stress!!! It will be an adult Christmas with no kids. Very different for us, so we will see how it turns out. Hope you all have a great weekend!!

Good morning! Well, it looks like my immune system has failed me again & I've come down with Jeff's cold. I was praying that he had the cold I had last week, but no, this one is it's own beast.

Today I'm going to work on OWD stuff, and hopefully get something done!!! I wrapped most of the presents yesterday, I'm not even going to bother wrapping the electric griddle for the in-laws... that giant is just getting a bow! The only gift left to buy is for my brother, and that's just going to be an itunes giftcard.

My MIL is baking up a storm today, hopefully enough to tide us over until Christmas! Jeff brought home the ham a few nights ago... I'm glad his work kept to that tradition! I'm ticked because they had told everyone that there would be larger bonuses this year, and then they ended up giving no bonuses at all. I'm thankful that we didn't pull a Griswald and spend any of that money in advance! Aside from the ham, I'm going to do PW's mashed potatoes, cinnamon apples, yeast rolls, and roasted carrots and parnsips I think. Still working on the menu a bit.

Linda -- Wow, I thought basketball was over! Have a great day today, hope you get things done!

Laurie -- Have fun out on the town!!!

Chris -- Feel better! Running around crazy and applying to CTs doesn't keep the colds at bay LOL
When I was growing up, my parents bred sled dogs. They always swore by rice + cottage cheese + shredded boiled chicken for when dogs are sick, and it always worked! My dog that got me through high school & college died almost a year ago from battling lymphoma for a year. The chemo only made her sick once, and that mixture brought her back from skin and bones!

Clara -- I hope you're able to get everyone out of the house and get stuff done! I'm all for lazy saturdays :)

Trudy -- Hooray for the days off!! I hope the fitting for the splints is painless and easy for you... it doesn't sound like it :( & don't worry, I'll be having another call in late January/Feb. This one is a teeny tiny call, three to five people, to tide me over. I'm just thankful there's any interest at all, because I've been seeing even larger designers hardly getting any response with their calls this time of year.

OK -- Off to find caffeine and get some things done!

Wow -- so I finally got some communication from my mom. Long story short, she texted me saying I owe the family several thousand dollars. My grandparents & my brother. We can't figure out why she would say that about my grandparents, other than in college they always wanted to pay for my text books -- they would hound me until I gave them my receipts. My brother... well, my mom blames me for him not receiving child support from my dad anymore... when she's the one who let him drop out of school (requirements for child support in OR is full time student, C's or better, under the age of 21.)
At first I was upset, but now it's really humorous. Obviously the only communication she's open for is to try and cause me pain, she's missing having a hold over me. My dad was amazing... he said all the right things and even texted me later -- "Remember we love you." Wow, if you had told me five years ago that things were going to be this way, that I would have a positive relationship with my dad, I never would of believed it.
Jeff also pointed out that my mom ran out of money almost a year ago -- and has more bills each month than she makes each month. His theory is that she wants to take advantage of my good heart so she could get money out of me, like she has in the past before the blowup.

I'm finishing up a kit, waiting for Jeff to get home. He texted me that he's going to be late, some kind of incident. He still hasn't left work :( I'm hoping that tomorrow is going to be a great day, because I'm going to need it!!!

Thought I'd stop in for a few minutes before it gets crazy here!

Chris, I hope that you don't get sick this week. Keep taking your garlic pills girl. And how am I keeping the stress at bay? Just trying to keep the priorities straight this year. Either that or I'm not facing reality! Hard to know for sure which it is!

Oh Sally, hope that Q didn't spread the germs to the rest of the family! And good job by you of getting that Christmas shopping started. :)

Trudy, an adult only Christmas. With the age of the kids in our family (oldest niece is 21 and youngest daughter is 6), I think that we will be having some form of kid Christmas for the rest of my life. We may hit a slow spot in about 8 or 9 years I guess...depending on when the nieces and nephew start getting married and having families.

Meg, sorry about your mom and glad that your dad is supporting you!

Laurie, did you have fun with your evening of dining and dancing? That sounds like so much fun!

Hey Clara, I hope that you got lots done. And sorry to hear that Ethan is missing Washington. Big adjustment to move like that!

Good mOrning, my O-Fam!

well, the cold germs are officially taking over. I cannot stand being sick- For some reason, i can work through joint pain and fatigue and other Lyme stuff. But give me a sore throat and a stuffy nose and a cough and I cannot cope at all.

I did get tons of stuff done in the morning, and put myself to bed with some crocheting, tea and Its a Wonderful Life for the afternoon.
Then we watched Elf with the kids after dinner. Such a fun movie!

Today I am going to do a bit more around the house, so when the kids are at school tomorrow I can finish the rest of my wrapping and baskets.

If I can get that done early enough, I am hoping for scrap therapy too!

Clara- how are you doing with your shopping and the credit cards? I know you have been working really hard to pay them off. I paid off the one credit card yesterday- Ouch! The other one only has $150 on it, so that is going to have to wait a bit.

How is Ethan today? poor kiddo. It must be so hard him- he is at the age where he understands the move but isn't old enough to cope with all of it. You are doing a great job with him!

Sally- yay for your smiling Christmas cheery face here! How is Q?? I hope that the fever is gone and that no one else gets it. I can't imagine not being able to see those little babies for the holidays.
I thought of you when Jovie said that last night! :sing:

Trudy- good luck tomorrow. Can you pre-medicated with some advil or tylenol so it will head off any pain?
I love to bake- Christmas cookies are my specialty :D I give lots of them away as gifts too. oh. I just realized- no bus drivers or teachers this year..... I usually gave some to the kids' drivers/teachers, but now that they are both is Middle and HS, I don't need to do that....
Oh well. guess I can either make the trays bigger or at any leftovers myself!

Good to hear Mr Abu is good to go- my Scarlett is going to be 16 in a couple of months. So hard to believe, right?
That sounds liek it is going to be a nice but very different C-mas with no kids. I miss having the little ones. It really does make the holiday different being able to see it through a child's eyes and heart.

Meg- yuck-- no more colds!
Gary just poked his head out from under the blankets- he has it too. Bah humbug! Hopefully all of us will be healthy by Friday!

Sounds like you have C-mas dinner going good. It sounds delish!!! Were you able to get some OWD done? Can't wait to see

((((hugs))) about your mom. I wish I had some words of wisdom. Thankfully your dad seems to be there for you. She seems very bitter. You don't deserve that -- that is for sure.

Oh I see your LO- wow. Good therapy for you and keep up that positive spirit!!!

Linda S LOL If it were me, denial is the way to go. But I am really proud of you!!

Better get going if I want to scrap later on today.

lOve the O!
morning all - dh and I finally broke down and decorated our tree- decided not to wait for ds to come home. I enjoyed many parts of the evening- but overall it was not the happy occasion I thought it was going to be. Just enough - little things piling up to make me wish I were home instead of out. You know that in a room full of people having fun but you feel all alone feeling- yeah one of those times. Off to bake and make cards and enjoy the day

Hi to all my favorite "O" friends!! Hope you are all having a great Sunday.
I am just quickly popping in and then I am off to make some potato soup.
Thanks again Chris for the recipe!! Everyone that posted a recipe for me Thanks so much and I intend to try each and every one of them YUMMMMM!!!!

Laurie - :sorry: that your evening was not all that you had hoped for. I hope that you enjoy the rest of your day!!

Linda S - hope your day doesn't get tooo crazy and that you get some time to yourself!!

Meg - That is a shame about your Mom!! She does sound like perhaps she is trying to make you feel guilty, but don't you dare!! What happened with her and your Dad is between them and not the kids, so nice that your father is not afraid to openly show his love for you!! Don't let her spoil your Christmas Spirit.

Chris - What an awful time for the cold bug to hit your house!! Make some of your famous soup and crawl back into bed and get better...That's an order!! Seriously I hope that you feel better very soon!!:)

Gotta go and make some soup....see ya!

Kids and I are baking this afternoon. We've made Pretzel Turtles...very simple and the kids did it all! We're now making Red Velvet cookies! And I'm starting some baked potato soup! I can tell that I'm in the holiday mood...too bad that I don't have the day off tomorrow. ;-)

Here all the schools are off from now until after the new year- I have 3 more days of work this week, then 4 off, then 3 the next week and 4 off- all without using my paid time off- that is wonderful- made cookies and peanut butter balls today, and now I am off to finish making cards for mr gorgeous to take with him this week.

always chatty at the O!!
Wow!! You guys have been a chatty bunch. Lots going on.

Chris - no credit cards. Just spending every ounce of cash on Christmas and just enough to pay our bills but that's it on the CC during the holiday season. So, nothing is getting paid off, but we are not going further into debt either. Once we get into the new year I will have to do some money moving though because when we sold our car we had some left over debt and i don't like where it is at. So, if i can I am going to put it onto the credit cards and get rid of the account it is on. It is essentially on an overdraft account and I don't like having an overdraft account. It sucks. But we have to get through the holidays first. i attempted to plan ahead for it but that failed a bit. cmas money went to our trip to georgia. I'm glad you are getting stuff done despite the sickies. You are so much more motivated than I am. I am sure trying to be a good mom right now. I am in the process of trying to talk Ethan into thinking that going back to school is a good idea. I looked up the school where we live and it is a decent school. 5th in the district out of a lot. He doesn't want to because he is so sad, but I'm going to go get him enrolled while he is in Washington and then while my mom is here we'll go and check it out and then he can start after she leaves. I am still having issues connecting with the stupid doctor about his eval. I am so mad about that. What is the damn deal? He should have already been seen by now. Ugh!!!!

Laurie - enjoy your time off and time with YMG. and your treats. yummy!! Sorry your tree decorating time was not as enjoyable as you had hoped.

LindaS - you definitely sound like you're in the holiday mood. Lots of fun. Maybe you can call in tomorrow with the christmas spirit. Just say you are too full of Christmas to come in.

Trudy - Good luck finding some yummy soup recipes. I wish I had some recipes to give you. If I had to live on soup I'd starve. I'm not big on soup. You'll have to explain these splints, or maybe you have already but they make no sense to me. Maybe a late night chat session...and you can break it down. LOL.

Meg - I am so excited for your store opening and your CT call. That is great. And your mom trying to cause drama in your life...my husband was just saying that the holidays bring out the craziness in people sometimes. People think about how things are not how they want it to be and sometimes they get sad and sometimes they get angry. Sounds like she's getting angry and trying to get you worked up too. I'm glad you're not letting it.

Sally - Poor Q. I hope he is better and no more sickies anywhere so that everyone can love on those babies. You slow down too so you don't get the worn down blues after Christmas or even during Christmas. Take care of that family too and not the rest of the world. We'll still be here. I need to write you soon. I think I need to stop HSing Ethan. I think the schooling is fine but he is getting really depressed being so far away from family and I can't get him out of it and think he needs more people around him. Anyway, I just wanted to chat with you a little bit about it. I'll message you about it soon.

Okay, I think I got everyone.

Oh...so the lady that is here from Washington is up to her old tricks already. So, she's not only keeping her gayness a secret, which annoys me. But she is being dumb and ridiculous like she was when I watched Cristian for all that time in washington. So, the kids wanted to have a sleepover the other day and I said no because C didn't have any of his stuff and so I agreed to today because I knew they had something going on today and had to drive somewhere and stuff. So she drops him off and all he has is a toothbrush in a little bag. no PJs, no clothes, nothing. So, I send her a text asking where are his clothes and PJs. And she writes back..."nothing clean, sorry." I was just like are you freaking kidding me? Whatever. I knew it would be the same crap different place.

Okay, I need to go. I'll be back tomorrow. Ciao.
