Happy Veterans Day in the US and a lovely Remembrance Day elsewhere. ♥

I am finally feeling so much better. I felt terrible the entire time yesterday. But I slept well last night, and what a difference that makes. Whew! I really struggled to get through all of my tasks but I think I am ready for the family to descend here in a few hours.

Gary cracks me up-- I mentioned that we are having 9 people here today and my DR table only holds 8. And even that is a squeeze. He took out the folding table and tried to set that up so we could all fit in my tiny DR. We tried that way for Thanksgiving a few years ago and it wasn't all that comfortable. But we were together and made it work.
Rather than deal with that, he had a different idea.
He goes into he basement, finds a slab of pressboard wood from an old TV, and builds a leaf for the table. It looks crazy but we covered it with a tablecloth and we all can fit.

That is my big plan for today: having the family here. I have a virtual work meeting at 1 pm to finalize the retreat plans and that is it.
I am really glad that I am not working outside today. It is frigid! 30* with Real Feels of 13*!!!! We had some snow falling this morning, just sticking to the cars. I am not prepared for this at all!
:brrr:

(How many days until summer?)

Have a fab day! xo

Happy Birthday to your dad! I pray he has many more years with his family!
Sorry you are feeling badly today! Hope the queasiness goes away and you get some rest today! :hug4:
TY!
No rest yesterday but I made it through in one piece!
Have a wonderful time with your ladies today, lots of warm, healing thoughts to you all.
Our family dinner was pretty good yesterday. People are hanging in there. We had 11 adults and 6 kids. With all of those kids (all under 5) they don't allow you to dwell on your grief.
:hug3: The babies are such a blessing.

I have not slept a whole night for over a month now but last nigh was the best with 5 hours so I am hopeful as I heal more I will sleep.
Isn't that the Catch-22? You need sleep to heal but its impossible to sleep well when you are in pain. Hopefully, you will be be better on both counts quickly.
Hope the gel shot wasn't too awful.

Good morning ladies. Feeling a bit better today but still not great but at least can function a bit. I have to drive Darrell into Calgary for a few medical appts this afternoon. While waiting for him I'll drop off at value village (both Jen and I purged some more), will pop into Winners to check out the xmas stuff to see what I might want to add to the decor this year. We'll be hosting a few get togethers so want to get the tree and decorations up by the end of the month. The next 6 wks are going to be crazy with all the craft fairs, parties, holiday events, etc. I'll need a rest in January LOL. I'm looking forward to no craft fairs for 3 months in the new year and then will only book a few over the summer, waiting for the xmas season as my main focus.
I'm glad that you are feeling better and am sending good thoughts to D.
You are sure going to need all of your energy to get you through the next six weeks or so.
(me ~> :lalala:. Holidays?? What holidays???)

All I can say is that it's a good thing we're retired and our hourly rate is low. It literally took us all day Saturday to fix the installation of the dryer -- which meant the washer had to be moved out and re-installed, too -- and so far about 5 hours to re-hang the folding doors, which is still not finished. The guy in the Lowes video did them by himself in 1 minute :floorlaugh:
OMG, that is so funny about the video. LOL! I bet you are thrilled to have it done but what a PITB!
Hope that you are feeling better. It's really hard to drink water when it is cold. I am going to start drinking herbal tea again, especially in the afternoon.

@scrap-genie The photo makes me cold just looking at it. On the bright side, my first reaction was to appreciate it, not to get angry and start cursing the snow. That would have been my response most days. (Maybe I am improving? Probably not LOL!)

Thank you, everyone, for the b-day wishes for my dad!

@AK_Tracy Tracy-- hope you are well! I know you had surgery scheduled in Nov, so if that is where you are at, sending you healing thoughts and love!

Gary sounds like Mark. Present him with a problem and he will figure out a way to fix it!
Your temperature is warmer than ours! It's only 28 right now ar 8 am!

Good morning,
Quick in and out today as I will be leaving soon to make the rounds to get the widows for our trip to the monthly meeting.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day and stays warm. It's 28* here this morning! No precipitation here and I'm praying none where we're headed!

Ladies I am in Florida with 37* What is wrong with this picture. Tampa set record low last night 39* old record was 40* from 1890 ish. What you say about global warming??????? Stay warm everyone.

Happy Veterans day to all those who served and the spouses who endured it all.

@faerywings Good Birthday Breakfast Party for your Dad. Wishing him many more parties! Crowding around one table is far better than separate tables. It sounds like you have it all figured out. I'm glad you got a good night sleep so today you will be able to enjoy your family time.
I'm with you---wondering where our AK ladyO is. Not sure of her surgery date but I know it's rough for her with all the travel involved too.

@Terri M Wow Lowes did that bad an install...did you contact them perhaps an install refund is in order it you had to pay for it.
I do dread the mess of the kitchen redo but have been through it a couple times before so know it's worth it. We don't have basement here in FL but will fix a sink set up in backyard for the few things I will need to wash. Just the two of us this time so easy peasy.

@vickyday You are cold too like most of US---brr. I guess another day then it gets better.
Just looked it's only 23* at our son's McCabin in upstate NY, his house in CT 28* and our daughters in CT30* I will stop complaining!!!![

Gel shot was ok....just one more. PT was fun-not! but I am making great progress so its all good. Thursday I need to bring walker and cane so I will graduate to cane I think- don't tell but i am using cane in the house for a day now...so much easier. My surgeon is very conservative so I appreciate her care but I do want to move on. Ok to drive now but hubby wants to take me so ok so I am thinking lunch out after PT !!!
We ordered our backsplash for the kitchen--black slate in brick shape not square. I'm excited. We are going to Clearwater today to get it so will store it in spare room till we need it. Chilly here so wearing long pants....not happy about that and will put sweatshirt on when we leave to get tiles.

Wishing everyone a great day

Brrrr... it is 34*F right now. :brrr: But it may get up into the high 50's late this afternoon. No snow or rain in the forecast for this week. I was looking back at photos from this time last year... and we were covered with a big snow. I have errands I have to run today so this will be short and sweet.

@faerywings Your Gary is so creative when it comes to solutions of enlarging the table so all the family can sit together. Glad you are feeling better today. Enjoy the family get-together to celebrate your dad's birthday.

@vickyday Enjoy your day with the widows. Hope the weather stays clear for you.

@LSlycord I went down the rabbit hole yesterday... looking at my books and deciding which ones I have in my collection that will work for The 52 2026 Book Club Challenge. Of course, being me... I ended up scrapping a couple of tracker pages to use for it. :D So happy that the family get-together went so well.

@BoatLady Glad to hear your progress on recovery is going well. WOW... the kitchen re-do will fantastic... but a PITA while it is going on. Do take lots of before, during and after photos.

I did remember to change my FB banner and Profile photo to photos of my hubby's Navy retirement in honor of Veteran's Day.

Washer/Dryer install is finished, it all looks great, and David stood outside while I ran the dryer and he's happy with the air flow coming out so, whew! cross that off our list. I did grocery shopping yesterday so I think I have time to read and do some scrapping today. Fingers crossed.

So cold for everyone! :cold::cold::cold:
28° here at 8. Mom in Fort Myers had 42°. ( I get a message from her every morning just to let me know she woke up.)
I'm wearing a sweatshirt and huddled under my blanket in my office. I could turn up the thermostat but I'm trying to toughen up for winter. At least I have my cozy hand knit wool socks on.

He goes into he basement, finds a slab of pressboard wood from an old TV, and builds a leaf for the table. It looks crazy but we covered it with a tablecloth and we all can fit.
Once when we were slated to host 8 around our table, that really only goes to 6 comfortably, David bought a piece of plywood, trimmed the corners a bit, put a couple stops on the bottom so it wouldn't slide off the table, and we covered it with a big tablecloth. Although I did give fair warning, I was worried all evening that someone would lean on the edge to stand up and it would flip up. We used it 2 or 3 times afterwards, but my dad sent me his bigger table, with leaves, when he moved into independent living a few years ago.

Keep warm!

We have reached a whopping 45* at 3 pm. Just in time to head the other way!
