Daily Ooos: Wednesday, April 5

Happy Wednesday!
My goal for today: Do a better job proofreading what I write. Wow, I had so many typos in yesterday's post. Every English teacher I ever had is cringing right now. I am as well.

What a fantastic weather day we had here. Perfect for early April. I spent hours outside and my goodness, that made me happy. Gary and I took the dogs for a walk and ended up on a hiking trail. (Intentionally. There was a clear line of asphalt/fence/woods that we crossed. Not improbable that I could get lost and end up wandering in the woods) We hiked for almost 2 miles. We had to turn around when the trail marks changed to two diamonds. None of us, Gary, me, nor the dogs were ready for that. Grabbed lunch and spent another two hours uncovering the little garden areas scattered about the yard.
I won't be able to be outside for the next couple of days due to rain. Maybe, just maybe, I can get some more pages of the Dreaded Birthday Album (DBA) done. I have to pick up my groceries this morning and then clean for my friend this afternoon. If I can figure out what's easy to cook for dinner, I'll have an hour or so this afternoon to get something, *anything* done.

WWW
My wishes and wants:
I wish I had a magic wand to clean houses (Wouldn't I be cute as one of Sleeping Beauty's faery godmothers??)
I wish- oh how I wish!!- that I had a personal chef.
I want (really, I do!) to get at least one page done for the DBA

Have a wonderful day!! xoxo

Good morning. Quick in and out this morning. I'll get back with more personals later today. But I needed to tell you how my morning started. There was a baby snake in the pool...I was too scared to stand out there. My brain knows that the little black racer won't hurt me. My heart has a totally different perspective.o_O

I was on the phone with Syd last night while she started packing up her room to bring stuff home for the summer. That's hard to believe. It has gone fast. I'm sure that Germany will speed by as well. And before I know it, I'll be stressing over where she is going for her job. Oh my.

HAGD all. I'll be back at lunch.

@Nonni F I truly hope the day improved after you posted about your morning chaos.
I'm sorry that you have a friend with Lyme, it really affects everyone so differently and some meds work on one person and not another. I can't tell you how many different Rxs we went through. We learned never to throw out Rxs because, at some time, someone else in the family was going to be on it. LOL Has your friend had successful treatment?

Take a seat by the fire and I will tell you The Story of the Big Bottle of Wine. Picture if you will...
Early September 2001. My kids are 3 and 5. My SIL comes up with a great idea to get portraits taken of my kids and her 2 yo DD as a gift for my ILs. Scott is in AM kdg so we plan to go when he gets off the bus at noon. As soon as he gets on the bus, Caitlyn and I go to the grocery store together. Caitlyn didn't have Terrible Twos. She had Terrible-Horribles 3s. As I try to get through the supermarket with her sitting in the cart, she is doing her usual crabbing about.
I am already flustered when we get to the frozen food aisle. I grab a bag of peas and they go spilling out of a tear in the bag. Frozen peas are rolling everywhere. Finally, get that taken care of and head home. Get lunch for Caitlyn. SIL and my niece get to my house. Pack snacks for the kids to eat in the car. Everyone gets in my minivan (hahaha! Yup, I drove a minivan! ) and finally -- *finally* got niece's car seat buckled in correctly. SIL is 8 months pg and had enough trouble getting into the van, let alone messing around with the *%#%^ car seat. Drive to the bus stop for Scott. (Mind you-- kdg is only 2 1/2 hours).
Drive half hour to the closest Walmart. We are 5 minutes away when SIL says that Caitlyn has a bloody nose. She had been shoving pretzel sticks up her nose and now has blood spattered on her face and t-shirt that was specifically chosen to match Juliet's. I pull to the side of the road, trying to clean her up before the blood sets in. (You know that at this point we are behind schedule for the photo appt. Of course.)
I bribe my kids with a cookie from the bakery dept if they behave. A+ Parenting Skills.
We finally get the pictures taken and you all know what my skootchy daughter has been up to. Absolutely *not* behaving.
As we are walking out of the store she is *wailing* about her cookie. Shrieking! But I stand firm- no cookie for her. Back in the car, she cries herself to sleep and my niece who has behaved perfectly looks angelic next to her glowing mom.
Get home, thinking about dinner, Scott is writhing on the sofa with a stomach ache. Cait's whinging about something/anything/everything.
Gary calls from work, he is on his way home, asks if I need anything. I joke that I need a very big bottle of wine. And a straw.
An hour later, he is home. With a Very Big Bottle of Wine.
My Hero.

Then End.

OMG! Love the story and the journal page to boot. That's fabulous!!! ...and yes there are days that only a very big bottle can fix. lol
On that note @Su_Sanne ... always bet on red! ...and any red. I'm not picky about THAT.

Oh, @taxed4ever how horrible and sad about Heather's neighbor. We definitely should live EVERY day as if it's our last. You just never know. You just never, ever know.

The full moon passed... the day definitely got "better". It was crazy though.. it was literally everyone, and everything we touched for a solid two hours.

A little cloudy here this morning but warmer. I can't wait to get out into the yard working one of these days. I can see my lillies and irises popping up under the leaf mulch.

@faerywings Chris, my friend still struggles... a lot. They did find last year that it wasn't JUST Lyme but another tick borne illness as well, so maybe there's light at the end of the tunnel. She's been out of work for a few years now.

I hope the morning gives each of you at least one reason to smile.

PEACE

Hi Linda! :waving1 Have a good day-- hope that your heart rate is better by now! I don't mind snakes when I am prepared/expecting them, but when they seem to come out of nowhere (usually under the rocks where I am gardening) I get startled every darn time. LOL

@vickyday How was the appt? I hope that it went well. I hope that you have been able to get something in your stomach. Have you tried protein shakes or Ensure?
Just remember that the missing Cheery O badge is only temporary, you'll be back!!

@bcgal00 Hope that your eye exam went well too. All of the games you are bringing sound amazing, you are going to have such a fun time. Thank you for the tips on the slaw!
Belated TfT: You can freeze fresh ginger. Cut into chunks and pop them in a Ziplock. It tastes and smells great when it is defrosted.
I am with @Nonni F you would be a blast to go on vacation with, and you would be Group Leader for sure :)

@taxed4ever We are getting hit by pollen hard here as well. My nose isn't terribly stuffy but my eyes are itchy. I have no idea if it is true or an old wives tale, but I have heard that your body chemistry changes every 7 years. Maybe (if true) that could be why things bother you more or less than they did in the past.
Oh, how sad for Heather and the neighbor. Such a sad story about the woman. :(
Have fun on your hike!
*nods* When I taught PreK connected with a hospital, all of the teacher and the parents in the ED always said the same thing- a full moon bring the crazy with it.

@Su_Sanne It is not a problem that you asked about ticks and Lyme. I share my story so that it might help someone else. Gary struggles with not being able to work, to "provide." But my family knows that we can get through just about anything as long as we are together. Gary gets disability payments, I clean a couple of friends' houses. It's always been a tight budget but it is what it is.
Yes!!! An Oh! under every roof, that is the perfect way to phrase it. And so often that "Oh!" is nothing that we know about. I strongly believe that everyone is going through something and that is why it is so darn important to be kind. It doesn't cost anything to smile or to say thank you - or whatever kindness you can share.

@Cherylndesigns Oh wow, that doesn't sound like a good situation with Roger's arm :(
Did he get to see the surgeon yesterday? Lots and lots of good healing vibes going to him again

@LSlycord I don't tell people enough either how I feel about them, its a good practice to get into, its good for both sided- the giver and the give :D

And now that I am running very late, I will end on this:

Yeah, yeah, I know I am running late-- But we all had coinfections too- Bartonella, Babesia, and Gary has a mycoplasma infection that causes chronic pneumonia. Cait and I test positive for random autoimmune disorders.
If your friend ever has any questions or wants to run something by someone who has BTDT, feel free to ask me, PMs are always open

Thank you Chris for your openness!! I really appreciate that. :hug2:
You can ask me anything. I'm glad that we, as a small group, can always learn something from each other and experience something new. I wish Gary all the best and I hope and pray that something will come to market soon that can help him. Yes, and it's very important that you stick together and go through thick and thin - that's what they say in Germany.

Thanks for your support and your pationceI have now placed a layout with a border in the gallery. It does not matter now. I'm still learning and I admire all of your talent! I don't have to be perfect!!!

Wow!
You guys really went through a lot!! My goodness what consequences and side effects this disease causes! And how many years wasted on research because doctors didn't take it seriously. One day a scientist will remedy this as well. I hope it will be soon!!

I myself discovered a tiny little tick on my hip when I was in my mid-30s. She hadn't docked. I called my GP and asked if I should be concerned. He said I don't need to as our native ticks are not dangerous. At the time, people didn't know enough about it. I almost forgot when I saw the red rim that itched terribly. When my family doctor and his wife walked past our house on Sunday, I stopped him and showed him the spot. He grabbed me and took me to a nearby pharmacy. It was very uncomfortable for him that he handled it so cluelessly and carelessly. He gave me antibiotics and fortunately after a few days the nightmare was over.

Good Morning!
I was able to eat a little more yesterday, but it seems I am paying for it today. BLECK#dk

Yesterday's appointment went well. Here is a breakdown of the visit:
BP was 130/82
Oxygen was 99
Pulse was 80
so all of that is good
She took X-rays of my stomach and found my bowels are not emptying properly.
She took blood and urine.
She did an H pylori test which is breathing into a bag then drink some unsweetened lemonade-type of stuff, wait 15 minutes and then breath into another bag. They will compare the two bags for acid or gas content since I have so much heartburn and acid indigestion.
After I get a colonoscopy, which is overdue, if it looks OK she wants me to try Linzess. It is a medication for IBS sufferers.
I told her I was having a lot of headaches and would like to explore that problem. She said she wanted to get my stomach fixed first and then we would explore that problem. Actually, the headaches have not been too bad the last week.
I think all of the tests were sent off to Lab Corp so I will be waiting on those results.

So, nothing definite settled yet, but at least I have the process in motion now!
Also, still no fix for my Facebook page yet. So if you are getting weird messages from me wanting a code LEAVE IT ALONE!!!

They are predicting severe storms for later in the day. It reached the 80's yesterday and Mark and I went on our first bike ride of the season! We were out about an hour. Just traveled the back roads around our area. The weather was perfect for me to wear a sweater and be comfortable. Mark said it was a bit warm for him even in just his shirt sleeves.

Well, I'll close for now. I've got laundry going and I want to run out and get a wedding gift if my stomach settles down enough! Keep those prayers going!
Hugs to all!:hug2::bye2:

@vickyday sorry you're paying for it this morning. Hopefully they can get to the bottom of this soon. I don't know if you have a Lab Corp account, but they're awesome at posting results quickly. I usually see them before my doctor does. You know, so I can google and diagnose myself and panic. hahaha

Good Morning ladies!! I will be quick here today as I need to get my backpack ready to go. SIL Linda is joining us on this hike and she is going to be picking me up shortly. This one is a 9k hike so I might need a soak in the tub when I get home. Supper is going to be leftovers tonight, so at least I don't have to think about what to make for dinner tonight.

@faerywings - Yes you really would make a cute fairy godmother! I hope that your cleaning job goes quickly today! I am so happy to hear that you and your Gary got out for a hike with the dogs!! WTG!! Love your tale about the big bottle of wine and my Heather was exactly the same when she was three years old!! :rollingpin1:everyone talks about the terrible twos, but my god the threes were worse with both of my kids!

@LSlycord - Ugh on the snake in your pool, they don't bother me too much. I used to bring them home in a box and Mom would freak out LOL. I wanted them as pets, but not anymore. Its the huge spiders that we have here that I hate, they give me the willies!! Wow things really are going fast for your Syd and her schooling, soon she will be working full time and what will life be like then for all of you??

@vickyday - Glad to hear that you felt well enough to go for your first bike ride. Sure hope your lab results will help the doctor find out what to do for you!

@Nonni F and @Su_Sanne - One day I will have to tell you what our family went through with our daughter Heather, yes everyone has a story and we really all need to live each day as if it is our last! Everything can change in a heartbeat!!

I hope you all have a wonderful day and I hope you can all do something that makes you smile today! :bye2:

I may actually have an account. I go to the doctor so infrequently for tests that it would have been before 2018 the last time I checked.....IF I even did at that time. I'll wait for the doctor to post the results. My anxiety issues can't handle it, LOL!

Good morning ladies. I'm not going to be on the computer as much today. I had the eye appt yesterday and found out I have glaucoma in both eyes. He did a laser iridotomy procedure which will take about 4-5 days to recover from. I had a migraine last night and it has tapered off to a dull headache and my eyes are sore and gritty with a bit of pain and blurriness. I have anti-inflammatory eye drops for this week and glaucoma drops that I will need to take forever now. We'll see if I adjust to the drops b/c they are very painful, he said some people can't tolerate these and I may need different ones). I'll need regular eye checks and hopefully won't need further surgery. He said the tear in my right eye was bad so it was a good thing I went in when I did. Huh, I had no idea. I thought my wonky vision was b/c of my blocked tear ducts, I didn't expect glaucoma.

Anyway, hopefully it will not progress any further now. So, today will be a quiet day. So glad I have time to recover from this procedure before the trip. Time for more drops in my eyes, so I better go.

HAGD everyone.

Good afternoon. Quick in and out - I need to get organized so I can walk up and check on Roger. He's still not doing very well. I guess he had a pretty restless night and he's still "oozing". He talked to the dr yesterday and again today and he's going back tomorrow if it isn't better. He soaks through his dressings so fast and his shirts are soaking wet. After 2 hours, he has to change everything. Something is wrong! He's in a lot of pain too and of course, they hardly give any pain meds anymore. It's just SO wrong!! They sent him home with a dose that wouldn't touch a gnat. GRRRRRR

Thanks for all of your concern.

I'll try to be more active and possibly pop in later on today.

Thanks so much, Susanne. He seems better today, and his sister is an RN and he talked to her today. She thinks it's just the liquid that normally just absorbs into the body - but it's draining instead. She said that was a rare thing, but he felt better after he talked to her. He's not in nearly as much pain today. I just got back from visiting with him.

I don't know if I've mentioned it here, but we also think he's allergic to that iodine wash that they always use. We got to "narrowing down" things and he remembered that he always broke out in a rash after any kind of surgery.

Then it seems to be going uphill! The conversation with Roger's sister must have had a very calming effect. Then we wish good healing and less pain!! :heartpumpred:
