When is summer???????????????

I think that I heard on the radio that is was 7 degrees in Alabama, could that be true? We got up to 8 yesterday and man, it was brutal to be outside. We should be having a heat wave (ha!!) of 20* today and hopefully no wind. But wow, the poor people in the south, so not used to that, I bet. And my heart just *breaks* for the homeless people. There have been emergency shelters opening up all over but still, I am sure that there are still a lot that won't go. Or even how "good" that even is. :(

What are your tricks for staying warm?

Diane- are you still having that warm weather? Its crazy all over, isn't it?

Laurie- good to hear that you were able to stay hoe. And I am really glad that parents are realizing not to bring their little ones out unless they have to.
Your house is going to be cleaned and purged in no time!

Phyllis- my windows too! I shrink wrapped a few of them and I had to scrape the frost off of the insides before I could do that. Isn't that the irony-- such low humidity with the heat pumping non-stop, but just enough to make ice *inside* your windows ;)

Nancy- did you make it to your game w/o turning into an ice block?
I have never eaten Indian food. On the same page as Phyllis, I think. I went through and Asian food phase and now I have a lot of those spices sitting in my cabinet and no one will eat any stir-fry any more.

Trudy :( But sending hugs!!!!!!!!!!

Sandra- hope you ahd a great days with the kids and that the drafts got all plugged!

Jean- omg- that must have been scary to have no heat. My MIL had problems with her furnace yesterday too. eek! Glad it went back on quickly!!!

P- I made Baked Potato Soup for dinner last night- between the oven baking the potatoes and the soup itself, it wasn't so bad in the kitchen :)

Sandy- Ooooh, lucky to have 50's! But that must be like ice to you down there!

Warm and cozy hugs to you all!!!!!!!!

good morning! Its still cold this morning... we were at 12 degrees when I got up this morning and it looks like we're supposed to hit 31 today... woohoo! LOL We are supposed to be another 10 degrees warmer tomorrow... so maybe we'll thaw out a little...

Maintenance did not come to fix all the drafts yesterday, and I'm kinda ticked off about it considering how cold it was. The oven is helping keep the thermostat cycling so the heat is actually shutting off periodically... hopefully they'll fix the drafts today while I'm at work.

Had a good day with the kids yesterday... we started some suncatchers, but I needed more paint which I forgot to pick up last night ugh... will have to get that this weekend. Called a new attorney yesterday, but he was out of the office so we'll see how that goes..

Well, I guess I should finish getting ready for work... everyone stay warm!

good morning as Chris has said it is still cold in NJ just 9 degrees in my town. I survived very well actually getting to my hockey game. I wore my long underware and nice thick smart wool socks. Cracked me up when I went shopping how they now have smart wool. But they are awesome and can be washed and dried with no shrinking. So I was actually pretty warm and by the time I had walked to the Rock from the train station and got to my seat I was sweating. LOL! The trains were having horrible problems and my 6:15 train did not make it to the Newark until 7pm. But at least it was not my train that was stuck with a down power wire. My hockey team scored at 57 seconds into the game and then with less than two min left in the game to tie it and then lost in OT. Very sad.

Chris hang in there sounds like by tomorrow we should be above freezing.

Phylis yes Indian food has lots of spices but the store I by from already had the spices premixed and ready for the recipe. It is a really cool spice store that sells in bulk or small packets and a huge variety.

Sandra so sorry about the drafts. As Phylis mentioned be care with using your oven to heat. Hopefully the temp will rise and it will get better.

Laurie glad you are getting to stay home.

Jean must have been scary indeed to lose power. I now have a generator for power outages after going through Sandy and no power for over a week.

Sandy you are indeed lucky to be in S. Florida. My sister is in balmy AZ. Glad to know somewhere people enjoying their outdoors.

Trudy sorry you lost your post. Better luck today!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning ladies... I am over my crankiness and ready to post again today LOL . :rain: and very mild here today, I am trying to send the mild weather out your way ladies, but it sounds like you could be cool for a bit yet!
So I was trying to tell you how my DH has decided that for his 60th birthday in February, he wants to go lie on a beach in Mexico. Well I quickly phoned my good friend from high school who is a travel agent and got the wheels in motion to get this booked soon, before he changes his mind. :becky: I wish I could take all of you ladies with me!! Although I am not sure that MG would be ok with that. Chris you will have to sit next to Phylis to keep her calm and hopefully she will not :puke: all over you LOL.

Chris - I sure hope that the temps improve for you today! I spent 28 years on the prairie and hated each and every winter!!!! I truly know how cold it can get! One year we drove to Winnipeg from Regina, Sask. to catch a flight to Cuba, we were saving $100's of dollars to do this, but the temp on the day we left was -50C which is -59 F. All you could see out of the window was a small area for the driver, the rest of the car was frozen solid with no view out of any of the other windows. When we watched the news that night, they said Regina was the coldest place on earth that day. It was the trip from HELL!!!! So believe me I know how cold it can get!!! I think back on that day and wonder WTH were we thinking???

Sandra - Hope that the maintenance guy gets your drafts all sealed up today! Sun catchers sound like they would be fun to make!! Have a good day at work today and I will keep my fingers crossed that you get to talk to your new lawyer and your place will be draft free by the time you arrive home!

Nancy - Watched some of the game that you were at last night, hubby said that you were so lucky to be there watching!! He is jealous that you get to go to all those games! There were a lot of empty seats last night at your game. Guess it must have really been too cold for some of the fans!! Sorry that they did not get a win for you!

Ok I will pop in later on today to catch up with everyone else! DD is trying to FaceTime me so I gotta :dash: have a great day everyone!

well! THIS is an i provement. when i got home from a trip into the city this a.m., my windows in the house weren't all fogged up and drippy! i guess that's because there isn't a 70 degree difference between the temps inside and the temps outside. we're supposed to be in the 50s this weekend. WOOT!! :cheer2:

drove into town to drop off some food and stuff at my daughter's apartment. Sandra, you might like her place. it's radiator heating in her building, and there's no control over it. until this week she's had many of her windows open! even today, she had two of them open a few inches, and it was still 73 in there! hope you get your draft situation resolved. it's such a pain being cold, especially at home.

Sandy, oh, LUCKY YOU!! Florida. i can't even imagine it....:hurt:

Trudy, the Prairie must have been awful. it's like theMidwest down here, only even colder. nothing to stop the wind and weather from just blasting right through. i got a laugh out of your speedy call to the travel agent!! is DH likely to change his mind? well, get going on the reservations so you can just say:sorry! non-refundable deposit! :pound: how's the baby?

Nancy, the Devils must be driving you crazy lately. they seem to be just MISSING a win. the Pens pulled one off yesterday. i don't know how i feel about shoot-outs, though.

Chris, how come nobody will eat stir fry anymore? i would have thought that for veggie-lovers, that would be the thing. salty, i guess, but otherwise?

off to feed the blasted wood stove. enjoy Wednesday, y'all. :becky:

Phylis - Glad that your windows are not making extra work for you today!! Yes the prairie was a nightmarish place to live in the winter and horrid in the summer with all those bugs and grasshoppers!! But don't tell prairie people that, they love it!! We met some of the most wonderful people there though and I miss all of our friends!! BTW Mason is doing well and is growing so quickly 7 months old already!! How the heck did that happen. DD and him will be coming home with me after his 1st birthday party and staying until reunion is over in August. Jonah is not happy about it but that's too bad isn't it!!!! MEN!!! Why do they have to be controlling all of the time?? Anyway it will all work out I am sure. Now after this day of consolling my DD I really could use that time away at the beach!!

Sorry I've been sort of MIA...not been a great couple days dealing with court mess and didn't wanna drag the drama here....just left it on facebook :pound: Back to court tomorrow and hopefully it will be the end of it all!

Had a nasty cold the last two days too which hasn't helped but been sucking down Zicam as directed and that has helped a lot. Today was treatment day and that's just become a part of normal life, not much too it other than I had to have two sutures put in my line because they came out and sure don't want that baby falling out....eek!

I'm ready to get my happy self back and not just feel blah! Tomorrow....no matter what happens.....I'm going to have that! Not letting anyone steal my joy!
