Good morning ladies!!!!!!!!!! It's morning here, but we still haven't gone to bed. Jeff's playing his new video game with guys from work, and I'm about to start converting my recipes to a new format.

I hope no one is being buried in the storms right now :smow: ... we're surprisingly pretty warm over here!

I think I'm finally breaking out of my hormonal funk. I was so bad that I couldn't go to sleep unless Jeff was holding me in bed and talking my ears off, so my mind wouldn't wander to stressful things. I haven't been that bad in years!!! It's also helped that my dad has been calling more than just our Sunday night talks, I'm really looking forward to seeing my family again!!!

So, I *seem* to be over my cold, but yesterday I ended up taking an 8 hour nap. I couldn't stay awake after my shower, Jeff had to tuck me into bed before going into work for training on his day off.

I just went on a mini shopping spree in the O shop!! That's what Jeff gets for being a whiny butthead about not getting to play his new video game non-stop. I bought a few packs of templates that I've had my eye on... maybe I'll get some scrapping done! I'm going to see if I can do my recipe cards in PDF files so they can be searched, and for easy copying & pasting when I get requests :)

Tonight's dinner? Swedish Meatballs! My grandma's adaptations from a 1960's Wesson Oil Cookbook:

Swedish Meat Balls
1 medium carrot, grated
2 Tbs chopped onion
1Tbs Wesson Oil (I use olive oil)
1 pound ground beef (not too lean) **
½ pound roll of spicy sausage meat (this makes a huge difference, Jeff didn't care for how my dad made this when we were up there last, not enough flavor with plain sausage meat.)
1 egg
1 ½ tsp salt
¼ tsp pepper
½ tsp nutmeg
Wesson Oil for pan frying (I use olive oil)
1 Tbs flour
1 cup light cream (I use 1% milk, my dad uses whole milk... I might use 2%)

COOK carrot and onion in oil until tender. Remove from heat.
MIX in along with the egg and seasonings with uncooked beef and pork (I mix the beef and pork together before I add anything).
SHAPE lightly into tiny balls; brown on all sides in hot oil.
REMOVE balls to casserole and keep hot. Drain most of the oil from fry pan, save the browned bits.
STIR in flour and then add cream or milk. I make quite a large amount of the gravy.
POUR over the meatballs and serve with rice.

I double the recipe, this uses the complete one pound roll of sausage meat. The meat balls freeze well in the sauce.

** I have found that if I use ground beef that is too lean I do not get enough drippings for the gravy. This is probably not the healthiest recipe as far as fat and calories are concerned, but it is certainly “comfort food”.

OK -- Personals -- hope I don't miss anyone...

Chris -- I'm so sorry about your awful trip to WalMart!!! I used to love shopping there, because the fabric is a steal, so I could get my fabric fix AND the essentials all at one store. Now, ours has remodeled and they don't keep up with stocking. It's crowded, doesn't matter what time of year. I hate it.
Have you tried a heated blanket? I got mine at Costco two years ago... half the price of BB&B, it's a LIFESAVER!!! We aren't using it right now because I'm actually overheating... but my old place was FREEZING.

Laurie -- I hope work went well and you were able to dry your hair!!!
I second Chris, Amazon.com has saved my butt with the Christmas shopping. I have amazon prime, so I get free two-day shipping!

Kristy -- Ugh, wisdom teeth SUCK!! Ignore the advice to rotate having the cold ice packs on -- LEAVE THEM ON! Seriously!!! I had ZERO swelling and only slight pain. The only problem was the grossness with packing the holes with cotton.

Vicki -- Get better!!!! Ugh, that's awful... Jeff's Lt. had that for MONTHS.

ME -- Boo to the cold & snow, but yay for checking things off the list!!! We're hitting up Michaels today, Jeff's not happy.

Michelle -- Wow, you're genius!!! I'd never do daycare, but my MIL did in the past. Only accepting teacher's kids really gives you some freedom that others don't have!!
Oh and Khols is AMAZING! I always manage to walk away with a steal on a gift when we go in there.

Trudy -- Woo!!! Hooray for finishing things!!!! I hope storms don't come your way anytime soon!!

Laurie -- Isn't it amazing when procrastination pays off?!?!?!

Hi meg! You sound so much better- so much more like yourself. Glad to hear that you are feeling better. It sounds like you really needed that sleep. Do you have an ipod? I have to listen to podcasts to fall asleep. I have to make sure they are kind of boring or I get too interested in them, but they definitely help. jeff sounds like he is perfect for you! (yes, men can be perfect ever in - or would it be in spite of? -- driving us crazy!!!)
Gary apologized to me yesterday for not helping more, then proceeded to sit on his butt for the rest of the day. :frusty:
He did get the AC out of the window, so that made me happy!

Yum, I love Swedish Meatballs. Cait was at her friends house for dinner on Monday- St Lucia Day. Our friend is Swedish- lived in Sweden for many years- she makes them really good! Not like mine- frozen meatballs and canned gravy/sour cream. LOL

let me know how your recipe cards go- I have toyed around with the idea of digitizing mine, but then I always seem to go to my hard copies when I need them.

Today I am off to shop with my mom. I hope that this is the end, I hate shopping on a good day- the week before C-mas when it is brutally cold and windy- yeah... not so much! And I have to brave walmart again to return that thing that was broken. bah humbug!

I did get a lot done yesterday- if you saw my FB status.....but it seriously pooped me out. Gonna be moving slowly today.

WWW:
I wish that it was warm here, or at least i could be somewhere warm- Yes Ona, I am talking to you!
I wish I knew how to spell/type better.
I want to be DONE with my shopping today!

morning all - still cold- but we will get in the 20's today. Early day at work, then lots to accomplish on my day off- but that is what the day off is for. I keep forgetting that we are going out to dinner and dancing on saturday- hope it is a little warmer by then!

Meg- glad you are feeling better

Chris- sounds like you have a busy day- hope it goes well!

Hi girlies!!! I only have a couple of minutes.....

Not babysitting today...TODAY is the day I have all those DR appts....well...Dentist, Mammogram, and my regular GP for med refills....

In between I have a couple of errands to run....so I will be out in the Fridgid air today....BOOOOO!!!

Have a great day everyone....and I will come back this evening......

I have one thread stop before I go................You must know that I have to go send a little package to the Aussie Dag in the HOW COLD IS IT WHERE YOU ARE thread.........LOL

Stopping by to say hi! Brrr, it is so dang cold here still. Okay, enough whining about the cold. Hope you all have a fabulous day. We braved the mall last night to buy boots for Christian, but they had such a poor selection. The woman at Stride Rite said we should have come in to shop in October, but seriously, who is thinking of buying winter boots then? We did have a nice dinner at the Silver Diner - kids night with a balloon guy so the little guy got a sword balloon, and he was just thrilled. :)

Meg - thanks for the recipe share

Nana - good luck with all of the those appointments - hope you don't have to sit in the waiting room too long.

Laurie - your Saturday night out sounds awesome.

Chris - enjoy your shopping day with your mom. As much as I hate shopping with all of the crowds, I do so love shopping my mom, and wish we lived closer so we could go more often together.

Happy Hump Day!!

Good morning Ladies. I haven't been on here since Sat. Things finally went ok for us. I was just in major *itch mode Saturday. I was mad at the world and woke up not too happy Sunday too. I just couldn't shake it. Dh's old army buddy came through for us on babysitting. His new GF came over with her 2 kids and they had a great time all night. So we were able to go to the gala. We even ate at a restraunt I've been dying to try for over a year. Should have gone sooner. The food was amazing! I had lamb chops and dh had crab stuffed rockfish. Of course we shared! Yum! So I am over whatever mood I was in. The furnace is still running. Crossing our fingers and praying that it keeps running through the winter. We got on a good service plan out of it all though and get a free cleaning of the furnace the week after Christmas! Yay. maybe that will help. My poor 10 yr old isn'tfeeling well. He was supposed to go on an outdoor field trip (nature park) today. Seriously who plans these things? It is 20 degrees F out there! Who goes geocashing and nature walking with kids in the winter?????? So we're taking him to dr in a bit to see what's up. Very swollen throat and sore ears. Yay.
Monday night, I passed my final! Woohoo! Got a B in the class, but I'll make it work!
Also totally done with Christmas shopping except a present for DH. Have to order that one.

Hate to hear that all you ladies are feeling so sick. Try to stay warm and get lots of sleep and plenty of warm yummy drinks and soups!

Morning girlies!! Feeling like a fresh start new day today!!!

I went and spent the afternoon with my sister-in-law and the twins yesterday. It was soooo fun. I actually had to tear myself away from them...kinda wore out my welcome, cause they were soooooo cute!!! My two little girlies (little, HA!) went with me. very fun!!

Today, crafting, crafting and more crafting. This is what I LOVE about Christmas. Just the random projects that are all over the place! So, today I'm going to have a bunch of little deco projects that I'm featuring on my BLOG for the next 11 days! (yup, my own little twelve days of Christmas!)

Hugs to everyone!! LOVE you all!!!

Really trying to not hit some clients over the head. I emailed them my availability for the next two months, and they still sent me emails asking when I'm available this week. Ughhh, apparently being explicit in my openings for this week wasn't enough. So I ignored their first email hoping they would read my original email. Apparently not. I copied and pasted from my original email and emailed them again. Oh well.

Ugh, ok -- off to get my hair cut!!!!!

Hey ladies!!

I have a ton to do so I have to be quick but I went and visited Andrea in the hospital last night and thought I'd share. I barely got in the room before her husband was jumping up and down pointing at little baby Walter. He was being far too cute about the baby. Andrea is doing really well. She is so low maintenance. I try not to be high maintenance but I can't imagine being as easy going as she is. She had a c-sect but was up and moving around pretty well. Walter is amazing. Since he was born via C-section he has no little cone head or anything and all that ashy newborn look is already gone. I can't quite tell who he looks more like, probably a good mix of the two but he was cute as can be. She is supposed to be headed home today. I need to text her and see if everything went like it was supposed to this morning. I'll hopefully have some pics I took up later today. She has some really cute pics she wanted to put up but she wanted to crop out the little boy parts before posting for the world. So, I just wanted to let you all know how her and baby were doing. She says she misses you guys but she doesn't CT for anyone here anymore but is at some other sites and just doesn't quite make it here. But she does think about you guys. Anyway, watch for pics. She has a few up too.

Alright off to finish up some christmas stuff. Hugs!!

evening all - propane delivered today- turn up the heat- just kidding- I don't know how I would heat this house if I stayed at home all day- it is up for 3 hour in the morning then down to 64 during the day and comes on at 7pm- 10 to 68 and then back down- yikes

clara the baby update was cute

sally- you out stay your welcome- never

ME- have you tried ordering boots from lands end- loved them for my boys!

Nana- hope the dr's and errands went well

Meg- hope your clients were able to figure it out

Katrina- glad your weekend worked out for you!

Quick question. I was browsing Etsy and found some digital kits. However teh question is, I found a lady selling kits with Disney characters, strawberry shortcake, sesame street, hello kitty, etc. Don't you have to have a copyright to sell images like that?

Yeah, there's lots of people who don't honor copyrights... that's why I never buying any digiscrap stuff on etsy -- there are a lot of frauds out there. Buying from a shop like O Scraps gives a little bit more oversight, but there's still shops out there who could care less what their designers are selling. On Etsy, you can report the listings.
