HA!! You are all slipping. No one called me out on screwing up the day yesterday. We had two Mondays this week, the 19 and 20th ;) So the Date-Challenged Faery still lives.

But today's date is correct, Wed. 21st. Happy Wednesday, Happy Solstice.

Yesterday was a good day in my house! Both kids woke up relatively easy, Scott actually had a really good morning, being very talkative and looking fwd to school. (really!). Both kids came home with good news re: tests and quizzes. I cleaned for a one-time only client, who not only asked me to come back every few months, but paid me way more than I asked!

I am a little tired and a little stiff today, but I can deal, for sure. Today is my only day to clean my own house, but it isn't too bad. I have to tell myself that Christmas is only with us and the 4 grandparents. They won't care if there are drips of coffee on my stairs (right???). Just going to clean the dust and fur away (which will be back by Sunday at any rate) and be done.

This afternoon, we are going to my friend's house to make Reindeer food. we have been doing this together since the girls were 2 (now 13!!). We gather up stale cereal, oatmeal, crackers, raisins etc- mix it in a bowl with some colored sugar thrown in for "magic." Then there is a little poem that they say on Christmas Eve to attract Santa's reindeer. Its fun, can't believe that its been 11 years of tradition!

Back in a flash for personals....

Eva-- love your LO! What does your teenage mutant think about his cute little butt being on the page? Or is that part of the "pay back?":D
I think that is my saving grace that prevents me from eating my own young. I was not a fun teen, neither was gary from what I hear. Both of our parents had wished "ones just like us" way back then. If I only had known that then LOL
Anyway, gary and I definitely have ones just like us, and we did turn out pretty darn good, if I so so myself.

Can I just hug you about your Tip?? I love it! See, that is my permission to leave the coffee drips on the stairs. If I clean my stairs now, then they will always expect them to be clean. They will just have to be happy that they aren't sitting in a pile of cat/dog hair, right??

Nana......... nana, nana.... I think you are losing it.... Let me guess. Some time in a padded room, alone, sounds like HEAVEN about now :D
here is to hoping that you have a calmer day!!!

Phyllis- I don't wrap very well either. IMO- as long as the box is 90% covered, and there is a tag attached, I am good to go. I drive my mom crazy (or rather, she drives me crazy!!) b/c she has "hospital" corners on her packages, tissue paper folded perfectly, the tags are actually readable.
I bet your house smelled amazing with your home made bread, yum!!!

Fran-- one day at a time, baby steps and all that. And don't forget to breathe....
Is your mom all settled in ok? You spend as much time as you can with your g-son. Babies soothe the soul, don't they? I cannot wait to get my hands on my godson on Saturday.

Trudy-- don't "waste' your time here, you go and enjoy your DD!!!!!

Maureen- 100% truth- Anna's stuff is scary to look at until you actually do it! LOL
I didn't know you were in recovery, does our joking about the vodka bother you at all? I hope not. I think that you know we are just joking and that it is a stress reliever. And much safer to say in this political climate thansaying we are going to bomb things. But if it ever gets to be an issue, shoot me a PM, ok?
It must be so hard to see your friend slip back like that. I am glad that you can see how far you have come. I am proud of you very much for that. I am a recovering anorexic (not that you'd know to see me eat any more, it's 90% mental at this point) and I know how hard recovery is.

And on a lighter note.....
Yeah, "whatever" is still a classic teenage comeback. Caitlyn has perfected the death glare as well.

WWW
I wish I could help all of you who need it.
I want to someday meet all of you IRL and give you the hugs I am sending through the interwebs right now :)
I want to be OK with not cleaning my house to perfection like I usually attempt. *channeling Eva*

Well, I'm happy I can inspire you to slack! Add more stains to the stairs today :D

John would kill me if he knew what photos I scrap - I'm not allowed really LOL ... but what he doesn't know, he can't be annoyed about. I'm evil LOL

As for the teenage years - here's me and DH:
Eva 1981
Urban 1979
John's a breeze LOL

Today - I have the same plans as yesterday, cuz none of them got done yesterday :) Making Janssons frestelse for the Christmas dinner and clean the toilets. Yesterday people kept coming over, and then I went grocery shopping with my sister. I should have everything for Christmas now. Candy and snacks hidden in every cupboard I could think of. I just hope I remember where I put stuff ... might find candy next summer LOL

Just updated my blog - I've started this thing where I blog about 5 LOs with the same theme - this time of course: Christmas

Hello Wed. 12.21.11...........hard to believe that date!

Chris, I remember the Reindeer food and poem when my kids were little..............fun memories! Be sure to take some pictures.

Eva, I have lots of left overs on my To Do list from yesterday 'cause I took a few minutes to sit down at the computer with a scrapbook thought and then you know what happened from there.

Last of the errands today and getting groceries and keeping the thought of 'all is calm and bright' as I head out with the public today.

Thinking of all of you, friends.

Morning Chris &all. Last day in the big easy. We had lots of fun going through the art galleries yesterday. Unfortunately we have great taste. Scary thing is that I recognized anew artist style was very similar to one we liked that died tragically-also well known - Christian Nevsbada. Not sure how we will will our day, I am sure food will be involved. Tomorrow we leave hotel at 4:10 cst.

Eva, you crack me up. the '80s photos were just the BEST!

Donna, so much of what i have to do (like buy fish) is a last-minute necessity, which is what usually drives me nuts about Christmas. i sit on my thumbs until 2 days before, then work like a maniac. hope your foray out into Crazyland goes well today.

Chris, you sound totally ready! and i would NEVER have called you out on the 2 Mondays thing.l i thought yesterday was WEDNESDAY and posted the announcement for the Wednesday Anna ArtSale, then realized that it wasn't Wednesday (OR Monday) and had to delete it from the forum. some days i am totally hopeless.

the Solstice. my MIL always used to call me on this day to talk about how relieved it always made her feel, because from today on, the days would be getting LONGER instad of shorter. (i never burst her bubble by telling her that, yeah, except all the days for the next two months at least are going to be filled with ice (usually) and snow.)

Merry Wednesday!

Well, the best part with making your own to do-lists is that you can change your mind LOL Cleaned the toilets, put some laundry in the machine - same with some dishes (not the same machine LOL), cleaned the cats' litter box. Then I realized - it's Wednesday today. Christmas dinner is on Saturday - I might as well wait and to the preparitions left on Friday - no need to freeze + reheat the Janssons frestelse and the Finnish carrot casserole. Might as welll do them on Friday.

Yes ... excellent plan. I can scrap today

Morning all!

Dick is having his 2nd stress test as I write so I hope he comes home with the news that works best for him. He is already putting a lot of his own parameters on the idea of diet and exercise, so if he gets another stent so be it. I'm respecting his boundaries.

Chris, you can joke about vodka all you want. I don't find it bothersome at all. I always put that recovery part out when I feel it's a safe forum - just for that woman who may one day want to look at her own drinking or using. The woman I'm talking about was one of my first sober friends and it hurts me to see her hurting so much. All self inflicted. Damn.

I've been off with the days of the week for this whole month! I know it's not just retiremet, but dear god I hope I'm not senile! Now :nono: shut up if you think I am!

I'm still waiting to hear if I'm doing Christmas dinner here Friday, or we're trekking to VA on Sunday. Both ways work for me and I'm starting dinner prep - pork pancetta will marinte - and gather the ingredients for a spinach lasagna rollup. One vegetarian daughter. Cornbread. and a big salad. Maybe shrimp to start. This may involve a trip to Costco today but we'll see. That's a 20 mile trek but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Anyhow, the periodic cleaning women are coming shortly. I wish I could find a woman to pay directly, since each time I get a new crew but all in all I'm not bitching. Much.

cya later

Eva!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its not working, me trying to channel you. I think you are to far away :(Any chance that you can come to NJ??
I tried, really I did. I cleaned the dining room real easy. Just polished the tops of the table and chairs, normally I doo all of the rungs and the table legs. But then... then I start on the bathroom. Eva! I just vacuumed the wall behind my toilet!!!!

I have it bad, don't I?

Honestly, I think its b/c I clean other people's houses, so when I clean my own, I can't get out of Merry Maid Mode. (FYI: Merry Maids is a US cleaning firm, please don't think I am running around cleaning in fish-nets and teeny aprons bwahahaah!!!)

*sigh*

Off to vacuum again, rugs only this time.....

always chatty at the O!!
Hey ladies...I've been a bit absent the past few days...but I have fabulous excuses. On Saturday I traveled across the country so that I could be with my family. The trip was long and I hadn't slept the night before. But we generally hang out at the USO before and during flights which is amazing. They always have food, tv and are nice to the kids. People were sleeping in both Raleigh and Chicago so we were trying to not be too loud. I definitely need to add the USO to my giving list. They are sooo wonderful. The best part was seeing homemade cookies from local school and just people to be handed out. That is just so cool.

The day after we got here we had a mini-birthday party for Addie and just a general gathering. It was fantastic to see everyone...plus we got to go to our home church in the morning which is always awesome. In NC we go to a mega church and my home church is significantly smaller and much more personal. So, I love going to both but the differences are always so awesome. I love both churches for what they are.

Then Monday...what did I do Monday...oh...I got to visit with another one of our Cheery-O's for lunch after I saw my dentist. I am a dork and don't want to find a new dentist so I come home to see my dentist and have the kids see their dentist while we are in town since we will be here at least once if not twice a year. But after the appointment I met up with Amber aka AmberR and her mom and kids. We could have sat and chatted for hours but we had to keep it to just lunch as the kids and her mom started to get restless...until we headed outside and all of the kids' energy started escaping.

Then yesterday we made our run down to Lacey, where we used to live specifically and did a little whirlwind visiting after we took my kids to their dentist. We found out Ethan will be getting the big fang type teeth and so we are going to have a couple of his teeth removed this summer to keep it from being too bad. My husband had them also and ended up having to get the permanent teeth removed because they didn't do what they were supposed to with braces so we're trying to avoid that for Ethan. He'll still need braces but it won't be as bad..we hope. But then we ran down south and visited with a friend of ours who's husband is deployed...

*TANGENT** for those of you who know Andrea aka mrsaboyer ** if you didn't see her FB post yesterday she got the best Christmas present ever. She woke up at 6AM to her doorbell going off repeatedly and so when she went down to answer the door saw none other than he husband. He is back for good and doesn't have to go back to any far away land...at least until the next time they deploy. I haven't talked to her yet...they've been busy with phone calls...but I am over the moon excited for them.

Anyway...we were visiting a friend of ours who's husband is deployed. We know her through her husband. Derek and him were in a reserve unit together in Cleveland and ran into each other at Ft. Lewis and we have been great friends every since. That happened in 2003 I think. Then we headed off to see our neighbors and Addie's 2 boyfriends (twins who she always played with). Then Derek and I ran off to the church for an hour to visit with the pastor and his assistant who are also our friends, then back to the neighbors. It was very long day...but amazing.

So, all of that to say that today...we got nothing. So I can visit for a minute. LOL!!! I think we have everything together for Christmas, except for a visit to Santa. Maybe today or tomorrow. And that's it. I think we may visit Santa at the Space Needle. We'll see.

Alright ladies. I need to go see what the family is up to. I'll try and come in for personals later but I'm not promising. I love you all and will be back soon.

Hi all! I haven't been on the computer much the last few days and, unfortunately, I think that might continue until the New Year. I feel like I'm crazy around here with Christmas preparations, trying to get financials done for our home & school association and all that wonderful kind of stuff. I hope you all are having a great week preparing for Christmas!!
