happy Hump day!! How is my lOvely O-Fam!!??

Sooo, you all say I have an interesting life, huh? Do you want to hear how my day started yesterday? This will make you laugh

Gary takes Marinol (synthetic THC) for his severe nausea. It needs to be refrigerated and when we went out on Sunday, he threw 2 pills in to baggie, put them in a lunch box with a cool pack- just in case he got sick.

When I drove Scott to the bus I noticed the lunch box was still in the car. The cold pack was still cold and so were the pills. I put it on the kitchen counter so he could decide if he wanted to keep the pills or throw them out.

As soon as I get back from the bus stop with Caitlyn, Gary meets me at the door to ask where the lunch box is. Caitlyn apparently took the lunchbox to school. With the Marinol. In the baggie.

I drive over to the school- and the kids are not even there off the busses yet. I tell the secretary that my DD took the lunch box with my DH's Rx in it by accident. They call her down, tell her that dad's meds were in there. I grab the baggie and stick in in my purse.

Then I see the principal's face. he was looking at me with his mouth open and eyes bugged. He used to be the HS principal and I can only imagine what he was thinking.

All I could think was OMG! And then ... Thank goodness Scott is still not in this school- they would be searching his desk by noon! (Scott got suspended in 3rd grade b/c he accidentally brought a cap gun to school and another kid took it out of his lunch box and shot it off. *eye roll*

So now I am not sure if I should email the principal and explain or just let it drop....

So.... interesting right!!??

Gotta run and get Scott to school
Be back in a bit!

Good Morning!!

Wow...we are already so far into September!! I am wondering where the time goes anymore!! It really is time to start planning for Christmas.... I know...it's still early....but when you have a family as big as mine you have to plan in advance!!!

I am sitting here looking through my front window at the most gorgeous sunrise!! Unfortunately, I have to get up and go get DH off to work in a minute...I have to pack his lunch...UUUHHHMMMM BUT NOT THE SAME KIND OF LUNCH CHRIS PACKS....LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am keeping Traci's kids today...she had to go to Richmond for a DR's appt...so they came last night...Jesse just got up...so I better run!!

Have a great day O-Family....I will be back in a bit for personals!

(((((HUGS)))))

Oh Chris...oh Chris! Hope today is better. And thanks for the reminder that it's hump day. I'm already exhausted. :-)

Overslept yesterday morning. Woke up at 7:10 instead of 5:20...big problem...bad start to the day. Left work and went straight to gymnastics. Finished gymnastics, came home, had supper, started spelling words for this short week with Shaun. Tomorrow I have a routine colonoscopy so I need to remember to eat only clear liquids...and get home early tonight so that I can drink my cleansing solution! ACK...

Kat, how was the first day of school? Did you cry?

Sally, glad that you've got yours kicked off as well.

Sandra, so sorry to hear about your aunt. {{hugs}}

I'll be back later tonight!

Linda W. you snuck in while I was posting. Have a good day with the grandkids. You are such a good Nana.

I am back- one kid down, one more to go. Then off to food shopping and errands.

Linda W- Have fun with the kids today!
I hear ya on the early C-mas planning. I have to make most of our gifts and I really need to get my butt ingear if I amgoing to be finished on time. Last year we had a gift idea thread- If I can remember, I will bump it, to get us/me inspired.

Lyme appt went well- She noticed right off the bat that Gary's neuro symptoms were "calming down." I hadn't noticed myself, but she saw much less tremor, his speech was more fluent and the Bells' palsy is going away. he is still battling pain/joint/stomach issues, but the neuro improvements really pleased her.

I am continuing to also improve w/ neuro stuff. She is concerned about my knees and would like to me get an MRI done of the right one. We doubt that insurance will cover it and she believes it to be Lyme arthritis, rather than a tendon/ligament injury.
She recommended a cortisone shot to reduce the inflammation, but said I would ahve to rest it for 2-3 days. Ohhh yeah... Ok... ;) She suggested I come in on a Friday and try to stay off it/ice it even for just the weekend. I'll have to see... my next few weekends are rough. But it sucks- I can barely get up and down stairs at this point :(

Oh and for those who were wondering of her opinion on the H1N1 vaccine, she is very very skeptical and is recommending against it.
She has seen the damage that a quickly made vaccine has done (Lymerix) and is very concerned that it is going to have major side effects.
For those who don't follow Lyme disease as closely as I do  Lymerix was pushed through and actually caused many, many people to get horrible cases of Lyme disease. It is now off the market. My Dr is also heavily involved with Lyme research and she knows what goes on in the Pharma sector to get FDA approval.
And in her opinion (and mine own), she is aggravated that the media has turned this into a huge issue that is just hyping up people for no real reason- there are many other illnesses out there that are to be more concerned about.

So in a nutshell, we are not going to get vaccinated. However, if we start "oinking" we may regret it.. :D:D:D

Linda S- oh nooooo! *not* a good way to start the day. Hope it is easier for you now.
Good luck tomorrow- glad to hear it is just routine.

Lori- did you get to FLY?:) How are your boys doing?

*snorts* Dawn, you and I need to live on the edge together LOL

Andrea- ((((hugs)))) maybe the noise you heard on the phone was just a big ol' party? *hopeful look* I cannot even imagine how that would feel to be on the phone and not even know where he is. Hope that the rest of the day was better.

BTW- I liked Obama;s speech- thought it was very well done, esp how he told them that the future of America rests on what they do now.
Lori- ITA! I think that due to his own background, Obama knows that there are kids who do not have a mother or father to sit down and tell them that they can do great, that they can reach their goals if they work hard. IMHO he and Michelle are perfect examples and should be "educational/work ethic" role models.

Kat- how did Nick and you both do?? A great first day I hope! Do you have full day KDG?We don't here, and I never can decide if I think it is good or bad... Full day is probably better for the kids, not so good for the moms :)
Hope you both rocked!

Sally- I love this group too.
When I kept hearing some of the "discussion" coming out of TX and some of the talk of TX secession, I kept saying, not all Texans are like this, not all Texans are like this.... I remember you saying that you might not agree with him/his policy, But as pres, you accept him and respect him. Yay for sanity!
:D:D:D
I have to say how happy I was to read Cora's FB statuses about how happy she was to be back "in" school. That just shows again and again what a great job you are doing.

Karen- hey there!!! Good to see you back!!

Go Ethan and Clara!! Our babies get so big so fast (and isn't it amazing how we don't ever get older ;) ) Hope he has an awesome 1st day back!

Dawn-- scary!! Drive carefully!

Sandra- oh I am so sorry to hear about your Aunt. I figured things were still so busy at work... but I guess this is much more difficult to deal with. I am glad that she is not suffering. I know it sounds trite but I mean it sincerely. ~~~hugs

Ack! Late late late for a very important date (bus stop) haha
Have a good one!

Morning, my sweet OFam!!!!

I've got to be quick here since I have a lecture to get ready for here in 30 minutes!! :) I'm sooooo loving the Middle Ages...so if you hear a lot about that, that's why!! LOL!!! I'm also getting up earlier!! (7:45...it's MIRACULOUS!!!!) Just think of how accomplished i will be by the end of this school year!! (PLEASE, keep praying for me!!! LOL!!!)

Chris, you and lunchbox story has put a BIG smile on my face today!!! And I'm thinking after that good report from the Lyme Dr, I'll be smiling all day long!!! :)

LindaW!! LOVE your lunchbox comment!! :) Have a wonderful NANA DAY!!!! you inspiring Nana, you!! :)

LINDAS!!! I'm working my booty off to come and play with you in a month!!! please pray for my EBAY stamps to sell...actually, pray that Cora and I get them listed!! LOL!! I'm only $250 short right now! So it's starting to really look GOOD!! :) hugs, doll!! Ohhhh and those colonoscopies are easy peasy!! (had to drive my mom home from one!!) just an encouraging word for ya!! :)

Sandra, BIG HUGS, darling!!! Sometimes real LIFE is the toughest!!! But we are here standing with you!! love ya!! :)

and to my dear ones...love all of you...have a GREAT DAY!!! :)

Good morning!!

First off I want to say Linda(S)!! You are a rockstar. Colonoscopies may be a pain in the butt (like that...LOL :) ) but they are so important. So, yay for you for biting the bullet and getting it done and over with. I hope they give you a clean bill of health and don't want to see you back for the maximum amount of years.

Okay, I am not really going to do personals until I get to work, but wanted to say that. Today is a good day. I am exhausted. Stayed up way too late playing in the gallery and scrapping a little bit but it is all good. I got Ethan off to the bus stop for his first day. I woke up this morning to him fully dressed and getting himself ready this morning. He was so ready to get started. DH got called in to the hospital last night so I had to get Addie ready too. It ran us a little bit late and I didn't get to spend the time with Ethan I had wanted to, but we all got off and it wasn't bad for a first day of school. So, I think Ethan is the last to start school around here. I was telling someone on FB that I like him starting so late because of how our summers run. Summer usually gets really started in late June/July, then we have a gorgeous August and it sometimes goes into September. If he started in early-mid August he would miss most of our summer. Getting out in May would stink because it is still cool and rainy 60% of the time. So, I'll take it. Kat, you started pretty late too...where are you from? ( I can never keep track of where everyone is from. So annoying).

I got to meet ethan's teacher yesterday. She is new to the school and is fairly young but I liked her. I was able to give her a little run down on Ethan. I don't think he has ADD or if he does it is fairly mild, but he has a lot of ADD tendancies. He gets that from his dad who does have ADD. So, I was able to let the teacher know that he has LOTS of energy, even compared to other boys sometimes. Plus he gets so excited and has trouble waiting his turn. I was looking at his reading book yesterday and I'm not sure how that will work out for Ethan. It seems a little slow for him. I'll let the teacher figure that out though. He is just an awesome reader. I wish he enjoyed it more.

Well, my time is up. I will be back after I get to work to do some personals. I am definately not sad to have a 3 day week. Hump day is my favorite, but even more so when it is the day my week starts on.

Okay...so the love I promised. I'm feeling a little crazy so I might do a few threads.

Chris - I was wondering what the dr would say about the vaccine. I am very big about the flu vaccine. I think everyone should get it because I have seen what it does, especially now that they no longer use a live virus...but I know that there are probs with it too. A couple of years agom dh had to do t he flu vaccine that you sniff. Bad plan. They used a live virus and he got sick and it didn't work as well through the year. With the shot I don't get sick hardly ever though. But like you were saying it is a panic vaccine. I think any healthcare done in a state of panic is a bad plan, especially things like b=vaccines that can make people sick. I know people have dies from this but people die all the time from the flu every year. This is just a different strain. It is sad but how it goes. Thanks for updating us on what your dr said. i'm glad you guys got good feedback from the dr. That sucks about having to get a cortisone shot. It sucks but I have seen amazing results from cortisone and steroid shots. I hope it helps you out. That is too funny about Gary's meds. I'm glad you got it figured out before Caitlyn got to school. You may need to paint a big flower on her lunch box so that they don't get mixed up. At least Gary gets it in pill form and isn't prescribed other ways to get it. That would have been really bad if that is what was left in her lunch bag.

LindaW - Yay for spending the day with the grandbabies today. I am amazed that you got to see the sunrise. I don't generally get to see them because I just can't get my butt out of bed that early. I rememeber the ones I used to see in San Antonio when I would be standing in line to eat when I was in the military. I just don't do mornings very well. Sunrises are so gorgeous though. It makes me wish I was a morning person.

LindaS - Don't you hate waking up late. It sends you in a panic completely erasing all the good that the extra 2 hours of sleep did. I hope you have a good day even if it is filled with cleansing and clear food.

Sally - yay for you and getting up early. I am thoroughly impressed since I'll bet we are one and the same when it comes to mornings. Have fun teaching about the middle ages. I think your kids learn more stuff than I ever learned in school.

Well, I need coffee. I have been pretty cut off of buying coffee but I have a few dollars to spend today so I am off to spend them. I have so much to do today...challenges, budget (yuck), school paperwork and lots of scrapping this afternoon I hope.

Hi everybody! I need to change my profile in the shop here, the email that I have on record is one that I don't check every day. So imagine my surprise when I checked it today to find that I have a $5 gc from Oscraps (where's that) for winning one of the challenges! Yippee! Time to spend it! But you know what? I can't figure out which challenge it is that I won! Whoops! Last month I was doing that thing where I tried to do all of the challenges. Didn't get there, but I did a bunch, so now I have no idea what this is for. Oh well, THANKS and I will take it! FFFAst!

So Gen had an appointment today with her Occupational Therapist and Social Worker. She's doing much better in some areas, ie sleeping in Atha's bed instead of mine, and speaking and communicating more effectively. But she's still struggling with her low tone and hyposensitivity. So they left us one of those bouncy balls, the kind with a handle on top that you sit on and bounce. She adores it, but doesn't get how to work it by herself yet. They also are going to give me an "astronaut board" which basically is a small ironing board with a lazy susan underneath. She tried one of those today, and LOOOVED it. Isn't that cool? Her therapy is to bounce and spin. Fun stuff for her!

Hey, Lori, we're going to Chuck E. Cheese on Saturday. It's a friend's daughter's birthday. So I'd better save some money, because I'm sure I'll be spending some. Atha is looking very forward to it. Not sure how I feel yet. LOL

Chris- so you found the THC pills, but did the principal discover the funny brownies that you also packed? hee hee, just kidding. My grandma used to have THC eyedrops for her Glaucoma, and she was always really giddy after taking them. She'd say, "I dropped my eyes, don't step on them!"
Wow, I knew Gary was the worst affected of you all, but I didn't realize just how much he was suffering. Tremors, nausea AND Bell's Palsy? Well (and here's one laugh to keep from crying fact) if he has Bell's Palsy, then he has some paralysis, right? So there's one area that does not have tremors. Look on the bright side! No, seriously, I'm praying for you guys!
And I am an Obama supporter, just for the record. I was amused by the parents that didn't want their kids to hear the speech. I mean, there were times during the previoius administration where my son watched presidential addresses in school, and although I didn't agree with the pres' policies, I had no problem with Quinn's watching the speech. I mean, this is our president, the leader of our country, and sometimes we as Americans are required to listen to what he says. No big thang. If you disagree so much with it, then have a family discussion afterward. What a concept!

Linda W.- you are the bestest Nana. And you seem to have the best time doing it! Rawk on!

Linda S- I hate being late so much that I have bad dreams about it. If I have to set my alarm especially early, then it is pretty much guaranteed that I will get very little sleep, because I am so worried about getting up on time. I know, bad bad. I have chronic insomnia anyway, and have since I was a teenager. Anyway, reading your post gave me the heebie jeebies! Oh and poor you with your cleansing juice, but yes the colonoscopy is so necessary. You will feel better for it. And hey, Hollywood stars pay big bucks to get "cleansed," just think of it as a beauty treatment!

Sally- the middle ages. What a fun age to learn about! Would not have been so fun to live through, but it's so fun to read about and study!

Clara- I'm so glad Ethan's first day of school went well. A lot of people started school yesterday, but not in my area. Growing up I always started school way before Labor Day, and always felt cheated. But then I was in Arizona, so it makes sense that we would get out and start earlier. Man, I do not miss living there. That's why I high-tailed it to Portland as soon as I was old enough! Spring and Fall in your neck of the woods are the best. *sigh* I just love it there, but then I've said that already!

Andrea - I love it there too!! Go figure!! Good luck with Atha's new therapy. I'm sure it is always easier when they like it.

So, I'm not sure how I feel about the presidential speech for the kids. When the president does an adress and it is on th etv I have a choice of whether I want to watch it or not. Granted I will watch it when I can. I'm just not sure I like that the kids "have" to watch it. My kids weren't affected by it since they were not yet in school. It just seems like it would be more appropriate to be on tv for parents to decide if their kids should watch it, or choose to prescreen it first. I haven't seen it or read it and know that I should. It seems like a very similar argument as whether or not sex ed should be taught in schools. Sure, parents "should" talk to their kids, but do they? Therefore schools have to fill in the gaps. I'm just not so sure how I feel about the president adressing my kids about whatever he wants to. Now, if it wasn't done live and was shown twice, once the evening before and then for the kids so that parents have the choice as to whether their kids should watch it I don't think it would bother me in the least. I don't know. Like I said, it didn't affect my kids so I don't know what my official feeling on it is. I'm not a big Obama supporter, but he is our President and my husband's boss so I do respect him and his position whether I agree with his plans or not. Plus he was voted in by the people and I respect that. Anyway, like I said...I don't know. I don't think it is some big brainwashing ploy or anything. So, not trying to start a big debate or anything just a little bit of word vomit from my crazy brain.

Good evening everyone!

I was running way late this morning and I'm kind of harried this eve as well.

A few key points from me though LOL.

((((hugs)))))Sandra, I'm so sorry about your Aunt. I'm praying for you and your family.

Clara-hope your work day was not too bad.

Chris-teehee about the lunchbox mistake, it's one of those funny but not funny things.

Andrea-woohoo on the surprise gc!! congrats!

Everyone have a great evening.

Sally...that's such awesome news!!! I'm praying that we get to meet in Coz! (Specifically praying for those stamps to get sold!!!)

LOL Andrea! As I'm sitting here tonight doing my "cleansing", I'm just appreciating the fact that I don't have to pay what the stars pay for their beauty treatments. Thanks for the bit of fun!!
